A self-power-transmission and non-contact-reception keyboard based on a novel resonant triboelectric nanogenerator (R-TENG)
We present a self-power-transmission and non-contact-reception keyboard using a novel resonant triboelectric nanogenerator (R-TENG). Based on the nature of self-power-generation and capacitive behaviour of TENG, each key on the designed keyboard combines a TENG, a coil and an external capacitor to form the R-TENG to generate an oscillating signal. The oscillating signals are then non-contact coupled to the receiving coils, which are then processed by a receiver circuit and visualised by Labview on PC. Using different external capacitors, each key is tuned to a unique range of oscillating frequencies, which is used to identify which key is being pressed. The novel R-TENG has potentially widespread applications in self-powered wireless motion tracking, human-computer interface ubiquitous in modern commercial and industrial applications

Novel fuzzy logic controllers with self-tuning capability
Two controllers which extend the PD+I fuzzy logic controller to deal with the plant having time varying nonlinear dynamics are proposed. The adaptation ability of the first self tuning PD+I fuzzy logic controller (STPD+I_31) is achieved by adjusting the output scaling factor automatically thereby contributing to significant improvement in performance. Second controller (STPD+I_9) is the simplified version of STPD+I_31 which is designed under the imposed constraint that allows only minimum number of rules in the rule bases. The proposed controllers are compared with two classical nonlinear controllers: the pole placement self tuning PID controller and sliding mode controller. All the controllers are applied to the two-links revolute robot for the tracking control. The tracking performance of STPD+I_31 and STPD+I_9 are much better than the pole placement self tuning PID controller during high speed motions while the performance are comparable at low and medium speed. In addition, STPD+I_31 and STPD+I_9 outperform sliding mode controller using same method of comparison study
The relationship between the exercise of political power and language during the cultural revolution in Inner Mongolia - 1967-1969
This is an analysis of the relationship between language contained in political documents and the exercise of power and authority from the Cultural Revolution in the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China from 1967 to 1969. It is based on analytic methods found in the works of Foucault, Bourdieu, Gramsci and others. The material analysed falls into four periods. The
first phase in 1967 saw the initial impact of the CR manifesting itself locally by causing conflict between two key entities in the IMAR - the army and student rebellion groups. The response by the Centre to this was the conduct of dialogues with the local groups, resulting in the issuing of a key document, the '13th April Decision,' to 'resolve' the local problems and impose hegemony from the Centre, through promoting standardised narratives and a specific ideology - CR Maoism. The -second phase from 1967 to 1968 saw the implementation of this strategy through the attack on the local leader, Ulanfu. During this period the discourse to 'handle' the region was articulated promoting a narrative and ideology from the Centre in Beijing of power based on class, excluding any assertions of the primacy of ethnicity and nationality locally. The third phase from 1968 to 1969 saw the promotion by the Centre of the newly installed leader, Teng Haiqing, using this new discourse. In this period, a local enemy - the Inner Mongolian People's Party - was gradually articulated. The final phase in 1969 saw the social turmoil and violence caused by the purge of those claimed to be members of this party, and the withdrawal of support from the Centre for Teng Haiqing, resulting in his use of a self-critical language, the creation of an adapted narrative and ideology, conveyed through a new discourse in which the key issues of class and ethnicity/nationality were approached in different ways.

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Enabling opportunistic energy trading between overlapping energy harvesting wireless sensor networks
Energy harvesting offers wireless sensor networks the possibility of indefinite operation. Their energy sources are typically uncontrollable and exhibit significant temporalspatial variation. Traditional approaches to managing their operation have been designed to adapt to these variances, but are inherently limited to only managing resources within the physical boundary of the network. Opportunistic Energy Trading (OET) was proposed to allow co-located WSNs to trade energy resources with each other, permitting energy management across network boundaries. In this paper, we extend this prior work by removing a number of simplifying assumptions. We consider the effect of varying degrees of overlap between neighbouring networks, mechanisms for monitoring and recording trades, and the modifications needed at higher layers of the protocol stack. To demonstrate our approach, we evaluate a case study where, during night, a solar-powered network ‘buys’ energy from a neighbouring battery-powered network to sustain operation
Using ICA for Retrieving Teng Parameters
The blind source separation (BSS) method of Independent Component Analysis (ICA) is explored as a new approach for the reconstruction of the transfer matrix of Linear Coupling Parameterization. ICA is a method to detangle independent signals out of several measurements of their mixtures. In BSS-calculations, it is usually not possible to retrieve the mixing matrix, for the source signals, as well as the matrix, are unknown. Combining the parameterization model of D.A. Edwards and L.C. Teng with the standard ICA approach, it is though possible to retrieve the mixing matrix, as the form of the original uncoupled motion is known. At the same time arises the possibility to recalculate the parameters of Edwards and Teng through a system of equations of the one turn map components. It can be shown as a proof of concept, that the parameters can be reconstructed up to high accuracy for a simulated, non-perturbed signal

Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Opportunistic energy trading between co-located energy-harvesting wireless sensor networks
Wireless sensor networks are increasingly using energy harvesting to extend their lifetime and avoid battery replacement. However, ambient energy sources typically exhibit temporal-spatial variation, and complex power management algorithms have been proposed to model and adapt to variation and achieve energy-neutral operation. However, existing algorithms are limited in the scale of spatial variation that they can accommodate, as they are restricted by the physical boundaries of the network. This paper proposes Opportunistic Energy Trading (OET) to overcome this limitation, and allow networks to trade energy to neighbouring networks which may either be heavily energy-constrained or else suffering from a temporary drought of harvested-energy. To show the potential of OET, we present a case study consisting of an energy-constrained battery-powered WSN which neighbours an energy-harvesting WSN. The case study considers a simplified version of OET, whereby the harvesting WSN transfers (i.e. trades for free) its excess energy to the constrained WSN in order to extend its lifetime. The case study is evaluated through simulation, and shows that the lifetime of the energy-constrained network increases by 40% while the effects on the harvesting network can be considered insignificant
