Probing Spin Accumulation induced Magnetocapacitance in a Single Electron Transistor
We show that non-equilibrium spin accumulation can induce tunnel magnetocapacitance through the formation of a tiny charge dipole. This dipole can effectively give rise to an additional serial capacitance, which represents an extra charging energy that the tunneling electrons would encounter. In the sequential tunneling regime, this extra energy can be understood as the energy required for a single spin to flip. A ferromagnetic single-electron-transistor with tunable magnetic configuration is utilized to demonstrate the proposed mechanism. It is found that the extra threshold energy is experienced only by electrons entering the islands, bringing about asymmetry in the measured Coulomb diamond. This asymmetry is an unambiguous evidence of spin accumulation induced tunnel magnetocapacitance, and the measured magnetocapacitance value is as high as 40%

Synthesis of Co(3)O(4) nanowire arrays supported on Ni foam for removal of volatile organic compounds
Crystalline Co3O4 nanowire arrays freely supported on Ni foam are successfully synthesized using a template-free method. The effects of reaction time, concentration of reactants, and temperature on the morphology of the nanowires are studied. The results indicate that uniform Co3O4 nanowires could be synthesized at 90 degrees C, and a transformation of the samples' morphology from nanoparticles to nanowires to microrods is observed by controlling the concentration of the reactants. The well-ordered nanowires synthesized under the selected reaction conditions are composed of spinel Co3O4 with diameters of 500-580 nm and lengths of 6-8 microm. These nanowires show good catalytic activity for the ozone catalytic oxidation of toluene.Hui, K. N.; Yin, Cui-Lei; Hui, K. S.; Lee, J. Y.; Li, M.; Lee, S. K.; Tsui, K. Komparativní analýza transformačních vůdců: Václav Havel a Lee Teng-hui
In recent years, the relationship between the Czech Republic and Taiwan has been getting closer. The two seemingly distant country however went through similar development at the end of 20th century - democratization. During the process, there are two significant champions of democracy: former president Vaclav Havel and Lee Teng-hui. This thesis will have two main objectives: first, to provide an overview of the lives of Havel and Lee Teng-hui; second, to conduct a comparative analysis of both using the transformational leadership theory to explore whether they align with Bass's definition of a transformational leader.Katedra severoamerických studiíDepartment of North American StudiesFakulta sociálních vědFaculty of Social Science
Evaluations of Kim Jeong-hui in Modern Japan and Korea
Fujitsuka's research on Kim Jeong-hui had an unintentional and profound influence on many Japanese and Korean scholars at the time. Accepting Fujitsuka's opinion, they re-evaluated the classicist Kim Jeong-hui or analyzed him as a scholar of Confucian classics. There was also a movement in reaction to Fujitsuka's approach that evaluated Kim from completely new perspectives. Fujitsuka was a pioneer in research not only in the field of Chinese philosophy, but also in the research of Kim Jeong-hui from the multifaceted perspective of Korean philosophy, literature, and the arts. In 1934, The Comnplete Collection of Wandang was published by Kim Ik-hwan who was Kim Jeong-hui's descendent. Jeong ln-bo (1893-1950) who was a very famous scholar in Korean studies wrote the foreword, and he complained that some people regarded Kim Jeong-hui was only a master of Evidential Learning (Gaozhengxue) which in fact was criticism against Fujitsuka's works. These points of view on Kim Jeong-hui influenced the narratives of history of Korean Confucianism. There isn't any mention of Kim Jeong-hui in The Origin of Korean Confucianism published in 1922. In 1949, however, in the Histoly of Chosun Dynasty Confucianism explained that Kim Jeong-hui is one of the important Confucian scholar of late Joseon Dynasty. Through these debates between the scholars of Korea and Japan during the Colonial Period of Japan, Kim Jeong-hui gradually gained the reputation as both scholar and calligraphe
