Distributional Effects of the CAP on Western German Farm Incomes and Regional Farm Income Disparity
No full textThis study is concerned with measuring impacts of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) on farm income distribution of western Germany. Not only the sheer contribution of market price support and direct payments as a proportion of income is taken into account, but also the impact of support on production incentives. For this purpose, we apply a modelling system consisting of a partial equilibrium model and a programming model. Based on a comparison of Gini coefficients and a decomposition of overall inequality effects we conclude that liberalization of the agricultural sector leads to a more unequal distribution of family farm income in relative terms, whereas a liberalized market provides a more equal situation in absolute terms. No full textDargestellt wird die Konzeption einer um ethnographische Vorgehensweisen erweiterten Konversationsanalyse. Sie soll zum einen den methodisch kontrollierten Zugang zu "inhaltlicheren" Aspekten natürlicher Alltagsgespräche eröffnen. Zum anderen soll sie die Grundlage für die Konzeption der Konversationsanalyse als einer allgemeinen Methodologie zur Untersuchung sprachlicher Phänomene legen. In gegenstandsbezogener Hinsicht wird der methodische Ansatz umgesetzt in Untersuchungen zur Konstitution der Semantik von Wörtern im Gespräch, zum Argumentieren in konfliktären Interaktionssituationen und zur Gruppenkonstitution und sozialen Kategorisierung in verbalen Interaktionen zwischen Jugendlichen.The author argues for a version of conversation analysis that is supplemented by ethnographic procedures. This conception is meant to provide a methodologically refined access to semantic and practical features of naturally occurring talk. Moreover, it aims at broadening the scope of conversation analysis towards becoming a general methodology for the study of linguistic phenomena. This approach is currently applied to inquiries into the semantics of words in interactional exchanges, to analyses of forms of argumentation in different genres of conflict talk and to studies of the ways adolescents establish and negotiate group membership and personal/social identities in conversations.El autor defiende una versión del análisis de la conversación que sea complementada por procedimientos etnográficos. El propósito de esta concepción es acceder a aspectos semánticos y prácticos del hablar natural por medio de una metodología refinada. Es más, este análisis apunta a una visión amplia del análisis de conversación para que pueda llegar a convertirse en una metodología general para el análisis de fenómenos lingüísticos. Zum Gebrauch von Zeigegesten als bedeutungsverankernder Ressource in politischen Debatten
No full textAn der Schnittstelle zwischen Interaktionaler Linguistik und kognitiv orientierter Konstruktionsgrammatik (Deppermann 2006) wird in diesem Vortrag das Potenzial von Zeigegesten bei der Interpretation eines sog. usage event untersucht. Als Datengrundlage für diese qualitative Analyse wurden zwei Plenardebatten im Flämischen Parlament (8 Stn.) herangezogen, die Argumentation im Vortrag bezieht sich auf fünf
Videobelege.
Vor dem Hintergrund eines holistischen Modells der Bedeutungskonstitution (Deppermann 2002) gelten Zeigegesten als eine unter vielen Ressourcen, die (1) Teil der multimodalen Vielschichtigkeit eines usage event sind, in dem sie systematisch mit anderen Ressourcen kookkurrieren, (2) temporal und sequenziell in die interaktionale Handlung eingebettet sind, (3) im Hinblick auf Rezipienten sowie die sozial-materielle Interaktionsumgebung ständig neu gestaltet werden, und (4) einen Beitrag zur grammatischen bzw. konzeptuellen Struktur des usage event leisten.
Dass Zeigegesten nicht auf primitive Referenzmarkierer zu reduzieren sind, wird generell akzeptiert (Kita 2003) genauso wie ihre vielfältigen Erscheinungsformen (Kendon 2004; Fricke 2007) und ihre Kookkurrenzen mit anderen Ressourcen (Clark 1996; Bavelas/Chovil 2000). Auch die dynamische rezipienten- und umgebungsorientierte Einbindung der Zeigegesten wurde bereits mehrfach überzeugend dokumentiert
(Özyürek 2002; Goodwin 2003; Mondada 2014).
In diesem Vortrag wird vorwiegend auf einen bislang unterbeleuchteten Aspekt der Zeigegesten eingegangen, und zwar deren Potenzial als bedeutungskonstituierende Ressource auf linguistischer Ebene (siehe jedoch Ishino 2009). An einigen Belegen soll dokumentiert werden, dass Zeigegesten aktiv zur multimodalen Gestaltung grammatischer, diskursiver bzw. konzeptueller Strukturen beitragen. Konkret werden
dementsprechend Beispiele besprochen, in denen eine Zeigegeste entscheidend zur Realisierung einer ditransitiven Konstruktion, einer Argumentstruktur, einer Parenthese bzw. einer metonymischen Interpretation führt.
Der Charakterisierung von Mondada (2014: 121) “pointing is a complex practice embedded in a multimodal gestalt and mobilized within the temporal and sequential organization of social interaction” sei im Lichte dieser Beispielanalysen noch die Dimension der conceptual and constructional organization (of social interaction) hinzuzufügen.

In: Proceedings of the 2nd Workshop on Gesture and Speech in Interaction (GESPIN 2011). 2011.We present an initial investigation from a semi-experimental setting, in which an Augmented Reality (AR) system, based on Head Mounted Displays (HMD), has been used for real- time collaboration in a task-oriented scenario (design of a museum exhibition). While allowing for a range of technical augmentations, the setting also restricts – due to the wear of HMDs – the participants’ ‘natural’ communicational resources. Our analysis reveals that – under these particular conditions – some everyday strategies of establishing co- orientation with the co-participant turn out to be not functional for the participants. At the same time, we find that some participants change their referencing strategies to overcome system-based limitations and to develop a – under these particular conditions – more efficient method in orienting the co-participant to specific objects or to the interaction situation itself: Participants transform their individual deictic gestures on several objects into other forms of gestural activities like for example the lifting or the tilting of an object. These particular changes in object trajectory are done in order to orientate the co-participants and establish joint attention. Furthermore, gestural referencing seems to be highly variable and contextual, if important interactional resources are artificially reduced
