Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir: Pētīt apmierinātību ar darbu Profesionālās izglītības iestādē “TK” un tās pilnveides iespējas. Bakalaura darba empīriskajā daļā darba autore veic pētījumu Profesionālās izglītības iestādē “TK”. Uzņēmuma nosaukums tika mainīts konfidencialitātes nolūkos. Veicot pētījumu darba autore pielietos divas pētījuma metodes – SVID analīzi un aptauju. Aptaujā piedalījās 80 darbinieki no akadēmiskā personāla, 32 vīrieši un 48 sievietes, kuru vidējais vecums ir 46 gadi. Veicot pētīju darba autore noskaidroja darbinieku piekrišanu dažādām organizācijas funkcijām, vai tās pastāv organizācijā un noteica darbinieku vidējos apmierinātības rādītājus. Bakalaura darba apjoms 50 lpp., darbā ievietoti 10 attēli, 1 tabula, tika analizēti 24 avoti un pievienots 1 pielikums.Kristīne Dorofejenkova “Job satisfaction research and improvement in vocational education institutions "TK" case”. In the empirical part of the Bachelor's paper, the author carries out research in the vocational education institution "TK". The name of the company has been changed for confidentiality reasons. Two research methods - SWOT analysis and a survey will be used in the research. The survey was filled in by 80 academic staff members, 32 men and 48 women with an average age of 46 years. During the research author clarified the employee's agreement to the various functions of the organization, whether they exist in the organization and determined the average employee satisfaction ratios. No full textThis study aimed to determine the use of educational games to improve memorization of 1-20 numbers in TK Diponegoro Surabaya. This school is located at Jalan Kedung Sroko No.17 Surabaya. The sample of this study was the children of B group Diponegoro Kindergarten. The authors used descriptive qualitative methods. The author focused on how to apply the use of educational games to improve memorization numbers 1-20 at Tk Diponegoro Surabaya. The author made observations during the 3x meeting. Each meeting, they play a different educational game but with the same content. The subject of the research was Diponegoro Kindergarten with 20 students. The results showed that students were very enthusiastic in learning to memorize numbers 1-20 as well as improving children's fine motor skills..

Setiap pertemuan mereka memainkan game edukasi yang berbeda namun dengan isi materi yang sama. Subjek penelitian adalah TK Diponegoro yang berjumlah 20 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa sangat antusias dalam belajar menghapal angka 1-20 serta meningkatkan kemampuan motorik halus anak.

[[alternative]]The study of p53-mutated human non-small cell lung cancer cells transfected with HerpesSimplex Virus type I- thymidine kinase (HSV-tk) cDNA
No full text[[abstract]]In view of the functional loss of tumor suppressors being associated to drug resistance in most of lung cancers, we have demonstrated dose-dependent ganciclovir (GCV)-induced cytotoxicity following delivery of recombinant prodrug herpes simplex virus type I thymidine kinase (HSV-tk) cDNA in highly metastatic and tumorigenic human non-small-cell-lung cancer (NSCLC) cells H1437 with mutant p53 (R267P). It is found that cells with acquisition of HSV-tk cDNA conferred GCV susceptibility to the selected clones and the effect proved proportional to the level of HSV-TK expressed both in vivo and in vitro. The inhibition of cell proliferation in culture and the regression of xenograft tumors in nude mice were demonstrated caused by triggering senescence program as a result of GCV exposure in the selected HSV-tk clones. The potent bystander effects both in vivo and in vitro systems was found correlated with HSV-TK expressed accordingly. In addition, H1437 cells underwent ecotopic transfer of HSV-tk lead to S- and G2/M-phase arrest after GCV induction prior to emergence of senescence-like phenotype that expression of the senescence marker SA-β-gal and enlarged and fattened morphology. And we also observed that transfectant cells were growth-retarded after drug treatment by PKH67 fluorescence detection. To address more in-depth mechanism leading to senescence phenotype, we identified two steps prior to cell death as triggered by senescence progression: (a) decreased expression and activity of telomerase (b) escalation of endogenous cell cycle modulators, cyclin A and cyclin B1. Taken all the work together, we concluded that HSV-tk/GCV system constitutes an effective treatment in human NSCLC cells with mutated p53 and the pathway leading to cell death through senescence activation ought to become an alternative and effective approach in restraining growth of human NSCLC cells lacking functional p53.

bakalaureusetöö eesmärgiks oli uurida ja hinnata aktsiaseltsi TK-Team tegelikku
finantsolukorda ning välja selgitada, kas ettevõtet juhitakse efektiivselt ning anda soovitusi
finantsjuhtimise valdkonnas. Kasum müügikäibest on olnud 2009-2013 stabiilselt 9,5%.
Maksevõime suhtarvud on head. Varasid ja varusid kasutab ettevõte efektiivselt. Ettevõte
kasutab väga vähe võõrkapitali. Tasuvusnäitajad on samuti head. Autori soovitused
edaspidiseks kasumlikuks finantskäitumiseks: põhivara investeeringud, vähendada
debitoorset võlgnevust ning julgemalt kasutada finantsvõimendust suurendamaks kasumit
tulevikus.Although there has been various calculations of ratios for annual reports, no actual financial
analysis have been carried out within the TK-Team in the past. The aim of this dissertation
is to investigate and evaluate TK-Team’s actual financial situation, to identify if the business
has been managed effectively and give recommandations within the area of financial
management. Sales turnover has been relatively stable over the past five years and profits
have been an average of 9.5 per cent of sales turnover. TK-Team solvency ratios are very
good. Efficacy analysis of the ratios shows that the usage of assets and inventory by the
company is very effective. From the leverage ratios can be concluded that the usage of
external capital by the company is very little. TK-Team economic profitability is very good.
Author gives reccommendations for the company's management for future profitable
financial behaviour: investments in fixed assets, deal with the reduction of exponentially
increased accounts receivables, bolder use of financial leverage
Modelling and control of a variable-speed switched reluctance generator based wind turbine
No full textThis paper studies the system modelling and control aspects of switched reluctance generator (SRG) based variable speed wind turbines. A control system is implemented to provide proper operation of the SRG as well as power tracking capabilities for varying wind speeds. The control system for the grid side inverter that will allow the SRG to properly generate power to the system is also presented. Studies are presented of both the SRG and inverter control systems capabilities during a balanced three-phase fault. The paper will demonstrate that the SRG based wind turbine presents a feasible variable wind speed solution with good fault response capabilities

Utilizing a Quality Circle Team Approach to Design a Curriculum Resource Guide for the Tk-1 Teacher
No full textThe author designed a Curriculum Resource Guide for the TK-1 teacher using a Quality Circle Team approach. The intent of this practicum was to provide the TI-1 teachers with a Resource Guide to aid in curriculum planning for the TK-1 developmental placement class.
After reviewing results of surveys given to TK-1 teachers in Kent County, a guide was designed based on the results and research of specialists in the field of developmental placement. At the conclusion of the project each member of the Quality Circle Team was asked to rate the final product using a criterion referenced evaluation form which addressed each of the ten components. Criteria for each section was (a) Is the message clear? (b) Is it educationally sound? (c) Does it fit the TK-1 grade level? Participants could respond yes, no, or unclear. Every item showed a unanimous yes response for each component. The achievement of leadership effectiveness was rated high.
Recommendations were made to the PREP Office that the Curriculum Resource Guide should be considered for county adoption to be used by all TK-1 teachers and as a reference for other educators and parents. Appendices include surveys, evaluations, and the Curriculum Resource Guide for the TK-1 Teacher
