Tiia Reimand (sünd 19.09.1967, neiuna Pruuli) kaitses doktoriväitekirja 15. jaanuaril 2007 teemal „Down syndrome in Estonia“ („Downi sündroom Eestis”). Töö juhendajad olid professor Tiina Talvik, dots Katrin Õunap TÜ lastekliinikust ja Mari Sitska TÜ Kliinikumist.

4. juunil 2007 kaitses Tartu Ülikooli arstiteaduskonna nõukogu ees doktoriväitekirja Eve Õiglane-Šlik teemal “Angelman and PraderWilli syndromes in Estonia“ (Angelmani ja Praderi-Willi sündroom Eestis). Töö valmis TÜ lastekliinikus professor Tiina Talviku ja
dotsent Katrin Õunapi juhendamisel. Oponendiks oli kliinilise geneetika professor Constance Schrander-Stumpel Maastrichti Ülikoolist.

Chris Pruunsild (neiuna Zilmer) kaitses 28.05.2007 edukalt doktoriväitekirja teemal “Juveniilne idiopaatiline artriit (JIA) Eesti lastel” (“Juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children in Estonia“). Töö juhendajad olid emeriitprofessor Tiina Talvik TÜ lastekliinikust ja dots Pirkko Pelkonen Helsingi Ülikoolist. Tööd oponeeris dotsent Pekka Lahdenne, Helsingi Ülikooli lastereumatoloog.

Meditsiinidoktor Tiina Stelmach
3. märtsil 2006 kaitses TÜ arstiteaduskonna nõukogu ees meditsiinidoktori väitekirja Tiina Stelmach. Väitekirja teema oli „Epidemiology of cerebral palsy and unfavourable neurodevelopmental outcome based on child population of Tartu city and county, in Estonia: prevalence, clinical features and risk factors“ („Laste tserebraalparalüüsi ja ebasoodsa arengutulemuse epidemioloogia Eestis Tartu linna ja maakonna näitel: levimus, kliinilised vormid ja riskitegurid“). Töö juhendaja oli prof Tiina Talvik, oponent prof Matti Iivanainen Helsingi Ülikoolist.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
