Experimental analysis of transient and steady-state heat transfer from an impinging jet to a moving plate
In this study, the transient and steady-state heat transfer caused by an air jet impinging on a heated plate moving back and forth in the horizontal direction is investigated experimentally. The jet flow issuing form nozzle of various geometry (circular, triangle, square) is impinged on rough and smooth surfaces. In addition, Reynolds number (jet velocity), distance between the nozzle and the plate, plate velocity and stroke are considered as independent parameters that could affect the heat transfer.The optimum number of experiments is determined with the help of Taguchi design of experiment method. The transient and steady-state heat transfer are analyzed by means a high-technology thermal camera. Local and average Nusselt numbers representing the heat transfer characteristics are calculated in response to the variable parameters. Comparative graphs and ANOVA test results are presented and evaluated in order to determine the effects of parameters on heat transfer. As a result, it has been seen that Reynolds number (82%) is the most dominant parameter affecting heat transfer. University from the eye of the users through the transition to the ERMS.

Peride Celal’in Tiyatro Dünyasını Konu Alan Romanı: “Rüyalar Evi”
Between the years of 1935, from when she published her first story, and 2002, when she published her last novel Deli Ask, Peride Celal (Yonsel) was known as a unique writer with both the subjects she covered and her researcher identity in the art of novel writing. Peride Celal ' s writing career can be divided into two periods. During the first fifteen years of her writing career (1935-1950), she wrote popular works focusing on love and adventure in the category of romance, and with her novel Uc Kadinin Romani (1954), she entered her period of mastery, where her novel technique gained importance and she wrote more realistic and qualified works based on observation. Celal ' s early novels, which were serialized in periodicals before being published in book form, were effective in increasing the circulation of the daily newspapers in which they were published and helped in making the ' novel ' genre more appealing to the readers they reached. Peride Celal ' s success in narration with her clean and fluent Turkish, which is the most prominent feature of her novels, has been observed since her first novels. Nevertheless, Peride Celal did not adopt her first period novels, wrote with the concern of making a living and did not allow her works to be published in book form. The novel Ruyalar Evi (1951), which remains in the blind spot between the author ' s first and second period novels, is one of the works that the author does not want to remember. This novel, which has remained in the newspaper pages since the day it was published in the newspaper titled Cumhuriyet, has not been included in any academic studies on Peride Celal until today. In this novel, Peride Celal summarizes the developmental stages of Turkish Theater between the years of 1900 and1950 by examining the actors, directors and works, and by mentioning many classical, contemporary, and local and foreign plays along with stage artists. The two main characters of the work, Nemide Gencay and Ahmed Cem, are reminiscent of Neyyire Neyyir and Muhsin Ertugrul. The aim of this study is to determine the place of Ruyalar Evi among Peride Celal ' s novels in terms of its subject matter and mounting, and to ensure that the novel takes its rightful place in Turkish literature alongside novels that deal directly with the art of theater
Ethical dilemmas experienced by midwives working in the delivery room
Background: Midwives frequently encounter ethical dilemmas in a critical unit such as a delivery room. Determining these ethical dilemmas is very important to prevent ethical problems and develop an ethical approach. Aim: This study aims to identify the ethical dilemma experiences of midwives working in delivery rooms in Turkey. Research design: This study follows a qualitative phenomenological research design. Participants and research context: The sample comprised 13 midwives with at least two years working experience in delivery rooms, having completed the midwifery program of Manisa Celal Bayar University Health Sciences Institute in the 2017–2018 academic year. Data were collected through audio-recorded semi-structured interviews to reveal their experiences. Content analysis was done using the Nvivo