Phenol chemisorption onto phthalocyanine thin layers probed by ATR-FTIR difference spectroscopy
Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared
(ATR-FTIR) difference spectroscopy has been employed as a
powerful method for the comprehension of active layer–
analyte interactions, revealing interesting mechanistic aspects
concerning the binding of halogen-substituted phenols onto
phthalocyanine Langmuir–Schaefer films
Investigations and application in piezoelectric phenol sensor of Langmuir-Schäfer films of a copper phthalocyanine derivative functionalized with bulky substituents.
An octa-substituted copper phthalocyanine was dissolved in chloroform and spread on ultrapure water subphase in a Langmuir trough. The floating films were characterized at the air-water interface by the Langmuir isotherm, Brewster angle microscopy, and UV-Vis reflection spectroscopy and transferred by Langmuir-Schäfer technique on a silicon substrate, and thickness, refractive index, and extinction coefficient of the phthalocyanine derivative thin film were calculated by means of spectroscopic ellipsometry. A different number of layers were deposited using Langmuir-Schäfer method onto QCM crystals, and the active layers were tested as sensors for the detection of phenols in aqueous solution. The piezoelectric sensor response, totally reversible, is influenced by the number of transferred layers and by the nature of the substituent; on the contrary, the pK(a) value of the injected analytes slightly affects the device performances. Repeatability of the sensor responses was tested, and the frequency variation appears unchanged at least for 100 days

Educational Potential of English Textbooks for High School
The article deals with the actualization of the educational (upbringing) potential of English textbooks used in senior grades of high school. In the process of teaching a foreign language, a teacher can also influence the development of the material, spiritual, professional, and life values of children through the correct setting of learning goals as well as through the selection of the content of educational materials. They should be informative, rely on the knowledge and experience of students and cause certain emotional experiences. This means that the upbringing concept, which is enshrined in the federal law “On Education in the Russian Federation” and the Federal State Educational Standard and is implemented through various subjects, including the subject “Foreign language”, comes to the fore. In view of this fact the author of the article considers various approaches to education while teaching a foreign language and analyses the way the concept is realized in one of the textbooks used for teaching English in Russian high schools
Master’s level dissertation abstract Subject: The image of Byzantium in the Greek literature of the XIX-XX century. Author Ekaterina Basova, student of the Faculty of Philology, St. Petersburg State University. Total number of pages: 112. The work consists of introductory part, two chapters, conclusion, bibliography and appendix. The purpose of this paper is to provide a holistic analysis of Byzantine themes in Greek literature of the 19th and 20th century, paying special attention to the literature of the first half of the 20th century, namely the poetry of the Generation of the 30s. The first chapter: the first chapter briefly reviews the works on the Byzantine themes, written in the period from the XVIII to the end of the XIX century. The second chapter: this chapter is devoted to the authors of the Generation of the 30s and their reception of the image of Byzantium. This chapter includes two main blocks: 1. The image of Byzantium in the prose of the Generation of the 30s. 2. The image of Byzantium in the poetry of the Generation of the 30s. The second block gives a historical and literary analysis of the poems on the Byzantine themes of George Seferis, Odysseas Elytis and Nikos Engonopulos. The relevance and modernity of this study is due to the fact that the problems of intertextual relations and historical sources, as well as the connection of Byzantine and Modern Greek literature, are by now among the topics, which has been little studied in Modern Greek Studies. This paper shows an analysis of the main works of Greek literature on Byzantine themes, a brief review of the works written at the end of the 18th and 19th centuries and a more detailed analysis of the works of the 20th century, with a focus on the poetry of the Generation of the 30s. Identifies the main images, motifs and character system, characteristic of the period under consideration
Old Ladoga: An ‘Imagined’ Russian Capital
The article is focused on the explanation of the term ‘capital’ in the framework of post-modernism and the development of the concept ‘capitalness’ on the example of Ladoga. The author analyses the elements of ‘capitalness’ of Ladoga and make conclusions about the potential future development of this concept in the mind of Ladoga’s citizens
