Coordination of olefins and N-donor ligands at the fragment [2,6-bis((diphenylphosphino)methyl)pyridine]palladium(II). Synthesis, structure, and amination of the new dicationic complexes [Pd(PNP)(CH2=CHR)](BF4)(2) (R=H, Ph)
Dicationic complexes of palladium(II) containing the tridentate ligand 2,6-bis((diphenylphosphino)methyl)pyridine (PNP) of the general formula [Pd(PNP)L](BF4)(2) (L = MeCN, pyridine, C2H4, CH2=CHPh) have been prepared from Pd(PNP)Cl-2 by addition of 2 equiv of AgBF4 in the presence of an excess of the respective ligand L in CH2Cl2. The corresponding amine complex (L = NHMe2) was obtained by substitution of the acetonitrile from [Pd(PNP)(MeCN)](BF4)(2) by NHMe2 at 0 degrees C. The complexes were characterized by H-1, C-13, and P-31 NMR spectroscopy, and the molecular structure of the styrene complex was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The spectral and structural parameters of the complexes are discussed in comparison to those of the recently prepared Rh(I) analogues. Nucleophilic attack of secondary amines on the coordinated olefins gave the corresponding beta-aminoethyl complexes from which, upon reductive degradation, the respective ethylamines were obtained, showing selective anti-Markovnikov addition in the case of the styrene complex
Transforming the Short-Term Sensing Stimuli to Long-Term E-Skin Memory
A Tantalum Pentoxide (Ta2O5) based resistive nonvolatile memory device with bipolar switching behaviour was developed to demonstrate the new concept of memory in e-skin. The memory device showed stable switching behavior under preprogrammed voltage stimuli after an initial forming process. The memory cell was then integrated with a commercial tactile sensor with a new interface circuit, which enabled the switching of the memory cell through the electrical output from the sensor. This study provides a novel method for handling the transport and storage of large tactile data and will trigger advances towards memorable e-skin
ZnO Nanowires Based Flexible UV Photodetectors for Wearable Dosimetry
This paper presents flexible ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors (PDs) based on zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires (NWs) for wearable dosimetry. High-crystal quality ZnO NWs are synthesized by chemical vapour transport on sapphire substrates, and thereafter, they were transferred to flexible substrate and aligned using dielectrophoresis (DEP). The control over DEP parameters permits creating large-area arrays of PDs. The PDs show photocurrent to dark current ratios above 103%, fast response times (<;1 s), high sensitivity to different UV light intensities, and good stability under several UV/dark irradiation cycles. In addition, resulting PDs present an excellent robustness and feasibility under extreme bending conditions, making these devices suitable for wearable dosimetry
