No full textIn this comparative study of the form and theology of Flannery O'Connor and Simone Weil I interrogate how Weil's philosophical writings and her theology illuminate O'Connor's use of both narrative and non-fictional forms, and her Catholicism. The Introduction analyses how Weil's concept of superposed reading provides a new method of approaching both O'Connor, her writings, and O'Connor
studies, and focuses on how such apparently different women interconnect. Chapter One explores how both Weil and O'Connor attempt to write their theologies on the
souls of their readers yet are each subject to constraints imposed by form. Weil's concept of locating equilibrium between incommensurates is discussed, and her
distinctively philosophical approach to fictions and fictionality is used to investigate O'Connor's notion of prophetic fictions and the writer's role. Chapter Two assesses how both writers revivify Christian paradoxes. Weil's monstrous concept of affiiction, and O'Connor's use of the grotesque genre to jolt secular man into an
awareness of the sacred are scrutinised. Chapter Three studies how both writers consider an encounter between God and man is possible through the action of grace. My Conclusion interrogates how Weil's work can deepen our understanding of O'Connor's writings, and examines how successful O'Connor is at realising a truly
Christian literature. I conclude that despite being a writer of powerful fictions, O'Connor can not be totally successful in her mission as writer-prophet because

No full textThe recently enacted reform of German federalism is supposed to make legislation faster, more efficient and better. To what extent are these expectations justified? In order to assess the likely effects of the reform, this study uses a research design that was recently applied by the Research and Reference Services of the German Bundestag (parliament): we estimate the future effects of the reform by analyzing the impact it would have had on the legislation in the 14th and 15th term of the Bundestag if it had already been been in force at that time. In particular we ask: To what extent would the number of laws requiring the consent of the states' chamber, the Bundesrat, have been reduced? Which type of laws would have been affected by this reduction - the more controversial ones, or the less controversial ones? Which policy sectors would have seen the greatest reduction? How much would the reduction have increased the government's capacity to act effectively? Would the legislative process have been accelerated? -- Die verabschiedete Föderalismusreform soll die Gesetzgebung in Deutschland schneller, effizienter und besser machen. Inwiefern sind diese Erwartungen berechtigt? Zur Abschätzung der Reformfolgen auf die Bundesgesetzgebung folgen wir in dem vorliegenden Working Paper einer Vorgehensweise, die der Wissenschaftliche Dienst des Bundestages kürzlich in einer Studie angewandt hat: Die Auswirkungen der Föderalismusreform insbesondere auf die Zustimmungspflicht werden anhand der Gesetzgebung der 14. und 15. Legislaturperiode untersucht. Wir fragen insbesondere: Wie stark hätte sich der Anteil der Zustimmungsgesetze verringert, wenn die neuen Zustimmungsregeln schon in diesen beiden Legislaturperioden gegolten hätten? No full textO mercado internacional se mostra uma alternativa vantajosa para expansão comercial para pequenas empresas. A Tonello Artefatos de Couro atua no mercado interno há 20 anos, evidenciando interesse para incorporar-se ao comércio internacional por meio de exportações dos artigos de couro. Para tal, utilizam-se conceitos de internacionalização de empresas, processos iniciais de exportações e estratégias de marketing. Averiguou-se com a pesquisa de mercado que o Uruguai é o país ideal para o início dos trabalhos de exportação. Esta pesquisa constituiu-se em uma investigação qualitativa de nível exploratório, utilizando métodos de estudo de caso e pesquisa-ação, a fim de aprimorar os setores da empresa e prepará-la para o comércio internacional. Para entender os processos da internacionalização realizou-se entrevistas, contatos com o proprietário da companhia e demais profissionais das áreas envolvidas. Identificou-se através dos dados coletados e de pequenos investimentos realizados que é viável internacionalizar a empresa. The company Tonello Artefatos de Couro has been operating in the domestic market for 20 years, and there is an opportunity to join international trade through exports of leather items. For this purpose, the concepts of company internationalization, initial export processes and marketing strategies are used. It was found through a market research that Uruguay is the ideal country to start exporting. This research consisted of a qualitative exploratory investigation, using case study and action research methods, in order to improve the company's sectors and prepare it for international trade. In order to understand the internationalization processes, the company's manager and other professionals in the areas involved were identified and contacted. Jugular veins in transient global amnesia: innocent bystanders.
No full textBackground and Purpose—Transient global amnesia (TGA) has been associated with an increased prevalence of internal
jugular valve insufficiency and many patients report Valsalva-associated maneuvers before TGA onset. These findings
have led to the assumption of hemodynamic alterations in intracranial veins inducing focal hippocampal ischemia. We
investigated this hypothesis in patients with TGA and control subjects.
Methods—Seventy-five patients with TGA and 75 age- and sex-matched healthy subjects were enrolled into a
cross-sectional study. Extracranial and transcranial high-resolution venous echo-color-Doppler sonography was
performed blindly in all patients and control subjects. Blood flow direction and velocities were recorded at the internal
jugular veins, basal veins of Rosenthal, and vein of Galen, both at rest and during Valsalva-associated maneuvers.
Results—Mean age of patients with TGA was 60.38.0 years (median, 60 years; range, 44–78 years); 44 (59%) were
female (female/male ratio: 1.42). Internal jugular valve insufficiency (left, right, or bilateral) was found to be more
frequent in patients with TGA than in control subjects: 53 (70.7%) versus 22 (29.3%; P0.05). Blood flow velocities
in the deep cerebral veins of patients with TGA did not differ from control subjects both at rest and during
Valsalva-associated maneuvers. Intracranial venous reflux was neither observed in patients with TGA nor in control
subjects despite unilateral or bilateral internal jugular valve insufficiency during prolonged and maximal Valsalvaassociated
maneuvers.
Conclusions—This study, although confirming the association between TGA and internal jugular valve insufficiency,
challenges the hypothesis that cerebral venous congestion plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of TGA

No full textObjectives Medication errors are frequent and affect patient safety in all the world. This review using the GRADE approach aims to identify the educational intervention which improves nursing medication competences and knowledge.Methods According to PRISMA statement, a review was conducted.Key findings In this review of nine studies, we determined that there is a lot of educational intervention aimed to improve nursing knowledge, such as traditional classroom training, simulation, e-learning, slide show presentations and the use of posters and pamphlets or mobile application. All of these can improve the medication process and nursing skills. Only three studies reached moderate, and two studies reached low-quality ratings.Conclusions Our findings show that all educational interventions can lead to medication without harm.This work will inform regulators, public health initiatives and policy makers considering the nursing educational intervention for increasing patient safety and improve medication competence and knowledge

Jako klucz do interpretacji i zrozumienia ofiary Weil, autorka analizuje myśl Emmanuela Levinasa oraz Józefa Tischnera.The author interprets the sacrifice that Simone Weil filed with itself. The main point of the present article is the assumption that the sacrifice Simone Weil was the most important idea of her life. A thought about the victim is portraying the article in the life and letters of the intellectual, as well as is portraying analogies which are shedding new light on the Weil victim.
