Does “Nei Juan” affect “Tang Ping” for hotel employees? The moderating effect of effort-reward imbalance.

    No full text
Nei Juan and Tang Ping, the two popular buzzwords in Chinese online communication, reflect the work behavior of the younger generation of China. By employing time-lagged data from eight upscale hotels with matched responses, we not only revealed that Nei Juan (i.e., involution measured by suffering compulsory citizenship behavior) affected Tang Ping (i.e., lying flat measured by adopting work withdrawal behavior) via emotional exhaustion and workplace anxiety but also effort-reward imbalance intensified the negative effect of Nei Juan on Tang Ping. Through two diametrically opposed words (i.e., Nei Juan representing "excessive competition" and Tang Ping representing "withdrawal from competition"), reflecting the frustration of the younger generation in the fierce competition in China, we argue that, to our understanding, this study might be the first attempt to explore the mechanism and mitigation of how Nei Juan affects Tang Ping from the younger generation perspective, which may contribute to the existing literature.補正完畢US

The article considers a new for the Chinese society philosophy of young people’s lifestyle represented by the concept of TANG PING (to lie flat). The study relevance is due to the tendency for emergence of words and expressions that represent new phenomena of reality in the Chinese language. It is noted that in 2021, the expression to lie flat has become popular in China, and the phenomenon that it designates has been actively discussed not only in everyday Internet communication, but also in the media. It is shown that several publications on this topic have also appeared in the Russian Internet discourse. The article analyzes the perception of the precisely translated Chinese expression to lie flat as a symbol of the contemporary Chinese culture by the Russians based on Internet texts and the online survey results. It is shown that the Chinese concept is closely related to the Russian literary phenomenon “Oblomovism”. There are presented the views of Chinese researchers on “Oblomovism” and its similarities and differences with the new phenomenon in the life of young generations of the Chinese society. The practical significance of the study lies in clarifying the semantic volume of the expression tang ping (to lie flat) as a linguistic unit naming a current phenomenon in the life of a modern developed society which has become widespread not only in China, but also in other countries

The aim of proposed project is to develop a web-based system called Online Home Finder System. Day by day the burden of house for sale or rent advertisement under classified section in newspaper keeps on increasing and is quite hard and also quite wasting time for house seekers to find their house. In this new era, internet grow rapidly and becoming an attractive advertising media for various sectors. HousingLane.com.my is among the successful online advertising locally from those four existing systems that I studied and analyzed. Quite similar to HousingLane.com.my concept in the sense to allow advertiser to place advertisement at website and the website would provide searchable database for targeted viewers. This project draft which covered specifications for developing OHFS. Chapter I present introduction defmes project overview, objectives, scope limitations, expected come project and the targeted users. The next chapter, Chapter 2 is discuss about the finding of literature review has been carried out earlier which include judgments and opinions on existing system that being studied and analyzed. Discuss various supporting tools and technologies that related to develop project also done in this chapter. Chapter 3 is focusing in the discussion about the methodology will be implemented in system development process. It also discusses the reasons of selecting proposed methodology to a next deeper step. For Chapter 4, it discuss about the various requirements analysis have been carried out in. Functional and non-functional requirements are completely documented in this chapter. It also included the summary of tools and technologies chosen to develop system. Chapter 5 are presents system design using various techniques such as context diagram, data flow diagram and flow diagram. It also include with database design and user interface design

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Data_Sheet_1_How do Chinese people evaluate “Tang-Ping” (lying flat) and effort-making: The moderation effect of return expectation.docx

    No full text
“Tang-Ping” (TP), referring to “lying flat” literally, has been a buzzword in China web media since 2021. As the opponent of effort-making (EM) behaviors which have both instrumental and purpose values in Confucian culture, TP has a negative moral implication in China and has been criticized by the state-owned media. Meanwhile, the meaning of TP also contains a negative form of resistance toward social and organizational inequality, which may be acceptable under unfair circumstances. This study employed the imagined-scenario method to investigate the public’s moral evaluations of TP and EM behaviors under conditions of different return expectations. An online questionnaire with 2 (TP vs. EM) by 2 (low vs. high return expectation) between-participants designed scenarios were employed, along with the measurements of obligation belief of effort (OBE) and improvement belief of effort (IBE) scales (N = 210). The results found that (1) TP behaviors were evaluated as morally wrong in general, while EM behaviors were morally right; (2) the return expectation of the scenario moderated the behavior type’s effect on moral evaluation, that EM behaviors were evaluated positively regardless of return expectation, while TP behaviors became acceptable with a neutral score under the low return expectation; (3) both OBE and IBE correlated positively with evaluations of EM while negatively with evaluations of TP. The theoretical and practical implications were discussed.</p
