No full textPortrait of Ellen G. White sitting down in a chair holding a piece of paper. White was an American author and co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with other Adventist leaders such as Joseph Bates and her husband James White, she was instrumental within a small group of early Adventists who formed what became known as the Seventh-day Adventist Church. White is considered a leading figure in American vegetarian history. During her lifetime she wrote more than 5,000 periodical articles and 40 books. As of 2019 more than 200 White titles are available in English, including compilations from her 100,000 pages of manuscript published by the Ellen G. White Estate, which are accessible worldwide. Her most notable books are "Steps to Christ," "The Desire of Ages" and "The Great Controversy.

Get PDFProphetess, preacher, missionary, mother, and author of over one hundred original and compiled books, Ellen G. White filled her life of 87 years with selfless service to the God and Gospel she so dearly loved. While her wide travels took her not only across the United States but also through the European countries and Australia, she nevertheless found time to raise three sons together with her husband, best friend, and partner in the work of God, James White. The revelations she received in vision and related to the young Seventh-day Adventist church, together with the divinely inspired counsel she provided, covered a wide range of subjects including health, ministry, education, church administration, and, of course, Biblical themes such as the Great Controversy and the plan of salvation. In her lifetime she was an invaluable pillar of the Seventh-day Adventist movement and early leadership, and her influence is still felt in the heart and life of the church today.
Harry Ahn, an internationally recognized artist who has lent his talent to Andrews University as a contract teacher for the past 25 years, has once again put brush to canvas to produce a portrait of Ellen G. White in his signature oil paint style. A graduate of the MSH Studio School of Art, Ahn developed a passion for Biblical and religious themes in his art, which led him to become a portrait artist whose paintings exhibit a rare depth of humanity and the beauty of the soul, a quality acknowledged many times over by prestigious awards. Features of Formation of the National Income
Get PDFSignificant indicator of economic progress of the country is the specific income per capita. Experts consider such indicator important from the point of view of forecasting of economic development. Influence of various factors is presented in references, but influence of psychological indicators, in particular, influence of personal characteristics of the population isn't considered. On material of the population of various countries of the world features of formation of the national specific income per capita are considered. The assumption that a measure of professional qualities is linear superposition of level of competence, creative abilities and specific national wealth is made. For simplification of the analysis the sum of these indicators were used as a superposition prototype to a first approximation. It is established that the sum of competence-based indicators, factors of creative opportunities and an indicator of national wealth per capita forms a specialized indicator. It is revealed that this indicator is connected with specific GNP per capita on dependence with high coefficient of correlation. Dependence linearization increases this coefficient to 0.949. It is established that in process of the movement in a zone of the countries with more considerable development of economy, influence of this indicator increases as dependence in an initial look has square character.Keywords. Ellen White’s leadership principles relating to knowing God, authority, visioning, and human relations may still inspire compassionate action and a deepening commitment to Jesus Christ in today’s Christian leader

No full textEsta pesquisa tem como objetivo aprofundar a compreensão da Liberdade de consciência no pensamento de Ellen G White, focando especialmente nas reflexões contidas em uma de suas obras, O Grande Conflito. Para tanto esta pesquisa descreve o contexto social, histórico e religioso vivido pela autora apontando os principais fatores que influenciaram sua vida. Em seguida procura-se compreender qual a relação de seus escritos com a Bíblia, analisando sua hermenêutica. Na parte final há uma descrição do histórico da composição da obra, seguida de uma análise da mesma, buscando avaliar o impacto que suas reflexões trouxeram para o seu tempo e que ainda refletem em nossos dias. Embora Ellen G White não seja uma teórica de renome e considerando suas limitações e seu pouco preparo acadêmico suas reflexões produziram um ethos religioso na denominação da qual foi co-fundadora, os Adventistas do Sétimo Dia, que estimulou-os a serem bem atuantes na defesa desses princípios. Por meio dessa pesquisa constatou-se que essa continua atuação é fruto de uma visão que integra a temática da liberdade de consciência não apenas a uma dimensão histórica, mas também escatológicaThis research aims to deepen the understanding of freedom of conscience in the thinking of Ellen G. White, focusing especially on the reflections contained in one of his works, The Great Controversy. Therefore this research describes the social, historical and religious lived by the author pointing out the main factors that influenced his life. Then we seek to understand what the relationship of her writings to the Bible, analyzing its hermeneutics. In the final part there is a description of the history of the work's composition, followed by an analysis of it, seeking to assess the impact that your thoughts have brought their time and still reflect today. Although Ellen G. White is not a theoretical renowned and considering its limitations and its little academic training their reflections produced a religious ethos in the name of which he was co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventists, who encouraged them to be very active in the defense these principles. In this thesis, the author argues that the two women, obviously drawn together because of personal and professional similarities, shared intellectual interests, a passion for writing, and certainly nurtured each other\u27s creativity. By providing extensive evidence from Mary Johnston\u27s unpublished diaries, notebooks, and journals, as well evidence from the abundance of published and unpublished correspondence between the two women, this thesis refutes past critical assessments and establishes that the relationship between Glasgow and Johnston was indeed intellectual and significant rather than superficially social. This thesis makes the argument that Mary Johnston\u27s own life and ideas, as well as the life engendered in her fiction, affected the life and literary career of Ellen Glagow, much as Glasgow\u27s real and fictional lives influenced Johnston\u27s
