The symbols in the poetry of ruben dario
In this thesis we explore definitions of symbols and the life of the author in the book of Ruben Dario. Dario is an author who emphasized the importance of the use of symbols though out his books. Therefore we might consider him as a master specialized in writing with symbols.
We divide the thesis into three chapters. In the first chapter, we give details to the definition of the symbols. According to scholars like Urban, Frye, Todorov and Cirlot, we are able to understand symbols in forms of signs, images and words. The concept of the symbols is relatively comprehensive, taking into consideration that a symbol is not always a sign; in fact, it is much more than a sign.
In the second chapter, we describe Ruben Dario about his life, literary works and the times when he lived. His life was interesting, colorful and varied. He was not only a poet but a public figure, having been an ambassador of Nicaragua in Spain. Dario wrote many pieces and each was important to him. Based on his narration, there are three books that can represent Ruben Dario, Azul, Prosas profanas and Cantos de vida y esperanza.
Dario was the master of Modernism, mainly because of the great influence of Latin America. Not only did Ruben Dario influence the poets of Modernism but was influenced by other poets in the same period.
In the last chapter we examine the symbols in the poetry of Dario and we divided the symbols into three parts: the colors, birds and precious stones. The first part, we examine the colors. There are blue, green, and black. In the second part, we deal with the symbols of birds, including swans, pigeons, peacocks and eagles. And in the last part, we talk about precious stones. We analyze the symbols of agate, ruby, diamond, crystal and gold. Finally, we end up with the conclusions and bibliography.INTRODUCCION 1

Gen Z’s Fitness Concepts and Ways to be Fit: Insights to Strengthen Students’ Learning Experiences in Tertiary Physical Education
Being dubbed as digital natives born and raised in the highly industrial era, generation z students
differ from previous generations. A recent study revealed an increasing number of dropped-out
students in physical education classes in one of the leading State Universities in the Philippines.
Several reasons have been revealed, and one of those is the current tertiary physical education
curriculum content. Hence, this study aimed to determine the fitness concepts and ways to stay fit of
generation Z students and utilize in enhancing the curriculum content and improve the students’
learning experiences in tertiary physical education. Using the descriptive phenomenology research
design, 95 research participants took part in focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and
unobtrusive participant observations. The findings of this inquiry indicated three (3) reasons why
generation Z students still perceive physical education as an essential course in schools (gadget
addiction; early childhood diseases; and stress release) and six (6) ways to stay healthy (exercise and
physical activities; balanced diet; enough sleep/rest; self-discipline; and use of technology to promote
fitness). The findings and conclusions served as critical components in strengthening the tertiary
physical education curriculum to tailor the learning experiences to generation Z students' concepts,
ways, and preferences

Slippage Effects of the Conservation Reserve Program: New Evidence from Satellite Imagery
The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is the largest land retirement program ever operated in the US. Since its inception in 1985, many researchers have studied the impacts of this program; however, only a few have analyzed how the CRP affects surrounding non–enrolled parcels. In this research I examine how the CRP may affect the conversion of non–cropped land to agriculture, a phenomenon referred to as “slippage” in the literature, and specifically addressed by Wu (2000) and Roberts and Bucholtz (2005). Building on these earlier studies, I empirically model slippage using data derived from satellite imagery that provides information on land cover changes between 1992 and 2001. The study area consists of 1,053 counties located in the Northern Plains, Corn Belt and Lake States regions. Results support the existence of slippage effects from the CRP, but they are more conservative than the ones found by Wu (2000). The evidence of slippage provided here is important information for planners, given that whether and how the CRP affects land use decisions in surrounding areas is key information for implementing conservation efforts more efficiently.CRP, Land use change, Satellite imagery, Slippage effect, Agricultural and Food Policy, Land Economics/Use, Q15, Q24,
Investigating the Local Culture and Characteristics of Gen Zs in Rural Communities: Insights in Improving Students’ Physical Education Experience
This study explored the local characteristics of Generation Z students in rural communities as insights to enhance the implementation of the Philippine PATH-Fit program and improve students’ educational experiences. Employing a qualitative-ethno-graphic approach, insights were collected from 20 carefully selected participants through open-ended questions validated by experts. The findings identified seven key characteristics: competitiveness; pressure from external expectations; a tendency to overthink and experience emotional and depressive states; adaptability and cooperation; organizational skills and perfectionism; body consciousness; and a strong sense of social awareness, openness, and risk-taking. The study concludes that these students exhibit unique strengths and challenges. Their competitive nature and high standards are often accompanied by significant stress and self-imposed pressure. While their adaptability and teamwork skills help them navigate changing environments, their emotional sensitivity and focus on body image can affect their mental health. Their proactive approach to societal issues and openness to new experiences make them dynamic and complex individuals. These findings underscore the importance of addressing Generation Z students’ strengths and vulnerabilities to better support their overall well-being and success within the PATH-Fit program
An Ethnographic Probe on the Cultural Values and Symbols of Generation Z Students: Implications for Course Contextualization
This research aimed to look into the cultural values and symbols of Generation Z Students as implications for contextualizing Physical Education courses in one of the leading State Universities in the Philippines to make learning more engaging and responsive to the needs and interests of students. This research employed a qualitative ethnographic research design with 205 research participants who participated in focus group discussions, extensive field observations, in-depth interviews, and field notes. The findings revealed seven (7) cultural values, namely: bonding, relaxing, able to share, knowing how to get along, updated with trends, being aware of surroundings, and open-mindedness; and three (3) symbols: gadget, online games, and social media were identified as essential implications in the contextualization of Physical Education course. This resulted in the conceptualization of a contextualized course syllabus in Tertiary Physical Education as a potential reference in the effective delivery of instruction.
‘By consultation of elevated minds’: the role of paratexts in Giovanni Battista Calderari's comedies
Genette's Seuils considers the dramatic paratext as the odd one out, and, indeed, the early-modern theatrical paratext has remained understudied. This article discusses the paratexts of the comedies of Giovanni Battista Calderari, a sixteenth-century author quite neglected by scholars, whose works were published in Vicenza and Venice. By focusing on the paratexts of La Mora (The Moorish Woman, 1588), La schiava (The Slave Woman, 1589), and Armida (1600), the article stresses Calderari's attempts to clarify his poetic ideas and his endeavours to create a network of intellectuals and obtain their opinions about his work. These interlocutors belonged to the knights of Malta and the Vicenzan Accademia Olimpica, two circles to which Calderari himself belonged, but they also were authoritative Venetian intellectuals. His insertion of poems and letters that praise his person and work, reveals his attempt to promote himself and his writings. He tries to promote himself not only as a military man or a great Vicenzan poet, but as a scholar of theatre who is able to juggle poetic discourse and is worthy to be considered by intellectuals, though he ultimately seems to have failed to really assert himself on the Venetian cultural scene and the Vicenzan stage
Key Success Factors for Startups in the Airline Industry
The airline industry has experienced enormous growth over the past decades, providing the opportunity to travel and explore new countries to more people than ever before. The enormous growth and serious drop in prices has created an ecosystem of very large airline groups and increasing consolidations of companies forced by very low profit margins. The airline environment can be conservative and innovation processes can be relatively slow, therefore startups can be an interesting and valuable sources of innovation for the airline industry. The survival rate of startups in general is very low and sources indicate that the airline industry is even more challenging for startups. Therefore, the objective of this research is to investigate the key success factors for startups in the airline industry and identify a strategy to exploit the key success factor successfully. The final objective of this research is to gain a better understanding of the success factors and find a strategy for startups to successfully exploit the key success factor. This should lead to an increased survival rates for startups in the airline industry and more efficient innovation. The results can than be used by multiple stakeholders such as airlines, incubators, startups and investors to better tailor their strategies and policies.Management of Technology (MoT

