Quantum theory is a revolutionary advancement in physics and chemistrythat emerged in the early twentieth century. It is an elegant mathematicaltheory able to explain the counterintuitive behavior of subatomic particles, most notably the phenomenon of entanglement. In the late twentiethcentury it was discovered that quantum theory applies not only toatoms and molecules, but to bits and logic operations in a computer. Thisrealization has brought about a revolution in the science and technologyof information processing, making possible kinds of computing and communicationhitherto unknown in the Information Age.A Teoria Quântica é um avanço revolucionário na Física que emergiuno início do século XX. For several decades the physicists, including brazilians, they have traditionally, it has beenconsidered that the father of theory of Big-Bang is the american- soviet physicist GeorgeGamow, whose studies and research provide essential contributions to the explanation ofthe origins of the universe and the consolidation of the Big Bang theory. But they has overlooked the achievements in Cosmology of the belgian priest and Georges Lemaître. In 1927he became the first to propose a theory of the expansion of the universe to explain the redshifts of galaxies, an advance that is often attributed to Edwin Hubble. Lemaître publishedthe original version of the Hubble Law, and he produced the first estimate of the Hubbleconstant. He proposed the theory of expansion of the Universe that became better knownas the Big Bang theory for the origin of the universe. Alexander Friedmann, Carl WilhelmWirtz, Vesto Slipher, Knut E. Lundmark, Willem de Sitter, Georges H. Lemaître, and EdwinHubble all contributed to the discovery of the expansion of the universe. If only two personsare to be ranked as the most important ones for the general acceptance of the expansion ofthe universe, the historical evidence points at Lemaître and Hubble, and the proper answerto the question, who discovered the expansion of the universe, is: Georges H. Lemaître. A scientist who is familiar with other physical theories in which the symbols one deals withare endowed with a direct experimental meaning must provide himself with great care andpatience in studying general relativity. At the logical beginning of the theory of relativitywe find instead only two elementary concepts: the idea of space-time coincidences (events)and the proper time; this is all there is in our equipment for the long journey to a completeunderstanding of gravitation. Every other physical quantity—distance, angle, energy, etc.—hasonly a secondary meaning and must be constructed, if possible, from the two fundamentalconcepts; hence, a full theory of measurements is needed. The principle of equivalencehas historically played an important role in the development of gravitation theory. Newtonregarded this principle as such a cornerstone of Mechanics that he devoted the openingparagraph of the Principia [ Newton, 2002] to it, stating in Definition I: this quantity that Imean hereafter everywhere under the name of... mass ... is known by the weight . for it is proportional tothe weight, as I have found by experiments on pendulums, very accurately made .... In 1907, Einsteinused the principle as a basic element of General Relativity. In 2014 This project proposed to a IC students team involving this classic experimentaltest of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity, known as the Galileo Experiment for thePrinciple of Weak Equivalence and had the purpose of determining the Eötvos coefficient, a relevant experimental parameter in determination of variations in the ratio between inertialmass and gravitational mass, a foundation not of Newtonian gravity or General Relativity, but of the broader idea that spacetime is curved.

All of the sciences physical, biological, and social have a need for quantitative measurement. The article seeks to establish the formal foundations for measurement, justifying the assignmentof numbers to objects in terms of their structural correspondence. The fundamentalidea is that measurements are not the same as the attribute being measured. The measurementshows that strong assumptions are required to provide meaningful information aboutreality and encourages people to think about the meaning of their data. It encourages criticalassessment of the assumptions behind the analysis. It encourages responsible real-worlddata analysis. Mathematical statistics is concerned with the connection between inferenceand data. The measurement concerned with the connection between data and reality and pointing to some aspects related to the process of algebrization” in order to approach itselaboration context in more detail.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