software package program. All interviews were digitally recorded, transcribed verbatim, and transferred into NVivo for analysis. Ethical considerations: Ethical approval was granted by Manisa Celal Bayar University University Health Sciences Ethics Committee (Date: 16.12.2016 No: 372). Participation in this study was voluntary. Written and verbal consent was gained. These consents include protecting midwives’ privacy, keeping information confidential, and/or allowing the participant to remain anonymous. Findings: Four themes were identified: differences of approach to the birth process, hospital management, communication, and differences in ethical approach. Several factors explained these ethical dilemmas while the midwives adopted different approaches to ethical decision making. Discussion: These midwives experienced various dilemmas while working in the delivery room and are aware of most of them. They also took responsibility in the decision-making process and experienced many intense emotions that they had to cope with. Conclusion: The ethical dilemmas faced by these midwives while working in delivery rooms were mainly caused by hierarchy. Future studies could investigate clarifying job descriptions of midwives, who are authorized to manage normal births under their own responsibility, within the hospital management and the health care team. © The Author(s) 2022
Türk Edebiyatındaki Kadın Yazarların Romanlarında Annelik Temsilinin Feminist Kuramlarla Analizi: Aysel Özakın, Erendiz Atasü, Peride Celal, Sevgi Soysal
This research determined, how the representations of motherhood in the novels of Aysel Özakın, Erendiz Atasü, Peride Celal and Sevgi Soysal are processed has been discussed and these representations have been analyzed by feminist theories. In this context, two books of each author were considered, and the novels were evaluated using the qualitative content analysis technique. These novels are: Tante Rosa, Yürümek, Genç Kız ve Ölüm, Alnında Mavi Kuşlar, Üç Yirmidört Saat, Güz Şarkısı, Bir Yaşdönümü Rüyası ve Güneş Saygılı’nın Gerçek Yaşamı. This study aims to is to reveal how the phenomenon of motherhood, which is a controversial issue, is processed through literary texts together with feminist theories. In this way, it has been determined how the authors examined are influenced by feminist theories (liberal, existentialist, radical). At the same time, the development of the concept of motherhood, its history, and the discussions of feminist theories on this issue has been included in the relevant literature. Along with the identification of thematic analysis units, the research data are divided into six themes. These themes are; Motherhood Questioning Patriarchy, Stereotypes about Motherhood and Femininity under the title Motherhood Reinforcing Patriarchy, Mother-Child (Daughter) Relationships, Pregnancy and Childbirth, Birth Control and Abortion and Stepmotherhood. As a result of the researches, it was determined that the effects of existential feminism and radical feminism were seen more in the novels examined, while the effect of liberal feminism was limited.Bu araştırmada, Aysel Özakın, Erendiz Atasü, Peride Celal ve Sevgi Soysal’ın romanlarındaki annelik temsillerinin nasıl işlendiği konu edilmiş ve bu temsillerin feminist kuramlarca analizi yapılmıştır. Bu kapsamda her yazarın ikişer romanı ele alınarak, romanlar nitel içerik analizi tekniğiyle değerlendirilmiştir. Bu romanlar: Tante Rosa, Yürümek, Genç Kız ve Ölüm, Alnında Mavi Kuşlar, Üç Yirmidört Saat, Güz Şarkısı, Bir Yaşdönümü Rüyası ve Güneş Saygılı’nın Gerçek Yaşamı’dır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, tartışmalı bir mesele olan annelik olgusunun feminist kuramlarla birlikte edebi metinler üzerinden nasıl işlendiğinin ortaya çıkarılmasıdır. Bu şekilde incelenen yazarların feminist kuramlardan (liberal, varoluşçu, radikal) ne şekilde etkilendiği tespit edilmiştir. Aynı zamanda ilgili literatürde annelik kavramının gelişimi, tarihçesi ve yapılan araştırmalarla feminist kuramların bu konuya yönelik tartışmaları yer almıştır. Tematik analiz birimlerinin tespitiyle birlikte araştırma verileri altı temaya ayrılmıştır. Bu temalar; Ataerkiyi Sorgulayan Annelik, Ataerkiyi Pekiştiren Annelik başlığı altında Annelik ve Kadınlıkla İlgili Kalıp Yargılar, Anne-Çocuk (Kız) İlişkileri, Hamilelik ve Doğum, Doğum Kontrolü ve Kürtaj ve Üvey Anneliktir. Araştırmanın sonucunda belirlenen yazarların romanlarında en çok varoluşçu ve radikal feminizmin etkileri görülürken liberal feminizmin etkisinin sınırlı olduğu tespit edilmiştir
