Tezaurus „Bezpieczeństwo Pracy i Ergonomia”, który powstał w Centralnym Instytucie Ochrony Pracy – Państwowym Instytucie Badawczym (CIOP-PIB) w latach 90. XX wieku, utworzony został w ramach adaptacji Tezaurusa CIS ILO. Zakres analizowanych publikacji i informacji o nich odpowiada zakresowi badań podstawowych i stosowanych prowadzonych w CIOP/CIOP-PIB, a tym samym zakresowi analizowanego pola badawczego. Wskazanie korelacji z wykorzystaniem kategoryzacji występującej w bazach WoS i Scopus do Tezaurusa BPiE także potwierdziło interdyscyplinarność badań w zakresie BHP. Dodatkowo efektem zindeksowania informacji z lat 1950–2010 i usadowienia ich w bazie BB21 (i katalogu Biblioteki CIOP-PIB) było wprowadzenie tych informacji do ponownego obiegu informacyjnegoThe “Occupational Safety and Ergonomics” thesaurus was created at the Central Institute for Labor Protection in the 1990s, as part of an adaptation of the CIS ILO thesaurus. The main aim of the work was to confirm the role of the discipline thesaurus as a tool for representing the interdisciplinary field of research related to occupational safety and health (OSH), using the above-mentioned thesaurus as an example. This was done in the course of research based on the following assumptions: • OSH is an interdisciplinary research field, • searching for representation in the categorizations of disciplines/scientific areas of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2011), (2018) and OECD (2007) will confirm the interdisciplinary nature of OSH, • the international terminological resources in OSH are a prerequisite for the need for unified indexing of documents related to this issue, because there are recipients whose information needs focus on issues related to various aspects of OSH, • the variability in time of the subjects of research in this area can be identified by analyzing information and publication characteristics of publications, based in particular on the descriptors of the Occupational Safety and Ergonomics thesaurus (OSE Thesaurus) and the descriptor dominating in the BB21 database (CIOP-PIB library catalogue). Research was carried out on selected material, i.e. the subject literature on OSH and the OSE Thesaurus. Literature was limited to publications representative of research in this field, i.e. carried out in 1950-2010 at CIOP/CIOP-PIB and published in selected journals. The scope of the analyzed publications and information on them corresponds to the scope of basic and applied research conducted at CIOP/CIOP-PIB, and corresponds to the scope of the analyzed research field. A retrospective catalog research database (BB21) was created. It made gathering research material in one place (over 2,300 articles) possible; a proper definition of fields in the database helped to organize the material. It has been shown that OSH is an interdisciplinary research field, which includes issues occurring in the sciences, social sciences and life sciences. The search for representation in the categorizations of disciplines/scientific areas of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the OECD has also confirmed the interdisciplinary nature of OSH, as demonstrated by data mapping to the OSE Thesaurus. Indication of the correlation using categorizations found in the WoS and Scopus databases to the OSE Thesaurus has also confirmed the interdisciplinary nature of OSH. A discussion of international OSH terminology resources has confirmed the need to use uniform collections of lexis when developing documents. The main goal of the dissertation - to examine whether and to what extent a discipline thesaurus is a tool for representing research fields that fall within its scope - has been achieved. It has been shown that the lexical resource of the thesaurus - and the relations within it - changed in the light of changes in fields and research directions for the designated area. Additionally, indexing information from 1950-2010 and setting it in the BB21 database (CIOP-PIB Library catalogue) has resulted in its re-introduction into the information flow

Traditional metrics are recognized indicators of impact. However, web communication channels provide scientific community with various new indicators. The main aim of this study is to define the existence of a relationship between citation counts and altmetric mentions in the group of open access scholarly papers. The study was divided into two stages. The first stage was to query the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC) for open access articles in the field of occupational safety and health (N=866). Citation counts were collected for all papers. The second stage of the study involved the use of the Altmetric Explorer. The tool provided altmetric indicators for the papers that were assigned a DOI (N=833). The fact that it collects data using digital identifiers of the documents, makes Altmetric Explorer transparent. Altmetric Explorer collects data from different sources: news mentios, blogs, policy websites, Twitter, patent mentions, peer review mentions, Weibo mentions, Facebook mentions, Wikipedia mentions, Google+ mentions, LinkedIn mentions, Reddit mentions, Pinterest mentions, F1000 mentions, Q&A mentions, video mentions, syllabi mentions, Mendeley readers. The chronological scope of the study covered the years 2013-2019. The data were analyzed using linear regression models. The data were collected on 3th of November, 2019. Analyzed articles collected 3,365 citation counts and 20,273 altmetric indicators. The highest number of indicators was provided by Mendeley – 15,454 and Twitter 4,110. The number of citation counts of OA articles on occupational safety and health was highly dependent on both Mendeley readers and Twitter mentions. Highly significant relationships were as follows: linear regression of Mendeley readers and citations counts: R2 = 24,28%, p < 0,0001, y = 2.080 + 0.1038x, n = 833; linear regression of Twitter mentions and citation counts: R2 = 1,25%, p < 0,0012, y = 3.725 + 0.0460x, n = 832). Conducted analysis revealed that citation counts of open access papers on occupational safety and health are dependent both on Twitter mentions as well as Mendeley readers

Poster presented at Nordic Workshop on Bibliometrics and Research Policy, Borås, Sweden, 7-9 November 2018The aim of this study was to examine whether Google Scholar Alerts (GSA) have a significance for scientific communication. The study was divided into two stages. The first stage was to collect GSA records representing OSH discipline (N=400). GSA were related to articles published in two journals: International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics and Applied Ergonomics which are indexed eg. in Scopus. All articles had DOI assigned. The chronological scope of the study covered December 2016 and 2017. The second stage involved the use of the Altmetric Explorer (http://www.altmeric.com) to check whether the journals having more GSA had more altmetric indicators and whether Twitter mentions and Mendeley readers correlated with GSA. Based on the obtained data, the authors will try to answer the following questions: RQ1. Which journal has more GSA? RQ2. How many GSA are non-active? RQ3. Does a journal having more GSA have more altmetric indicators? RQ4. Does the number of GSA assigned to a particular article correlate with the number of altmetric indicators? RQ5. What, if any, is a significance of GSA in scientific communication

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
