Precise measurement of Gamma(K ---> e nu(gamma)) / Gamma(K ---> mu nu(gamma)) and study of K ---> e nu gamma
We present a precise measurement of the ratio R(K) = Gamma(K -> e nu(gamma))/Gamma(K -> mu nu(gamma)) and a study of the radiative process K -> e nu gamma, performed with the KLOE detector. The results are based on data collected at the Frascati e(+)e(-) collider DA Phi NE for an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb(-1). We find R(K) = (2.493 +/- 0.025(stat) +/- 0.019(syst)) x 10(-5), in agreement with the Standard Model expectation. This result is used to improve constraints on parameters of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with lepton flavor violation. We also measured the differential decay rate d Gamma(K -> e nu gamma)/dE(gamma) for photon energies 10 < E(gamma) < 250 MeV. Results are compared with predictions from theory
ASSESSMENT OF RADIATION RISK FOR OPERATORS IN INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
The revised dose limit in interventional radiology recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Pro- tection imposes new studies in the implementation of protocols for the radiological protection of operators. The aim is to assess the eye lens dose for different operators of interventional radiology: vascular and neuro radiologists, cardiologists, anesthetists, nurses. Dose measurements were performed with thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) calibrated in Hp(0.07). The correlation between eye lens dose and environmental dose, measured by an ionizing chamber, was also investigated. A cohort of 15 opera- tors from different interventional radiology units were enrolled. Operators of the hemodynamic unit received a much lower dose compared to the dose administered to the vascular and neuro radiology unit. A weak correlation was found between eye lens dose and environmental dose as measured in interventional suite of vascular radiology. Although it would always be better to use dosimeters calibrated in Hp (3), the use of calibrated dosimeters in Hp (0.07) can be a useful tool in the evaluation of the eye lens dose in interventional radiology. Furthermore, the results obtained emphasize that the appropriate use of protective equipment significantly lowers the absorbed eye lens dose. For this reason, this study aims to raise awareness of the importance of radiation protection in interventional radiology
Hadronic physics with KLOE
The KLOE experiment has successfully completed its data taking in March 2006 with a total integrated luminosity of about 2.5 fb−1. We report the newest results on hadronic physics, such as the parameter of scalar a0, the first
observation of the η → π+π−e+e− rare decay, the η − η'
mixing angle, and the measurement of the hadronic cross-section
