Hobsbawm en su manera de analizar los agentes históricos desde abajo. La interpretación del autor se contextualiza en el desarrollo de la Historia social y cultural entre las décadas de 1950 y 1990, principalmente en el ámbito de la denominada historia radical y desde abajo que, además de Hobsbawm, tuvo entre sus principales cultivadores a E. P. Thompson o G. Rudé.Es tracta d'una reflexió que, explícitament arrelada de forma crítica en la pròpia tradició historiogràfica radical, aborda l'evolució que va experimentar Eric J. Hobsbawm en la seva manera d'analitzar els agents històrics des de baix. La interpretació de l'autor es contextualitza en el desenvolupament de la Història social i cultural entre les dècades de 1950 i 1990, principalment en l'àmbit de la denominada història radical i des de baix que, a més de Hobsbawm, va tenir entre els seus principals conreadors a E. P. Thompson o G. Rudé.Critically based on the radical historiographic tradition, this paper proposes a reflection on the evolution that Eric J. Hobsbawm experienced when analysing the historical agents from below. The author contextualizes his interpretation in the development of the social and cultural History between the 1950s and the 1990s, specially in the field of the so called radical and from below history, a kind of history that, besides Hobsbawm, has in E.P Thompson or G. Rudé some of its main practitioners

No full textThis article examines the conceptualization and representation of the Lords of the Night in Nahuatl and Maya cultures through the analysis of their glyphic systems. J. Eric S. Thompson highlights the relationship between symbols such as the mecapal and jaguar skin, interpreted as metaphors for the night sky and darkness associated with the underworld. Parallels are drawn between terminology and symbols used in the Maya region and the Mexican highlands, suggesting deep cultural connections. The work also addresses the antiquity of this concept in Maya tradition, evidenced since the Preclassic period, and the significance of terms like "tabal" reflecting the idea of accompaniment or union within spiritual or calendrical groupsEl artículo examina la conceptualización y representación de los Señores de la Noche en las culturas náhuatl y maya mediante el análisis de sus sistemas glíficos. Lineament analysis and inference of geologic structure: examples from the Balcones Ouachita trend of Texas

Reprinted from Transactions of the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies, Vol. XXXI, 1981Lineaments perceived in remotely sensed images are reliable indicators of geologic structure. Lineaments on ten Landsat multispectral scanner images (band 5; 1:250,000 scale) were mapped covering the Ouachita/Balcones-Luling-Mexia-Talco structural trend between the Rio Grande and Red river in Texas. More than 5,000 lineaments were perceived in these images. Maps depicting the lineaments (individually and in various combinations) were compared with maps of structural/ tectonic features and geothermal gradient contours, noting instances of apparent correlation among these themes. Lineaments are correlative with the individual faults and the aggregate fault patterns of the Baicones, Luling, Mexia, and Talco fault zones, Transverse lineaments, which trend almost perpendicular to these fault zones, mark the northernmost extent of the Balcones fault system and outline carbonate piatforms, such as the Belton High/Moffat Mound trend and the San Marcos arch. Transverse lineaments are coincident also with the axes of the buried Chittim and Preston anticlines and with the flanks of the Sherman and Round Rock synclines. Numerous salt domes occur at depth in the western part of the east Texas basin near the trend; many of these domes, particularly those in Henderson, Anderson, and Freestone Counties, are found along and at the intersection of major lineament zones where the concentration of individuai lineaments is greatest. Most of the buried Late Crelaceocs volcanoes of central Texas near Austin lie along northeast southwest- trending lineament zones; the altered pyroclastic rocks and associated beachrock facies at many of these volcanoes are hydrocarbon reservoirs. The orientation and spacing of geothermal gradient contour lines ("isograds") also correspond to major structures and thus, to the pattern of lineaments throughout the region. Correlation of (1)individual lineaments, zones of cortiguous or nearly parallel lineaments, and areas of homogeneous lineament density and orientation to (2) surface and subsurface structure and (3) geothermal,'isograd" patterns indicates that lineament analysis has many potential applications to regional mineral resource assessment.Bureau of Economic GeologyUT Librarie

An Author Profiling Approach Based on Language-dependent Content and Stylometric Features

We consider several sets of stylometric and content features, and different decision algorithms: we use a different combination of features and decision algorithm for each language-attribute pair, hence treating it as an individual problem
