Violence and political culture in interwar Germany, Bernd Weisbrod. The entire German political culture has since 1918 integrated the acceptation of violence. The author follows the fatal consequences of this failing in the Weimar period, through the action of the Freikorps (Corps francs), then under the Third Reich. The banalization of evil in Germany (H. Arendt) was also a characteristic of the political culture.Weisbrod Bernd. No full text
Referring to Habermas' »structural transformation of the public sphere«, written in 1962, the author describes the characteristics of »public sphere« and deals with the current function and challenges of religious education. Religious education is understood as both the practice of teaching religion and a theory in the framework of theology and is meant to be of public interest from the public's viewpoint as well as from a religious view of the world

Firstly, the author explores the terminological field covering the outcome of educational counselling and develops beneficial dimensions, which are visualised as a network. The author stimulates the German discussion with methodological topics and research results originating in British evaluations. Scientific studies used to confirm the positive effects of educational counselling. Finally the report suggests an agenda for researching the benefits in the field of counselling in continuing education.

In his concise monograph, Bernd Fabritius examines the relationships of female and male fairy tale characters from a gender pedagogical and a sociological perspective. Using several versions of the Little Red Riding Hood motif, he analyzes how these reflect actual gender relations and gender roles and he also investigates the educational function of the fairy tales. Afterwards, the author asks what a valuable pedagogical use of fairy tales should look like from a present-day perspective

    A Manifesto of Nodalism

This paper proposes the notion of Nodalism as a means describing contemporary culture and of understanding my own creative practice in electronic music composition. It draws on theories and ideas from Kirby, Bauman, Bourriaud, Deleuze, Guatarri, and Gochenour, to demonstrate how networks of ideas or connectionist neural models of cognitive behaviour can be used to contextualize, understand and become a creative tool for the creation of contemporary electronic music

Non-denominationalism appears as a complex and ambiguous phenomenon. The article offers criteria and develops typological structures in order to characterize the construction of membership and renouncing membership in different world religions (section 1) and to describe religious educational approaches to non-denominationals in different European countries (section 2). Exemplifying this survey there are some details given on dealing with pupils without religious commitment in England and modern Israel (section 3). Summarizing these observations the author marks one major challenge for RE, that is both to respect non-denominationalism and to drag non-denominationals and denominationals into struggling for a suitable interpretation of reality

Adult education as an experience-oriented process

    No full text
(DIPF/Orig.)The author demonstrates that the present debate on practical strategies and theoretical concepts of adult education has shifted its focus: it is now on orienting educational processes primarily to the addressees’ experiences and thus relativizing scientific interpretations of Professional and private problems. The author points out the danger of letting experience-oriented adult education turn into an education without subjects or goals. He reconstructs the basic principles of Socratic discourse and argues that the successful education of adults relies on the tension between experience and concept (as scientific insight). Bernd Dewe finds it necessary to redefine the concept of education in Order to formulate theories in adult pedagogy
