Identidade. Alteridade. This dissertation interprets the poetic work of Virgílio de Lemos and his heteronyms, considering the more representative cycles of the Mozambican author, mainly what was produced between 1944-1963. The transits and diasporas are considered essential for the development of his poetical exercise as well as the production of the three main heteronyms of Virgílio de Lemos Duarte Galvão, Lee-Li Yang and Bruno dos Reis. The unfolding in heteronyms is symptomatic and confers the radicalization of the poets persona. Other transits by Virgilio de Lemos and his heteronyms are also considered here, such as the option for the Baroque Aesthetic, the importance of Symbolism and Impressionism, the influence of the European Avant Guards, especially Surrealism, Cubism and Dadaism; the Latin American Modern Movements and his Concrete Poetry production. These transits reveal how subversive and innovative the poets lyric is mainly when compared to the predominant literary model in Mozambique, such aesthetical variations indicate an intense resistance to colonialist repression. Organizational ecology: No Darwinian evolution after all. A Rejoinder to Lemos
In a recent article we argued that organizational ecology is not a Darwinian research program. John Lemos criticized our argumentation on various counts. Here we reply to some of Lemos's criticisms. © The Author(s) 2010
Transductions: a global experiment in digital curation
The ebook “Transductions” portraits the Renata Lemos Morais experience as a curator, which she describes as a journey of aesthetic serendipity. It is the textual offspring of Transductions #18, a pop-up exhibition that made part of the Pause Festival of Digital Culture in Melbourne, in 2015.
Through the fortuitous and elusive encounters of digital curation, Renata Lemos Morais has been exploring the refracted images of her own personal sense of aesthetics mirrored in the expansive lens of the digital mesh. Transductions#18 was conceptualised out of the creative urge to manifest this process within a physical space.
According to the author, “the exhibition was about living the questions not only in the now, but also about enacting a living experiment with some of the most important questions of our now, by tapping into the continuous mesh of virtuality and physicality which is interspersed in the chaos and complexity of contemporary life”

Seta-like structure length (µm) 186 (140–250) left and 205 (114–275) right in males, 194 (75–250, n = 7) left and 160 (76.5–310, n = 7) right in females. Remarks. The specimens of D. carvalhoi that we observed had a pyriform carapace, which was wider than it was long, and, more frequently, covered all the legs in both males and females. There are no spines on the ventral surface of the carapace of this species (Lemos de Castro 1949) and the testis are bilobate. The presence of these characteristics makes its morphological relationship with D. longicauda, D. geayi and D. nana Lemos de Castro, 1950 (Bouvier 1899; Heller 1857; Lemos de Castro 1950) narrower. In his description of D. nana, Lemos de Castro (1950) stated that there are two spines plus a lobe on the base of the second maxillae. The author also exhibited legs without flagella in his drawings. Nevertheless, specimens of D. carvalhoi, D. longicauda and D. geayi have three spines on the base of the second maxillae (Fig. 10D) and flagella in at least the first and second legs. Males and females of D. carvalhoi have flagella on the first three legs (Lemos de Castro 1949). This, distinguishes them from specimens of D. geayi, which have flagella on just the first two pairs of legs (Bouvier 1899; Ringuelet 1943). Lemos de Castro (1949) said that the second pairs of flagella of D. carvalhoi are the largest and the third pairs smaller. However, in his drawings, he showed the first pair of flagella as smaller. In the specimens examined in the present study, we saw that only males exhibited smaller flagella on the third legs, whereas in D. longicauda, both males and females exhibited smaller flagella on the third legs. The spines on the base of the second maxillae are similar in D. carvalhoi and D. longicauda. The morphology of the anal papillae of the female (Fig. 10B, 11F) is also similar for these two species. Furthermore, a seta-like structure on the hook of the second maxillae without spines is present in both species (Fig. 10C, 11E). Morphologically speaking, therefore, the color pattern (bluish or greenish in D. longicauda, brownish in D. carvalhoi); the flagella on the third legs of females; and especially the abdomen length (smaller in D. carvalhoi: 27% and 44%, of female and male total length, respectively; larger in D. longicauda: 64% of total length) are important characteristics for distinguishing D. carvalhoi from D. longicauda. Yet, there are four to six multi-digit scales on the mandibles of D. carvalhoi, many of which are present on the legs (Fig. 10A), while in D. longicauda there are no scales on any part of it body.Published as part of Tavares, Luiz E. Dalle, P. (Comp.) (2022).
Abstract Sebastian Lemos reviews the book compiled by Pablo Dalle: Social structure of Argentina in times of pandemic (Volumes I and II), which he defines as a challenging production of knowledge, not only due to the deepening of a topic that is not widely reported at the national level but also due to the multidimensionality represented by the research project from which it derives both in theoretical, methodological and interdisciplinary terms. The author gives an account of these aspects focusing on the approach of each volume, the main integral findings and the possible political responses to mitigate the effects of the double crisis described by the researchers
Strategic Environmental Assessment in higher education: Portuguese and Brazilian cases
Environmental Impact Assessment is well established in higher education worldwide, with a history going back to the 1970s. In contrast, the teaching and training of Strategic Environmental Assessment is a relatively novel, less consolidated and implanted, but of growing importance as a decision support tool in planning and policy. Therefore, training needs in this domain have grown accordingly, demanding new answers from higher education institutions. Despite the existence of relevant work on sustainability in higher education, and on impact assessment education, there is a dearth of research on education of environmental assessment approaches for strategic levels of decision making. The goal of this research paper is to characterize the profile of Strategic Environmental Assessment in higher education in two distinct situations; Portugal and Brazil. Surveys were conducted to assess Strategic Environmental Assessment integration in their higher education institutions' curricula. Bachelor and masters' programmes and course curricula were analysed through a content analysis based approach. The main results showed a medium state of integration for Strategic Environmental Assessment, while stressing that it is still an unconsolidated area. These results also emphasized that there is a need to discuss the design of Strategic Environmental Assessment specialized courses that respond to societal needs, rethinking the impact assessment educational initiatives and approaches. The integration of this assessment instrument in curricula could have significant implications for the enhancement of higher education practices for sustainable development, by promoting better assessment and management of strategies, policies, legislation, plans and programmes and the decision-making processes involved
