Competitiveness of Indonesian Rice Prices in The International Market
More than 40 countries produce world rice, only six major exporting countries, namely India, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, Myanmar, and the United States. The availability of rice on the world market annually ranges from 39-42 million tons that 40% of it imported by Asian countries, and China imports 6 million tons per year. Retail rice prices in Japan are USD 5.20/kg, Saudi Arabia USD 2.30/kg, and in Africa around USD 1.0 / kg, higher than Indonesia. The price of medium rice offered in the world market ranges from USD 0.34 - USD 0.4 per kg, while the price of special rice is USD 1,000/ton or more. Indonesia has the opportunity to export Basmati and aromatic rice to Japan and Saudi Arabia, which purchased at high prices. This export opportunities driven by reciprocal bilateral trade. Rice export to African countries needs to be explore under bilateral trade agreements. Indonesia has chance to export rice if it is able to consistently achieve a production surplus of at least 2 million tons per year. At the stage of exports, the role of the government needed in the form of tax breaks, quality assurance certification and subsidies for the rice production process

Analysis of the Adoption Rate of Lowland Rice Technology in Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province
Farming technology will be successful if farmers adopt it correctly. The research aims to determine the level of farmers’ adoption of lowland rice farming technology. The research location was in Bolaang Mongondow Regency in October 2022, using a survey technique of 30 lowland rice farmers. Adoption data were analyzed descriptively and Spearman’s correlation statistic test. The results of the correlation test showed that there was a negative relationship between the adoption of technology components and age and education, but was positive for farming experience, land area, innovation characteristics. The information channel correlation is not significantly related at the level of α = 0.05 with the technology component adopted, this means that there are many information channels that can be utilized but farmers do not directly apply the technology obtained. Meanwhile, the adoption of lowland rice technology components, namely harvest handling - post-harvest, was 96.67%, the use of NSV and intermittent irrigation was 90% each, and other technological components were below 80%. The government has an important role in introducing technological innovations by adjusting the level of needs and whereabouts of farmers to technological components so that they can be adopted for the expected increase in productivity
DAMPAK EKONOMI DAN KEBERLANJUTAN PENERAPAN PENGELOLAAN KELAPA TERPADU DI KABUPATEN MINAHASA UTARA
ABSTRAKAkselerasi adopsi teknologi pengelolaan kelapa terpadu merupakankegiatan yang dilakukan untuk mempercepat diseminasi teknologi danmengevaluasi model yang telah dikembangkan oleh Balitka di DesaKaleosan, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara pada tahun 2004-2006.Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode survei dan dilaksanakan padabulan November 2006. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi karakteristikpetani, tingkat penerapan teknologi, serta usahatani. Penelitian inibertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi (1) tingkat adopsi dan difusiteknologi anjuran, (2) dampak teknologi terhadap pendapatan petani, dan(3) keberlanjutan organisasi kelompok tani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa tingkat adopsi dan difusi teknologi pembibitan kelapa dan tanamansela jagung direspon cukup baik, dengan kisaran tingkat adopsi dan difusiteknologi sebesar 57,33-70,33. Kegiatan integrasi kelapa dengan ternakbabi serta pengolahan VCO tidak terjadi proses difusi, walaupun tingkatadopsi pada kelompok tani cukup tinggi dengan kisaran 60,00 – 85,33.Dampak ekonomi dari penerapan teknologi anjuran tanaman sela danpengaruhnya terhadap produktivitas kelapa menunjukkan dampak yangpositif, dengan nilai kelayakan finansial BCR dan MBCR >1. Dampakkeberlanjutan organisasi kedua kelompok tani berada pada kelompokberkembang.Kata kunci : Kelapa, sistem usahatani, adopsi teknologi, percepatanABSTRACTAcceleration of management technology adoption ofintegrated coconut in North Minahasa regionIntegrated coconut management technology is a disseminationmodel to accelerate technology adoption in Kaleosan Village, NorthMinahasa in year 2004 – 2006. The research used survey method and wasconducted in November 2006. The data collected included farmers’characteristic, level of technology implementation, and farming systemanalysis. The purpose of this research was to gather information about (1)adoption and diffusion level of recommended technology, (2) impact oftechnology toward farmers’ income, (3) and the continuation of farmers’organization. The research result showed that the adoption stage ofcoconut seedling technology and corn intercropping was responded fairlywith the adoption stage and technologi diffusion of 57.33 – 70.33. Thediffusion process did not happen in the activity of coconut integration withpig cattle and VCO processing, eventhough the adoption stage of farmersgroup was relatively high, about 60.00 – 85.33. Economic impact ofrecommended intercropping technology application and the effect oncoconut productivity showed a positive result, with the BCR and MBCRvalues of > 1.