This dissertation investigates events related to Brazil#s 500 years celebrations, which happened in 2000: Porto Seguro party, Brazil Rediscovery Exhibition and one of its modules, #Black in body and Soul# Exposition. The analysis involves the interface among art, politics and power, specifically articulated in the celebration context. It is based on narrative re-construction, considering the inclusion and exclusion of several discursive genres (visual, textual and sonorous), about the acting and interaction between different instances in the events: State, Press, Intellectuals and Public
Autonomy of technique and determinism in La technique ou l\'enjeu du siècle, by Jacques Ellul
Trata-se de perceber como, evidentemente, a sociedade mesma valoriza o fenômeno técnico, mas também como os próprios efeitos do fenômeno técnico na sociedade e no ambiente comprometem as condições para a implementação de operações técnicas alternativasThis master\'s thesis analyzes Jacques Ellul\'s philosophy of technique from the first and best-known book in his trilogy on the philosophy of technique, La technique ou l\'enjeu du siècle, from 1954. At the heart of his argument is the idea that, from the mid-18th century onwards, technical operations are selected based on the search for maximum efficiency, i.e. as a result of a calculation made by technicians, of the input-output type, preferably quantified, which identifies the chosen means that produces the highest ratio between input and output. Starting with the introduction of machines into production and the rationalization of the state, the criterion of maximum efficiency progressively affects all fields of human activity. As a result of this widespread application, technical operations based on the calculation of maximum efficiency come to form a whole with its own characteristics - the technical phenomenon - which, in turn, profoundly modifies all aspects of society and the very position of individuals in society. For the author, the technical phenomenon is autonomous, i.e. it imposes itself on society and individuals to the extent that, on the one hand, the realization of economic and political interests becomes dependent on technical progress and, on the other hand, individuals themselves come to value technical progress as an end in itself. The autonomy of the technical phenomenon then leads to determinism, since it transforms and tends to subordinate all fields of human activity. In view of the discussion in the secondary literature about the type of determinism that follows from the analysis developed by Ellul, it is argued that it is a determinism with a fatalistic tendency, either because, for the author, the technical phenomenon acquires an autonomy that seems irreversible - due to its self-growth, i.e. constant and growing technical progress, and the uniqueness of its effects, namely, the indivisibility, in technical operations, between the desired effects and the foreseen and unforeseeable harmful secondary effects of technical operations, which require new technical operations to solve them - or because, in the author\'s view in 1954, there is no expectation that individuals and institutions will stop promoting the technical phenomenon. In this way, Ellul\'s work acquires relevance in the contemporary debate on the philosophy of technique, given its emphasis on how technical progress diminishes individuals\' ability to decide on the direction of techniques and society. It is a question of understanding how, of course, society itself values the technical phenomenon, but also how the very effects of the technical phenomenon on society and the environment undermine the conditions for implementing alternative technical operation
