哥雅版畫研究
[[abstract]]本論文由三個不同的取向來研究哥雅的版畫作品,以期能探釋哥雅版畫的廣度與深度
,而對他的版畫有深入的了解。
論文第一章首先由政治的角度來探討哥雅的版畫作品。哥雅版畫并未呈現有系統的政
治理論,但卻對當時的政權和政治人物有所諷諭,對人民有所批評和期許,并表現了
實施憲政即實現真理的政治信念。第二章轉從宗教的角度來討論。哥雅版畫中并未有
描繪信仰光輝及獲得救贖的喜悅的的作品,他版畫中塑造出的是一個觸及當時許多宗
教問題與現象的宗教世界。
哥雅對當時社會的諷諭則為第三章的討論中心。「理性睡眠了」是他對當時社會的總
評。社會上的種種病態都成為他版畫中諷諭的對象。至於第四章則是以哥雅版畫中對
人性本質所作的省思為研究重點。哥雅特殊的人格特質和不凡的人生歷煉,造就他深
奧而敏銳的心靈,讓他得以透視表象底層,省視人類內在本質。對潛藏在人類心靈底
層的本能衝動––肉欲、食欲、攻擊欲–和它們在外力作用下而解放爆發的各種面貌
,哥雅有深刻體認。
第五章集中探討哥雅版畫的形式。哥雅版畫太多以量塊集中的中心化原則來構圖。光
線的運用則并未囿限於自然邏輯的法則,而以「配置」的方式來表現。空間亦是哥雅
版畫形式上極富表現力的要素,可分為不確定的空間和合理而精確的有限空間二類。
人物的表現則以想像與自然的融合為其主要特色。最后一章乃是針對哥雅的特殊版畫
技巧詳加論述。在銅版上,哥雅共使用了線條蝕刻、細點腐蝕、渲染腐蝕、直刻、雕
凹線等技法和磨刀、刮刀、滾點刀等工具。石版方面則以蠟筆在石版上直接描繪的方
式所創作的作品有較高成就。而這二個版種的技巧運用和表現上都呈現非常自由的面
貌。
哥雅的版畫的確根植於他所身處的時代,他的版畫不僅為他的時代留下歷史見證,也
反映了他對那時代的評斷與憂思。對於人性的本質,他亦有著深刻的關心。而賦予這
結豐富寓意永恆存在之實體的形式,則不但富有特殊美感而又具盎然生命力。另外,
在技巧表現上,哥雅自由流暢的技巧和他的表現主題更是有著密切連系。由六個取向
研究而致的不同啟示凸顯了哥雅版畫的豐富而多樣的本質,他的版畫的不朽和永恆也
由此獲得證實。
Advancing 3D scene understanding through discriminative and generative learning approaches
This thesis explores the crucial role of Computer Vision in endowing computers with general intelligence, focusing on developing algorithms that enable machines to perceive and understand their three-dimensional surroundings. The research is divided into two parts: discriminative and generative learning approaches, with
three core chapters formulating 3D scene understanding.
From a discriminative learning perspective, a novel approach to point cloud segmentation is devised, which is crucial for road scene perception. The proposed method processes point clouds as a whole while retaining local information, achieving high accuracy in segmenting objects from scenes despite the computational challenges
of processing large input data.
The generative learning approach focuses on generating entire 3D scenes from 2D images. Prior art methods in rendering 3D scenes via volumetric rendering are studied, and an end-to-end learning approach with transformers is proposed as an alternative to physics-based approaches. Novel methods to capture lighting
information of scenes, inspired by modern game engines, are devised to improve
rendering quality.
Further investigation into new rendering methods with rasterisation of 3D Gaussian spheres is conducted, along with a different method for capturing lighting information to enhance rendering quality.
