HOMFLY polynomials of torus links as generalized Fibonacci polynomials
The focus of this paper is to study the HOMFLY polynomial of (2, n)-torus link as a generalized Fibonacci polynomial. For this purpose, we first introduce a form of generalized Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials and provide their some fundamental properties. We define the HOMFLY polynomial of (2, n)-torus link with a way similar to our generalized Fibonacci polynomials and provide its fundamental properties. We also show that the HOMFLY polynomial of (2, n)-torus link can be obtained from its Alexander-Conway polynomial or the classical Fibonacci polynomial. We finally give the matrix representations and prove important identities, which are similar to the Fibonacci identities, for the our generalized Fibonacci polynomial and the HOMFLY polynomial of (2, n)-torus link
A generalization of the Alexander polynomial as an application of the delta derivative
In this paper, we define the delta derivative in the integer group ring and we show that the delta derivative is well defined on the free groups. We also define a polynomial invariant of oriented knot and link by carrying the delta derivative to the link group. Since the delta derivative is a generalization of the free derivative, this polynomial invariant called the delta polynomial is a generalization of the Alexander polynomial. In addition, we present a new polynomial called the difference polynomial of oriented knot and link, which is similar to the Alexander polynomial and is a special case of the delta polynomial
MANOVA vs nonlinear mixed effects modeling: The comparison of growth patterns of female and male quail
2nd International Conference on Advances in Natural and Applied Sciences (ICANAS) -- APR 18-21, 2017 -- Antalya, TURKEYThe most commonly used methods for analyzing time-dependent data are multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and nonlinear regression models. The aim of this study was to compare some MANOVA techniques and nonlinear mixed modeling approach for investigation of growth differentiation in female and male Japanese quail. Weekly individual body weight data of 352 male and 335 female quail from hatch to 8 weeks of age were used to perform analyses. It is possible to say that when all the analyses are evaluated, the nonlinear mixed modeling is superior to the other techniques because it also reveals the individual variation. In addition, the profile analysis also provides important information.Agri Ibrahim Cecen Univ, IC FdnNamik Kemal University Scientific Research Projects Coordination UnitNamik Kemal University [NKUBAP.03.GA.16.033]This study was funded with the number NKUBAP.03.GA.16.033 by Namik Kemal University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit
Reading Turkish Modernization In Kemal Tahir Novels: A Classification Suggestion
Kemal Tahir published one book of stories and 14 novels from 1955 until his death in 1973. After his death, five novels which were found among the author's notes were published by his wife and relatives. The author's novels, especially those published by himself, contain a certain integrity. This situation has led to the classification of the novels, with various classifications have been developed in the studies on the author. These classifications are important in terms of evaluating the author's novels and the thoughts he put forward through his novels. His novels are generally classified as village and urban novels. However, such a distinction limits the correct evaluation of the author's novels. Such a distinction, which has become increasingly widespread in studies on the author and which sets strict boundaries between the novels, breaks the connection between novels characterized as rural novels and novels characterized as urban or city novels. Based on the idea of a holistic evaluation of the author's novels, this study aims to propose a holistic reading rather than a distinction between his novels. With such a reading, it will be possible to see how the Turkey of 1890-1945 is portrayed by the author, both in the urban zones and in the provinces, through interconnected novels
Telecom customer churn prediction
Customer churn is often referred to as customer attrition, or customer defection which is the rate at which the customers are lost. Telecom companies often use customer churn as a key business metrics to predict the number of customers that will leave a telecom service provider. Churn is significant in the telecommunication industry because it directly affects the competitiveness of the service provider. In this work, Logistic Regression and Random Forest performed better than Decision Tree for customer churn analysi
Shape theory and topological statistics
In this work we consider a survey on the geometric statistics and shape theory to understand how we may utilize shape information to learn from data.Presented at the INFORMS 2019 Annual Conference, Washington State Convention Center, Seattle, Washington, on October 20, 2019, 4:30 PM
Neural networks for text classification
With the instant growth of information, text classification has become a vital technique for handling and organizing text data. It plays an important role in information extraction, text summarization, text retrieval, medical diagnosis, news group filtering, spam filtering, and sentiment analysis. Text classification is a foundation task in many Natural Language Processing(NLP) application
Masculinity, Femininity and Sexuality as a Means Of Understanding and Describing Villages and Villagers in Kemal Tahir Village Novels
Kemal Tahir's novels are an important subject of discussion in the field of social sciences as well as in the field of literature. These debates arise from the theses put forward by the author on the history of Turkish society in the novels he wrote after 1960. Kemal Tahir focused on the village in his novels written before 1960. He tries to get to know the Anatolian people in these novels. In these novels, the Anatolian village is discussed differently from the other village novels of the period, and this situation is a subject of criticism. The main criticism is that sexuality is used extensively in these novels. However, a careful reading of these novels shows that the author uses sexuality as a tool to describe the people of the village. In these novels, Kemal Tahir tries to understand the social structure of the village in every aspect and to explain the village people with all their weaknesses. The most important tools he uses in this endeavor are masculinity, femininity and sexuality. In addition, using these facts, the dominant village narrative of the period is criticized. This study aims to examine the use of masculinity, femininity and sexuality in Kemal Tahir's village novels