In terms of Turkısh education the work named 'Yeni Alfabe ve İmla Dersleri' by Celal Nuri İleri
Asıl adı Mehmet Celalettin olan, çalışma hayatına avukatlıkla başlayan ancak asıl faaliyet gösterdiği alan gazetecilik olan Celal Nuri İleri'nin yazmış olduğu "Yeni Alfabe ve İmla Dersleri" (1928) adlı eser, dönemin Türkçesi ile Latin harflerini anlatan bir ilkokuma ve yazma kitabı olmasının yanı sıra içerisinde dil bilgisi konularını da barındıran bir eserdir. Çalışmanın iki boyutu bulunmaktadır. Birinci boyutta eserin Latin harflerine aktarımı söz konusudur. Latin harflerine aktarımı sırasında eserin orijinaline sadık kalınmaya çalışılmıştır. Eserin Latin harflerine aktarımından sonra ise eser, Türkçe öğretimi açısından dil, biçim, içerik ve dil öğretim ilke, yöntem ve tekniklerine göre değerlendirilmiştir. İki defa İkdam gazetesinde yayınlandıktan sonra 1928 yılının Eylül ayında kitap hâlinde basılan eser, 110 sayfadan oluşmaktadır. Müellifin fazla ayrıntıya girmeden yeni imlayı izaha giriştiği bu küçük hacimli eser; öncelikle 17 derse ayrılmıştır. Bu derslerin ilk on dördünde yeni alfabe ve imla kuralları izah edilirken son üç derste "Tatbikat" başlığı altında verilen derslerin daha iyi anlaşılmasını sağlamak için metin örneklerine yer verilmiştir. Kitabın sonunda yer alan Tab'dan Sonra İlaveler başlıklı kısmında ise 17 ders şeklinde anlatılan kaideler 10 maddede özetlenerek tekrar edilmiştir. İçerik bakımından oldukça zengin bulunan bu eserde Latin alfabesi öğretilmeye çalışılırken genel olarak kullanılan dilin Osmanlı Türkçesi olduğu görülmektedir. Ancak müellif, örnek kullanırken daha iyi anlaşılmasını ve aralarındaki farkın daha iyi görülmesini sağlaması açısından Latin alfabesinden de yararlanmıştır. Eserde Latin alfabesi öğretimi, ayrıntılı bir dil bilgisi anlatımı gibi yazılmamış konulardan genel olarak bahsedilmiştir. Bu konular seçilirken ise özellikle yeni imlanın eski imladan yani Osmanlı Türkçesinden ayrılan yönleri üzerinde durulduğu görülmektedir. Cumhuriyet'in ilanından Latin harflerinin kabulüne kadar olan sürede Latin harflerini tanıtmak ve öğretmek amacıyla kaleme alınan bu eser, ilkokuma ve yazma öğretimi açısından önemli bulunmuştur. Aynı zamanda Türkçe eğitimi açısından önemli olan dört temel dil becerisinden anlama becerileri olarak okuma ve yazma becerilerine ağırlık verildiği görülmüştür. Eser, Türkçe özel öğretim yöntemlerine göre değerlendirildiğinde ise eserde bütünlük, hayatîlik, bilinenden bilinmeyene, bireye özgü öğretim ilkesi olmak üzere dört ilke; anlatma ve gösterip yaptırma olmak üzere iki yöntem; soru-cevap, analiz-sentez, tamamlayıcı görev, özetleme, tekrar çalışması, ilgi kurma, anlamlandırarak kodlayarak öğrenme olmak üzere yedi teknik tespit edilmiştir. Eserin içerisinden bu ilke, yöntem ve tekniklere uygun örnekler verilmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Celal Nuri İleri, Yeni Alfabe ve İmla Dersleri, İlkokuma ve yazma öğretimi, Türkçe öğretimi, Latin alfabesi.The work named "Yeni Alfabe ve İmla Dersleri" written in 1928 by Celal Nuri İleri whose real name was Mehmet Celalettin who started his career as a lawyer but his main field of activity was journalism is a work that includes grammar subjects in addition to being a first reading and writing book describing Turkish of the period and the Latin alphabet. The research has two dimensions. In the first dimension, the work was transferred to Latin letters. During the transfer to Latin letters, the work was tried to be faithful to the original. After the translation of the work to Latin letters, it was examined in terms of language, form, content and teaching grammar. The work published into a book in September of 1928 after it was published twice in Ikdam newspaper consists of 110 pages. This small volume of work which the author attempted to explain the new orthography without much detail, was first divided into 17 lessons. While in the first fourteen of these courses, the new alphabet and orthography rules were explained, in the last three courses the text samples were included in order to provide a better understanding of the courses given under the heading "Exercise". At the end of the book in the section entitled Additions After Tabi, the principles described in the form of 17 courses were summarized and repeated in 10 articles. In this work, which is rich in content, it was observed that the language used in general is Ottoman Turkish while trying to teach Latin alphabet. However, the author also benefited