We arrive to the conclusion that, as in the case of unital C⁎-algebras, U0(M)=M1−1∩U(M)={Ue⋯Ue(1):n∈N,hj∈Msa∀1≤j≤n}={u∈U(M): there exists w∈U0(M) with ‖u−w‖<2} is analytically arcwise connected. Actually, U0(M) is the smallest quadratic subset of U(M) containing the set eiM. Our second goal is to provide a complete description of the surjective isometries between the principal components of two unital JB⁎-algebras M and N. Contrary to the case of unital C⁎-algebras, we shall deduce the existence of connected components in U(M) which are not isometric as metric spaces. We shall also establish necessary and sufficient conditions to guarantee that a surjective isometry Δ:U(M)→U(N) admits an extension to a surjective linear isometry between M and N, a conclusion which is not always true. Among the consequences it is proved that M and N are Jordan ⁎-isomorphic if, and only if, their principal components are isometric as metric spaces if, and only if, there exists a surjective isometry Δ:U(M)→U(N) mapping the unit of M to an element in U0(N). These results provide an extension to the setting of unital JB⁎-algebras of the results obtained by O.     Flexible time–space network formulation and hybrid metaheuristic for conflict-free and energy-efficient path planning of automated guided vehicles

    Operations of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are desired to be more energy-efficient while maintaining high transport productivity, motivated by the green production requirements. This paper investigates a new energy-efficient planning problem for determining conflict-free paths of the AGVs in its transport roadmap. In this problem, the vehicle path and transport time in the roadmap are jointly optimized, based on a flexible time–space network (FTSN). We provide the mathematical problem formulation of the energy-efficient path planning problem. The resulting optimization problem is proved to be a non-convex mixed-integer nonlinear programming which is computationally intractable. We further propose a hybrid metaheuristic that integrates the genetic algorithm and estimation of the distribution algorithm to improve its computational efficiency. Numerical results show the effectiveness of the developed algorithm based on the FTSN framework, compared to the existing metaheuristics, the conventional path planning method, and a commercial solver.     Genome-wide screening for DNA variants associated with reading and language traits.

    Reading and language abilities are heritable traits that are likely to share some genetic influences with each other. To identify pleiotropic genetic variants affecting these traits, we first performed a genome-wide association scan (GWAS) meta-analysis using three richly characterized datasets comprising individuals with histories of reading or language problems, and their siblings. GWAS was performed in a total of 1862 participants using the first principal component computed from several quantitative measures of reading- and language-related abilities, both before and after adjustment for performance IQ. We identified novel suggestive associations at the SNPs rs59197085 and rs5995177 (uncorrected P ≈ 10(-7) for each SNP), located respectively at the CCDC136/FLNC and RBFOX2 genes. Each of these SNPs then showed evidence for effects across multiple reading and language traits in univariate association testing against the individual traits. FLNC encodes a structural protein involved in cytoskeleton remodelling, while RBFOX2 is an important regulator of alternative splicing in neurons. The CCDC136/FLNC locus showed association with a comparable reading/language measure in an independent sample of 6434 participants from the general population, although involving distinct alleles of the associated SNP. Our datasets will form an important part of on-going international efforts to identify genes contributing to reading and language skills

    Vertical transmission of biosynthetic plasmids in aphid endosymbionts (Buchnera)

Phylogenetic congruence of Buchnera plasmid (trpEG and leuABC) and chromosomal (dnaN and trpB) genes supports strictly vertical long-term transmission of plasmids, which persist due to their contributions to host nutrition rather than capacity for infectious transfer.     Automatic extension of Gene Ontology with flexible identification of candidate terms

It continues to evolve with new concepts that are compiled mostly from existing concepts in a compositional way. If we consider the relatively slow growth rate of GO in the face of the fast accumulation of the biological data, it is much desirable to provide an automatic means for predicting new concepts from the existing ones. Results: We present a novel method that predicts more detailed concepts by utilizing syntactic relations among the existing concepts. We propose a validation measure for the automatically predicted concepts by matching the concepts to biomedical articles. We also suggest how to find a suitable direction for the extension of a constantly growing ontology such as GO.This work was supported by MOST/KOSEF through AITrc

    O grito de Jesus na Cruz : uma releitura intertextual com Jb 3

    The reality of human suffering, especially innocent, impels me to seek in time sense that the man was giving him throughout history. Sacred Scripture, being the Work of God's meeting with man in history is full of these realities, which solution always depended on the various factors of the concrete situations of the people. One of the most eloquent examples is the one we find in Jb 3,1 - 26, in which the author opens his mouth exposing the miserable situation that surrounds it, he who was faithful to God. Job’s "why" moves all human existence, which leaves the impression that the words of Job, innocent, foreshadowed the supreme interjection of Jesus on the Cross, Eloi, Eloi, Lema sabacthani ?, which means: My God my God, why have you forsaken me "(Mk 15,36; Mt 27,46)?. These and others are the main reasons that led us to choose as a title for this Dissertation " “O grito de Jesus na cruz: Proposta de uma releitura intertextual com Jb 3”. The work is divided into three chapters, preceded by an introduction that describes the method of intertextuality, which predominates in this dissertation.A realidade do sofrimento humano, sobretudo inocente, impele-me a buscar no tempo o sentido que o homem lhe foi dando ao logo da história. A Sagrada Escritura, sendo a obra do encontro de Deus com o homem na História, está cheia destas realidades, cuja solução dependeu sempre dos vários factores das situações concretas do povo. Um dos exemplos mais eloquente é aquele que encontramos em Jb 3,1-26, em que o autor abre a boca expondo a situação miserável que o envolve, ele que era fiel a Deus. O “porquê” de Job move toda a existência humana, o que deixa a sensação de que nas palavras de Job, inocente, esteja prefigurada a interjeição suprema de Jesus na Cruz : Eloí, Eloí, lemá sabachtáni?, que quer dizer: Meu Deus, meu Deus, porque me abandonaste?» (Mc 15,36; Mt 27,46). Estas e outras são as razões que nos levaram a intitular esta Dissertação por “O grito de Jesus na cruz: Proposta de uma releitura intertextual com Jb 3. O trabalho está dividido em três capítulos, precedidos por uma longa introdução que relata o método da intertextualidade, que predomina nesta dissertação.
