La creazione del Conservatorio di Palermo tra Sei e Settecento
No full textQuesto contributo ripercorre alcune delle tappe più significative della vita del conservatorio di Palermo tra Sei e Settecento a partire da due momenti fondativi: il primo è la creazione dell'istituzione nel 1617 col nome di “Conservatorio dei dispersi”; il secondo la trasformazione in conservatorio di musica vero e proprio nel 1747, sotto il titolo del “Buon Pastore”. In particolare verranno tratteggiate le figure dei due viceré responsabili di questi eventi, Francisco Ruiz conte di Castro e Bartolomeo Corsini. Inoltre si esaminerano i "capitoli" (regolamenti) emanati tra Sei e Settecento con particolare riferimento alle notizie sull'attività musicale.This essay traces some of the most significant stages in the life of the conservatory in Palermo between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, starting with two founding moments: the first is its birth under the name of "Conservatorio dei dispersi" in 1617; the second is its transformation into a proper music school called "Buon Pastore. in 1747" In particular, the figures of the two viceroys responsible for these events, Francisco Ruiz Count of Castro and Bartolomeo Corsini, will be discussed. No full textOn August 12, 1845, Alzira, Giuseppe Verdi’s eighth opera, made its debut at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Against the composer’s own expecta-tions, the opera—to a libretto by Salvadore Cammarano based on Vol-taire—proved a failure, getting only about 20 performances. Even subse-quent stagings (13 between 1845 and 1858) met with lukewarm reception. A year after the first performance, on August 17, 1846, Calisto Bassi, an experienced librettist and translator, sent some comments on the libretto and proposals for improvements to the publisher Tito Ricordi. In this con-tribution, I aim to discuss this hitherto unpublished letter as well as to re-flect on the dramaturgy of this opera and the reasons for its failure

No full textCon allarmante preoccupazione assistiamo, oggi, ad una deresponsabilizzazione della classe politica e al declino della cittadinanza partecipata. Fenomeni che travolgono i sistemi democratici attuali precipitandoli in una profonda crisi. La ricerca pedagogica e l’istituzione scuola sono chiamate a stabilire un rinnovato rapporto attivo e sinergico con la politica, nel comune intento di contribuire, ciascuno per il proprio ambito di intervento, alla formazione di un uomo che sappia vivere la propria soggettività in rapporto con l’alterità per contribuire in modo attivo, critico e costruttivo al bene collettivo.
Il fine primario della formazione si estrinseca solo nel momento in cui partecipa alla costruzione di “volontà” libere, capaci di incidere nel mondo con pensiero critico e azione consapevole, di promuovere responsabilmente processi concreti di cambiamento attraverso un processo attivo di decodificazione e riedificazione della cultura. La responsabilità civica, fondamento di un’attiva partecipazione sociale, costituisce la base su cui si reggono i sistemi democratici. La scuola, luogo privilegiato della formazione, ha l’onere di realizzare interventi mirati di educazione alla e per la democrazia, mediante la costruzione di relazioni solide fondate su un’ampia e condivisa visione etica che alimentano la partecipazione attiva, condizione indispensabile per un reale esercizio della cittadinanza.
With alarming concern, we are witnessing today a de-responsibility of the political class and the decline of participatory citizenship. Events that upset current democratic systems, absorbing them into a profound crisis. Pedagogy and school, each for their own area of intervention, interacting synergistically with politics, have the duty to contribute with responsibility and competence to the training of a man who knows how to live his own subjectivity in relationship with others by actively participating in training of a fair society oriented towards the collective good. The primary purpose of training is expressed only when it participates in the formation of free 'wills', capable of impacting the world with critical thinking and conscious action, of responsibly promoting concrete processes of change through an active process of decoding and rebuilding culture. Civic responsibility, the foundation of active social participation, is the pillar on which democratic systems are based. The school, a privileged place for training, has the honor of carrying out targeted interventions of education for democracy, through the construction of solid relationships based on the broad and shared ethical vision that nourish active participation, an indispensable condition for a real exercise of citizenship

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
