    Extreme wind speed (Kara Sea)

    No full text
This dataset contains wind speed values from ERA5 Reanalysis (obtained from zonal and meridional components of wind speed at 10 meters) for the Kara Sea area for the period 1979-2019. The “real” summer for Arctic is very short, and we used here the data only for July and August. Each dat-file in Archive (total 609 files) is for each grid cell according to grid step of ERA5 (0.25°×0.25°). In order to apply statistical approaches, we composed our data according to the independence condition. Each data sample includes only independent extreme values. We selected the maximum wind speeds from 3-day intervals in wind speed data for each grid cell. Our samples were divided into sea ice and open water conditions, because in some regions, the share of days with ice cover reached 40-50%. As a criterion for this division, we used the concentration threshold of 15%: the days with a sea ice concentration higher than 15% were considered as sea ice conditions and lower than 15% meant open water. We used only open water samples, and in this Archive, we present only these data. These data can be used for statistical analysis

The effect of midbond functions on interaction energies computed using MP2 and CCSD(T)

This data set contains contains raw data (monomer and dimer energy contributions for the A24 data set; interaction energies for the A24 and S66 data sets; number of basis functions for 53 complexes of the S66 data set) as well as geometries of A24 and S66 complexes including midbond centers (denoted X). The MP2 and CCSD(T) calculations for the A24 and S66 data sets were utilized to explore how midbond functions can be used to generate cost effective counterpoise corrected supramolecular interaction energies of noncovalent complexes. The calculations performed using the A24 data set showed that the primary role of midbond functions is not to approach the complete basis set limit, but rather to ensure a balanced description of the molecules and the interaction region (unrelated to the basis set superposition error). For S66 the need for increasing the number of midbond centers was investigated. Addition of a second midbond center leads to an increase in accuracy, however, the effect is secondary to changing the atom centered basis set. Further, the comparison of calculations using the 3s3p2d1f1g midbond set with using aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ as midbond sets showed that the midbond set should not only contain diffuse functions, but also high angular momentum functions in order to be effective. The results for placing midbond centers using two different approaches show that interaction energies are not particularly sensitive to placement as long as the placement is reasonable

In Search of Herbal Anti-SARS-Cov2 Compounds

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the spread of the new coronavirus had reached the stage of a pandemic. To date (23.10.2020), there are more than 40 million confirmed cases of the disease in the world, at the same time there is still no effective treatment for the disease. For management and treatment of SARS-Cov2, the development of an antiviral drug is needed. Since the representatives of all human cultures have used medicinal plants to treat viral diseases throughout their history, plants can be considered as sources of new antiviral drug compounds against emerging viruses. The huge metabolic potential of plants allows us to expect discovery of plant compounds for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus infection. This idea is supported by number of papers on the anti-SARS-Cov2 activity of plant extracts and specific compounds in the experiments in silico, in vitro, and in vivo. Here, we summarize information on methods and approaches aimed to search for anti-SARS-Cov2 compounds including cheminformatics, bioinformatics, genetic engineering of viral targets, interacting with drugs, biochemical approaches etc. Our mini-review may be useful for better planning future experiments (including rapid methods for screening compounds for antiviral activity, the initial assessment of the antiviral potential of various plant species in relation to certain pathogens, etc.) and giving a hand to those who are making first steps in this field. © Copyright © 2020 Matveeva, Khafizova and Sokornova

Název: Studium disrupcí plazmatu v tokamaku COMPASS Autor: Ekaterina Matveeva Katedra: Katedra fyziky povrchů a plazmatu Vedoucí: RNDr. Milan Tichý, Dr.Sc., Univerzita Karlova, Katedra fyziky povrchů a plazmatu Abstrakt: Disrupce plazmatu v tokamaku jsou důležitým fyzikálním jevem, kdy dochází k náhlé ztrátě udržení plazmatu a k prudkému poklesu proudu v plazmatu. Během disrupcí dochází k výraznému mechanickému namáhání konstrukčních struktur tokamaku a k tepelnému zatížení první stěny. Byly instalovány speciální divertorové desky, aby bylo možné...Title: Studies of plasma disruptions in the COMPASS tokamak Author: Ekaterina Matveeva Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Physics Supervisor: RNDr. Milan Tichý, Dr.Sc., Univerzita Karlova, Katedra fyziky povrchů a plazmatu Abstract: Plasma disruption in a tokamak is an important physical phenomenon, when there is a sudden loss of plasma confinement and rapid drop of plasma current. During the disruptions, there is significant mechanical stress on the construc- tional structures of the tokamak and thermal stress on the first wall. Allowable number of disruptions with the maximum plasma parameters in the ITER toka- mak (international thermonuclear experimental reactor under construction) will be very limited. Therefore, investigation of disruptions and their consequences is a key problem for sustainable operation of tokamak devices. The thesis focuses on studies of current quench phase and related currents flow- ing in the vacuum vessel at the COMPASS tokamak. An extensive disruption database was collected and critical disruptions' parameters were determined. Plasma current was measured at 5 toroidal position as a consequence of data acquisition system improvement that allowed reliable measurements by magnetic coils without analogue integrators. Abstract. The author of article considers a problem of a writing of literary biographies which was important for an epoch of 1920-30th years. This problem is studied on an example of the literature and the literary criticism of Russian abroad and the Soviet Russia. Biographies of Russian writers are considered as the form of preservation of national culture, as the reflexion about culture, as the form of ideological and philosophical polemic. Characteristic lines of literary biographies are studied on an example of biographies of the Russian writers created by V. Khodasevich,Matveeva Julia. The Challenges of Vaccine Development against Betacoronaviruses: Antibody Dependent Enhancement and Sendai Virus as a Possible Vaccine Vector

    No full text
Abstract: To design an effective and safe vaccine against betacoronaviruses, it is necessary to use their evolutionarily conservative antigenic determinants that will elicit the combination of strong humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. Targeting such determinants minimizes the risk of antibody-dependent enhancement of viral infection. This phenomenon was observed in animal trials of experimental vaccines against SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV that were developed based on inactivated coronavirus or vector constructs expressing the spike protein (S) of the virion. The substitution and glycosylation of certain amino acids in the antigenic determinants of the S-protein, as well as its conformational changes, can lead to the same effect in a new experimental vaccine against SARS-CoV-2. Using more conservative structural and accessory viral proteins for the vaccine antigenic determinants will help to avoid this problem. This review outlines approaches for developing vaccines against the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that are based on non-pathogenic viral vectors. For efficient prevention of infections caused by respiratory pathogens the ability of the vaccine to stimulate mucosal immunity in the respiratory tract is important. Such a vaccine can be developed using non-pathogenic Sendai virus vector, since it can be administered intranasally and induce a mucosal immune response that strengthens the antiviral barrier in the respiratory tract and provides reliable protection against infection. © 2020, The Author(s)
