These biennial reports are summaries of the activities of this agency. They were extracted from a series of Kansas agency reports covering over 100 state agencies and institutions bound together for each biennium., 1959/1960 - 1979/1980.
The Kansas State Board of Registration for Cosmetologists was created in 1927.
The Kansas State Board of Registration for Cosmetologists became the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology in 1969.
This collection contains all articles for both agencies. The Board of Registration for Cosmetologists was established in 1927 to regulate the practice of the profession of cosmetology in Kansas. It was designed to examine and register apprentices to become cosmetologists; to provide for fees to be paid for maintenance of the board and to carry on the business of administering the cosmetology laws. Board responsibilities include registration of beauty shops and beauty schools, and their inspection for safety and sanitation. They also assist in planning cosmetology work shops held each year for school instructors, a requirement for instructors. The 1969 legislature enacted a law changing the name of the board to Kansas State Board of Cosmetology. The goal of the Board of Cosmetology is to create a high standard of safety and sanitation for the public in shops and schools and to keep abreast with other states in the cosmetology field