The research contributes to the overarching goal of helping computers perceive and interact with the 3D world, offering numerous advantages for downstream applications such as autonomous vehicles, augmented reality, and virtual collaboration.Doctor of Philosoph

ISL-1 is overexpressed in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and promotes lymphoma cell proliferation by forming a p-STAT3/p-c-Jun/ISL-1 complex
Background: Insulin enhancer binding protein-1 (ISL-1), a LIM-homeodomain transcription factor, is essential for the heart, motor neuron and pancreas development. Recently, ISL-1 has been found in some types of human cancers. However, how ISL-1 exerts the role in tumor development is not clear. Methods and results: The expression of ISL-1 was assessed in 211 human lymphoma samples and 23 normal lymph node samples. Immunohistochemistry results demonstrated a markedly higher expression of ISL-1 in 75% of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) samples compared with that in normal lymph nodes or Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) samples. CCK-8 analysis, cell cycle assay and xenograft model were performed to characterize the association between ISL-1 expression level and biological functions in NHL. The results showed that ISL-1 overexpression obviously promoted NHL cells proliferation, changed the cell cycle distribution in vitro and significantly enhanced xenografted lymphoma development in vivo. Real-time PCR, Western blot, luciferase assay and ChIP assay were used to explore the potential regulatory targets of ISL-1 and the results demonstrated that ISL-1 activated the c-Myc expression in NHL by direct binding to a conserved binding site on the c-Myc enhancer. Further results revealed that ISL-1 could be positively regulated by the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathways. Both the JNK and JAK/STAT signaling inhibitors could significantly suppressed the growth of NHL cells through the down-regulation of ISL-1 as demonstrated by CCK-8 and Western blot assays. Bioinformatic analysis and luciferase assay exhibited that ISL-1 was a novel target of p-STAT3 and p-c-jun. ChIP, Co-IP and ChIP-re-IP analysis revealed that ISL-1 could participate with p-STAT3 and p-c-Jun to form a p-STAT3/p-c-Jun/ISL-1 transcriptional complex that binds directly on the ISL-1 promoter, demonstrating a positive feedback regulatory mechanism for ISL-1 expression in NHL. In argumentation,the anaphoric demonstrative usage in the Japanese language is completely different from that of the Chinese language. In Japanese,the usage of demonstratives relate directly to the author's state opinions. "Ko-" series is used when the referential content is a subjective statement,which author judges and states his/her perspective. "So-" series is used when the referential content is the objective statement of the fact or the others' behaviors,opinions,etc. In Chinese,as the demonstratives in argumentation basically instruct the content which is just mentioned,consequently Chinese use proximal demonstrativs "zhe-" series in practice,but if the event has already happened a long time ago or will happen in the far future,Chinese use distal demonstratives "na-" series in most cases. Both in Japanese and Chinese,proximal demonstrative is used in cataphoric expression. In argumentation,as well as in nove1,there are some cases that Japanese and Chinese express are totally different according to the particular syntactical structure and wording
Vertical position, specific gravity and swimming ability of Pacific cod Gadus macrocephalus yolk-sac larvae reared at four temperatures
Vertical position and movement rate were measured in the yolk-sac larvae of the Pacific cod Gadus macrocephalus at different rearing temperatures (3, 5, 7, and 9 A degrees C) and an identical temperature of 5 A degrees C in experimental columns during the initial 3 days post-hatch (dph). Larval specific gravity was also measured through sinking velocities. Yolk-sac larvae swam upward and initially (0 dph) remained in the upper section of the experimental column through intermittent upward swimming, and gradually moved to near-neutral buoyancy at 3 dph at corresponding rearing temperatures. Rearing temperature significantly affected the swimming ability: at 0 dph, vertical movement rates measured at 5 A degrees C were low in the yolk-sac larvae reared at warm temperatures. However, no such difference was observed at 3 dph. The difference in vertical movement rate may have resulted from the temperature-mediated body sizes (standard length) and yolk-sac sizes (yolk-sac volume) at hatching. Specific gravity did not change for the varying temperatures during the initial 3 days, but decreased as ontogeny progressed. Therefore, we suggest that Pacific cod yolk-sac larvae achieve a demersal-pelagic habitat transition through upward swimming and increasing buoyancy