from the Latin alphabet in order to make the difference between them better distinguished and better understood when using the example. In this work, the teaching of Latin alphabet is not written as detailed grammar knowledge, topics are mentioned in general. In the selection of these topics, it was seen that it is especially focused on aspects of the new orthography separated from the old orthography i.e. Ottoman Turkish. In the period from the proclamation of the Republic to the acceptance of the Latin letters, this work written in order to introduce and teach Latin letters was found important in terms of teaching first reading and writing. It has also been observed that it was given emphasis on reading and writing skills which are two skills of the four basic language skills that are important for Turkish education. When the work was evaluated according to Turkish special teaching methods, in this work, four principles including integrity, functionality, from the known to the unknown, the principle of individual-specific teaching, two methods including explaining and show it and make it done, seven techniques including question-answer, analysis-synthesis, complementary task, summarizing, re-study, referring, learning by coding meaning have been identified. Bu çalışmada kamu yönetiminde ve kamuya ait hastanelerde Toplam Kalite Yönetimi uygulamasının başarısı irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla TKY'nin amaçları, uygulamaları ve işleyişi hakkında bilgi verilmiş, TKY uygulamasına geçen Kartal SSK Hastanesi ile henüz bu uygulamaya geçmeyen Ümraniye Devlet Hastanesinde anket araştırması yapılarak hasta (müşteri) memnuniyeti tespit edilerek karşılaştırmaları yapılmıştır. Sonuçta "Kamu Hastanelerinde Toplam Kalite Yönetimi uygulanabilir mi?" sorusuna cevaplar aranmışta. Thesis searches and questions the possibilities of efficiently applying Total Quality Management in public service sectors, moreover offers guidelines for more contemporary approaches to state service providers by analyzing and presenting results obtained from some appHcations in Public Health Sector. State as a concept emerges from the common needs of citizens that live together. These needs have been provided to citizens by State, however as state became more and more complex and gigantic, control mechanisms that were established to maintain the quality and efficiency became increasingly sophisticated and complex mechanisms that started to preventing state from offering efficient services timely and at requested qualities. State is unable to provide requested quality and efficiency of services under it's current structure. Global and national developments and changes in demands of citizens led to a structural transformation in public administration. Alterations in the perception of 'public benefit' and 'public services' also led to a change in the understanding of the limitless state concept meaning that the state was no more a limitless source. Therefore, a survey has been carried out on traditional understandings of public administration. Henceforth, new techniques have been developed in order to offer high quality, efficient and transparent services that are harmonized with the continuing globalization processes. In parallel to the global changes in health services, expectations of citizens showed a shift towards higher quality, which enforced wider application of Total Quality Management systems. It is proposed that application of Total Quality Management in health sector, not only helps getting rid of the problems for effective functioning of the health institutions, but it also provides logical and effective solutions that meet the necessities of the epoch. This study aims to contribute to the transformation of managerial concepts in healthcare services in Turkey, by investigating the peculiarities of effective Total Quality Management applications in health sector. In conclusion, it is envisaged that efficiency and quality of services in Public Health Sector in Turkey can be improved by applying Total Quality Management applications, without any further cost to the state budget and without any further burden to the government. Moreover, a more human-oriented policy perspective could be applied, widened and digested. The belief developed from the study is that, earliest applications of "Total Quality Management" in Public Service Sector is the best approach and vitally important for achieving desired rapid transformation and developments in country at shortest periods.
