The effect of giving herbal solution in drinking water on body weight gain, live weight, feed conversion, and eviscerated carcass local chicken
Indonesia is rich in herbal plants such as ginger, turmeric, and garlic, which are widely recognized for their health-promoting properties. These herbs contain bioactive compounds—gingerol, curcumin, and allicin—that act as antioxidants, antimicrobials, and digestive enhancers, offering potential benefits for livestock performance. In this study, an herbal solution was formulated by mixing equal parts of ginger, turmeric, garlic, and water. The research was conducted from August to September 2023 at the Poultry Production Laboratory and aimed to evaluate the effects of herbal solution supplementation in drinking water on the performance of local chickens. A total of 100 day-old local chicks, both male and female, were randomly assigned to four treatment groups with five replications each: T0 = drinking water only (control), T1 = 0.5% herbal solution, T2 = 1.0% herbal solution, and T3 = 1.5% herbal solution. The chickens were raised for 70 days, and performance parameters such as body weight gain, final live weight, feed conversion ratio, and eviscerated carcass yield were measured. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s multiple range test. The results indicated that supplementation with 1.0% herbal solution in drinking water yielded the most favorable outcomes across all measured parameters
Efek Penambahan Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa Bilimbi L.) Dalam Ransum Terhadap Performan, Karkas Dan Income Over Feed Cost Ayam Kampung
Starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) can serve as an acidifier which can improve digestive enzymes work, suppress the growth of pathogenic microbes, protecting feed from microbial and fungal attack and to improve the palatability of feed. The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of starfruit in the ration on the performance (feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion), the weight of carcass parts, fatty meats, and income over feed cost. The study used 80 chicks two weeks old village with a complete randomized block design experiment method. The treatment consisted of control diet (P0), and three levels of addition of starfruit (P1 = 0.5%; P2 = 1%; and P3 = 1.5%). Each treatment was repeated 5 times. Rations and water were given adlibitum. The trial period lasts for 30 days. Test performed to determine differences in Duncan. The results showed the addition of up to 5% starfruit into the ration does not affect the performance of chicken and chicken carcass weight parts. The highest value of income over feed cost was achieved by treatment with the addition of 0.5% ration starfruit juice
The effect of the level of faeces quails in the ration on final body weight, carcass, ration efficiency and internal organs of broiler chickens
Quails faeces contains good enough protein also energy and potential to be used as an alternative animal feed ingredient to reduce of production cost. Utilization of quail faeces in broiler ration can be directly given in the form of flour or fermented but however it has a limited to used. This study was aimed to determine the level of quail faeces in the ration that still produce good final body weight, carcass, ration efficiency and internal organs of broiler chickens. The study used 100 DOC of broilers that were divided into 20 units of cages, so each unit of cage consisted of 5 chickens. The study used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments that were one ration without quails faeces (R0) and three rations containing quails faeces ie R1 (7.5%), R2 (15%) and R3 (22.5%). The parameters measured were final body weight, ration efficiency, carcass and internal organs of broiler chickens. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance and the difference among treatments was analyzed by Duncan Test. The result of the research show that the rations containing quails faeces 15% still produce good final body weight, ration efficiency, carcass and internal organs of broiler chickens

The Effect of Additioning Microencapsulation Products of Noni Fruit Extract (Morinda citrifolia Linn) in The Ration on The Performance of Developer Phase Sentul Chickens
This study aims to determine the effect of adding microencapsulated noni fruit extract (MEBM) to the feed on the feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and sexual maturity age of Sentul phase developer chickens. The research was conducted from July to September 2023 at the Test Farm of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Padjadjaran University. The research method used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). There were five types of treatments, namely, P0 = basal ration without the addition of MEBM, P1 = basal ration + 50 mg/kg zinc bacitracin, P2 = basal ration + 75 mg/kg MEBM, P3 = basal ration + 150 mg/kg MEBM, P4 = basal ration + 225 mg/kg MEBM, and repeated four times. The measured variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and sexual maturity age of Sentul phase developer chickens. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance and the differences in effects were tested using the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test with P0 as the negative control and P1 as the positive control. The results of the study showed that the addition of microencapsulated noni fruit extract (MEBM) at levels of 225 mg to the ration providing the best result on body weight gain and feed conversion, but it does not have a significant effect on feed consumption and sexual maturity age of Sentul phase developer chickens. It can be inferred that the addition of MEBM up to 225 mg/kg in the ration can replace the role of AGP zinc bacitracin as an antibiotic
