No full textIn this article the author argues for the need to develop and use a new paradigm in examining the role of women. By considering the significant role women played in the recent economic crisis in Indonesia which has been neglected by various parties, including scholars, the author prefers strongly to use the paradigm 'critics' in the studies about women. She explains further the difference between this paradigm and the 'interpretive' and positivism' paradigms. The use of the new paradigm would enable the researcher to examine the relevant issues, carry out a participative approach, as well as change the disadvantaged situations and roles the women have

No full textThis article generally describes the development of legal anthropological studies in Indonesia in the last 20-year period. First, this article proposes some notes concerning a number of papers written by scholars of this discipline as well as writers from other disciplines who are interested in legal anthropology. Second, this article describes teaching of legal anthropology in various universities in Indonesia, and the problems faced by lecturers of this field. Third, the writer provides information on all kinds of research in legal anthropology carried out the Indonesia researchers, and the problems that occurred in the studies and researches on legal anthropology in Indonesia. At the end, the writer specifically focus on important of researches, publication of writings on legal anthropology, and the trainings for legal anthropologist, e.g. through cooperation between Indonesia and foreign universities as a way to stimulate and encourage the development of legal anthropology in Indonesia

No full textSuatu uraian mengenai siapakah orang Toraja Sa'dan, yaitu suatu bagian dari suku bangsa yang dalam kepustakaan dikenal sebagai orang Toraja dan yang mendiami bagian tengah dari pulau Sulawesi, disajikan dalam Bab I, Bagian Pertama. Istilah suku-bangsa, kami gunakan sebagai suatu istilah yang fungsinya hanya sebagai penunjuk kepada golongan-golongan dalam masyarakat kita yang mempunyai ciri budaya sendiri disamping mempunyai ciri bersama dengan golongan lain dari bangsa kita. Tempat adat, atau hukum adat perkawinan, dalam hukum positip khususnya hukum positip yang berhubungan dengan soal-soal perkawinan dan akibat-akibatnya —, kami anggap perlu dipelajari dalam rangka Undang-undang Perkawinan yang telah diundangkan, yaitu Undang-undang Nomor 1 Tahun 1974, dan yang pelaksanaannya telah diatur dalam Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 9 Tahun 1975</jats:p
