Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The effect on O2, CO2, temperature, pressure and pH of ambient temperatures in corn silage ensiled with two different techniques (vacuum-compaction) in a multi-sensor based laboratory type ensiling system
Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Biyosistem Mühendisliği Ana Bilim DalıÇalışma laboratuvar koşulları için geliştirilen multi-sensörlü silaj yapım ve veri toplama sistemi kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Sistemde iki farklı silolama tekniği (Vakumlama-Sıkıştırma) kullanılarak sıkıştırma yapılmıştır. Çalışmalar II. ürün mısır materyali ile yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın temel amacı her iki teknik ile yapılan silaj örneklerinde ortam sıcaklıklarının etkisini incelemek ve silolama amaçlı kullanılan yöntemlerin silaj örnekleri üzerinde etkilerini incelemektir. Bu amaçla iki farklı yöntem ile yapılan silajlar farklı ortam sıcaklığında (Sıcak iklim koşulu-Normal koşullar) depolanmıştır. Silaj örneklerinde sistem üzerinde mevcut oksijen, karbondioksit, sıcaklık, basınç ve pH sensörleri ile veri kaydı yapılarak ortalama veriler değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonuçlarında ortam sıcaklıklarının hem vakumlama (Y1) hem de sıkıştırma (Y2) yöntemi ile elde edilen silajlar üzerinde etkisi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca ortam sıcaklığının silaj kalitesini belirleyen parametreler (sıcaklık, pH, basınç, oksijen ve karbondioksit) üzerinde de etkisi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Y1 yöntemi ile elde edilen silajların sıcaklıklarının Y2 yönteminde silolanan örneklere göre daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Y2 yöntemi ile elde edilen silajların basınç değerlerinin Y1 yöntemi ile elde edilen silaj örneklerinden daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yöntemler arası karbondioksit değerleri karşılaştırıldığında en yüksek değerler Y2 yönteminde elde edilmiştir. Oksijen değerleri ise Y1 yönteminde elde edilen silaj örneklerinde daha yüksek bulunmuştur. En yüksek pH değerleri ise Y1 yönteminde elde edilmiştir. In the system, compaction was made by using two different ensiling techniques (Vacuuming-Compression). Studies II. the product is made with corn material. The main purpose of the study is to examine the effect of ambient temperatures on silage samples made with both techniques and to examine the effects of methods used for silage purposes on silage samples. For this purpose, silages made with two different methods were stored at different ambient temperatures (Warm climate condition-Normal conditions). In the silage samples, data were recorded with the oxygen, carbon dioxide, temperature, pressure and pH sensors available on the system and the average data were evaluated. Effect of bokashi compost prepared using useful microorganism on silage maize yield
Bu araştırmada, faydalı mikroorganizma aşılanarak hazırlanan bukaşi kompostun silajlık mısır yetiştiriciliğinde kullanılarak, mısırın verim ve verime etkili özellikleri üzerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla çalışmada üç ayrı yöntem oluşturulmuştur. Bunlar; Bukaşi kompost uygulama yöntemi (M1), Geleneksel yöntem (M2) ve kontrol yöntemi (M3) dir. Bu çalışmada M1, M2 ve M3 parsellerinden elde edilen silajlık mısır bitkilerine ait incelenen özelliklerde, üç uygulama bakımından aralarında fark olup olmadığını bulmak üzere tek yönlü varyans analizi yapılmıştır. Genel olarak incelendiğinde; koçan dolu ağırlığı, koçan boş ağırlığı, bitki ağırlığı, yaprak ağırlığı, sap kalınlığı, yaprak sayısı, koçan/bitki oranı ve yaprak/sap oranına ait ortalamaların üç uygulamada istatistiksel olarak önemli farklılıklar gösterdikleri görülmektedir. Koçan ağırlıkları M1' de 246 g olup, M'2 den %3.5, M3' den %34.7 daha fazla olmuştur. Sap kalınlığı M1' de 8.23 cm olup, M'2 den %6.4, M3' den %10.9 daha fazla olmuştur. Genel bitki görünümü, koçan görünümü ve incelenen tüm özellikler M1' de en iyi olurken, sadece sap ağırlığı M2 yönteminde daha fazla bulunmuştur. Bitki boyu ve koçan yüksekliği arasında yüksek korelasyon olup pozitif yönlü ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Uygulama sonrası toprak analizlerinde bukaşi uygulaması (M1) yapılan toprakların organik madde içeriği en yüksek (%2.19) olarak saptanmıştır. Silajlık kıyılan materyallerde yapılan analizlerde ise; materyalin ham protein, ham selüloz ve ham kül değerlerinde artış belirlenmiştir. Parsel verimleri açısından en yüksek değer M2 yönteminde 7011.92 kg/da, M1 'de 6402.15 kg/da, M3' de 4617.11 kg/da olarak hesaplanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre bukaşi kompostu silajlık mısır bitkisinin verime dayalı özellikleri üzerinde pozitif etkiye