Pengaruh berat telur, luas permukaan, dan berat jenis, terhadap shape index telur puyuh (Coturnix coturnix japonica)
The research was held from 6th April 2023 to 6th Mei 2023 in Laboratory of Poultry Poduction, Padjadjaran University. The purpose of this research was to figure out the corellations between weight, surface area, and specific gravity on the shape index of quail eggs (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica). The method used in this research is corellational, and path analysis, with exogenous variables they are weight (X1), surface area (X2), specific gravity (X3) and one endogenous variable is shape index(Y). Sampling collects by purposive sampling with the criteria of eggshell integrity and uniform egg weight. The data obtained from the measurement results were then carried out the normality test, linearity test, Pearson correlation and path analysis. The results showed that the weight and surface area of the quail egg shape index has a correlation value of -0.194. Specific gravity with shape index quail eggs showed a correlation value of 0.013. Weight gives the greatest effect on the shape index of quail eggs (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) by 7.51%, surface area gives the effect on the shape index of quail eggs (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) by 0.62% and specific gravity gives a low effect on the shape index of quail eggs (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) 0.03%
Efforts to improve quality of duck egg yolk through giving rations containing Spirulina
Generally raising duck in Indonesia aims to produce eggs, thus the quality of eggs becomes important and determine the success marketing of business results. After increasing the production of eggs, people also tend to choose duck eggs that have a good quality. The Aspects that are usually to be the consumer consideration in choosing the good quality of duck eggs are the color of yolks are not pale, eggs have a large size and cleanliness of eggshell. It is well known that the diet has affects to the color of yolks, ie feed ingredients containing carotenoid pigments especially beta carotene and xanthophyll pigments. The Feed that contain a lots of beta carotene and xantophil pigments is in forage likes Spirulina (Spirulina Sp.). Spirulina (Spirulina Sp.) is a single cell protein (PST) microalga that can be a source of dye laying duck ration because of very high contains in fikocyanin, xanthophyll and beta-carotene. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with 5 doses treatment of addition of spirulina (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2%of the ration). Replication is done 4 times, so there are 20 unit of experiments and required 80 laying ducks. The observed variables include egg weight, yolk index, yolk percentage and yolk score. The results showed that egg weight, yolk index and yolk percentage were not significant. The addition of spirulina, one percent in ration (R2) can produce the standard quality of yolk which is in great demand by consumers with yolk score of 9.35

INCREASING REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN ECOTOURISM ACTIVITIES.
Regional competitivesness is originated from an internal forces that produce an
added value. The internal forces is based on technological innovation and
entrepreneurial abilities (Drabenstott, 2006). The innovation is illustrated as a fuel, while
entrepreneurship is the engine. Both are a source of employment, income and welfare.
An entrepreneurial ability of local people on ecotourism activities in the Bromo Tengger
Semeru National Park (BTS NP) has developed naturally (Nugroho, 2006; 2007;
Nugroho and Negara, 2008). The people are often involved in ecotourism development
programs held by the BTS NP. The author’s study (Nugroho, Negara and Purnomowati,
2010) proved that the ecotourism activities were economically viable than the
horticultural farm.
However, these experiences have not fully produced significant benefits in the
development of ecotourism. Characteristic of the ecotourism activities is a cluster (Fodor
and Sitanyi, 2008a, 2008b), which always put the local people in a less advantageous
position. The ecotourism cluster is an ecotourism organization (Prieto, Gilmore and Osiri,
2009) that involve the local people, non-governmental organizations, private actors, the
national parks and government to produce ecotourism entrepreneurship. The result of
research the author (Nugroho, Negara and Nugroho, 2009) shows that the phenomenon
of social entrepreneurship is an important component of conceptual framework of
ecotourism entrepreneurship. This requires all parties to act to be a social entrepreneur
in a framework of ecotourism organization.Iwan Nugroho, Purnawan D. Negara, and Wiwin Purnomowati. 2011.