neden olduğu görülmektedir.In this study, the effect of bokashi compost prepared on inoculation with beneficial microorganism on yield and yield effective properties of corn in silage maize cultivation was investigated. For this purpose, three different methods (Bokashi compost application method (M1), Traditional method (M2) and control method (M3)) were applied. In this study, one-way analysis of variance was performed to find out whether there is a difference between the three applications in the properties examined in M1, M2 and M3 methods. When examined in general; cob weight, cob empty weight, plant weight, leaf weight, stalk thickness, number of leaves, cob / plant ratio and average leaf / stalk ratio were found to show statistically significant differences in three applications. Core weights were 246 g at M1, 3.5% higher than M'2, 34.7% higher than M3. Stalk thickness was 8.23 cm at M1, 6.4% from M'2 and 10.9% higher than M3. The overall plant appearance, cob appearance and all the characteristics examined were the best in M1, while only the stem weight was found to be higher in M2 method. There was a high correlation between plant height and ear height, which was positive and statistically significant. In the soil analysis after the application, the highest organic matter content (2.19%) of the soils with bukashi application (M1) was determined. In the analysis of silage minced materials; raw protein, crude cellulose and raw ash values of the material increased. The highest value in terms of parcel yield was calculated as 7011.92 kg / da in M2 method, 6402.15 kg / da in M1 and 4617.11 kg / da in M3. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Investigation of mixing time and efficiency in horizontal and vertical screw type feed mixing machines with small capacity
Hayvancılık işletmelerinde maliyetin önemli bir kısmını oluşturan yem maddelerinin temini, işletme gelirlerini önemli ölçüde etkilemektedir. İşletmelerin maliyelerini azaltmak ve üretim devamlılığını sürdürebilmek için kaliteli yem kullanımı ve hazırlığı önemli bir etkendir. Hayvancılık işletmelerinde iyi bir rasyonun oluşturulabilmesi için yem hammaddelerinin etkin bir karışıma sahip olması istenmektedir. Yem karma makineleri TMR oluşturma, kısa sürede etkin parça boyu sağlama ve karışımda homojenliğin sağlanmasında oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada küçük hacimli 3 yem karma makinesinde (YKM1, YKM2, YKM3) çalışmalar yürütülmüştür. Saman ve silaj materyaller 5, 10, 15 ve 20 dakikalık karışım sürelerinde karıştırılarak, yem vagonlarından numuneler alınmış ve tüm örneklerde yem materyallerinin parça boyutları ölçülmüştür. Örneklerde parça boyu dağılım oranları ve frekans dağılımları belirlenmiştir. Karışım sonrası TMR yemlerde (saman+silaj+karma yem) homojenlik oranı incelenmiştir. Denemelerde ele alınan yem karma makinelerinin çeşitlerinin ve uygulanan karıştırma sürelerinin elde edilen parça boyu üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğu (P<0.05) belirlenmiştir. İncelenen karıştırma süreleri de istatistiki açıdan önemli bulunmuş (P<0.05) ve her biri ayrı gruplarda yer almıştır. En yüksek homojenlik oranı sırasıyla YKM1' de %95,08, YKM2' de %82,88, YKM3' de %63,42 olmuştur.The supply of feed materials, which constitutes a significant part of the cost in livestock enterprises, significantly affects the income of the enterprise. The use and preparation of quality feed is an important factor in reducing the costs of the enterprises and maintaining the continuity of production. In order to create a good ration in livestock enterprises, it is required that the feed raw materials have an effective mixture. Feed mixing machines are very important in creating TMR, providing effective piece size in a short time and ensuring homogeneity in the mixture. In this study, studies were carried out on 3 small volume feed mixers (YKM1, YKM2, YKM3). Straw and silage materials were mixed at mixing times of 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes, samples were taken from the feed wagons and the particle sizes of the feed materials were measured in all samples. Particle size distribution ratios and frequency distributions were determined in the samples. After mixing, homogeneity ratio of TMR feeds (straw + silage + mixed feed) was investigated. It was determined that the types of feed mixers and the mixing times applied in the trials had a significant effect on the particle size obtained (P<0.05). The mixing times examined were also found to be statistically significant (P<0.05) and each of them took place in separate groups. The highest homogeneity rate was 95.08% in YKM1, 82.88% in YKM2 and 63.42% in YKM3, respectively

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
