Master in Science in Communication and Information TechnologyThe application of ICT is providing a great achievement for teaching and learning process in the universities. A higher education with adequate ICT resources gained a substantial alteration in the learning process and improvement for the learners. Nevertheless, Indonesia is the largest country in Southeast Asia is classified as the low use of ICT. A shortage of the ICT establishment is occurred in higher education in Indonesia, especially for the lecturers. Lecturers as the human resources management in universities should be able to produce services for the needs of higher education customers. Whereas ICT is potentially turning the substantial changes and benefits, thus the educators have to master ICT knowledge and the competencies. The small use of the technology is due to the occurrence of the digital divide which is caused by several factors, namely the inability to operating, caused by lack of skill or knowledge, and motivation. Therefore, the study is conducted to discover the relationship between the knowledge and motivation towards the use of ICT. Also, the study is arranged to identify the relationship between ICT usage and the learning process quality. The research employed the application of the quantitative research design and data collection through a survey questionnaire. A total of 260 respondents participated in this study. The statistical techniques which are the descriptive statistical analysis and regression analysis methods were employed to analyze the data. The result reveals that the motivation to use ICT and knowledge level of ICT have the contribution towards the utilization of ICT with both significant values as much as 0.000. Then, the use of ICT also has a great impact towards learning process quality with significant value as 0.000. The outcome of the study gives the contribution in term of education. The results show how the role of ICT in the quality of a learning process and education through lectures. With the evidence of the significant relationship between the utilization of ICT towards learning process quality, hence the university should apply this technology in a circle

Causes and alternative treatments of neurological conditions due to environmental toxins:An overview

    No full text
It is fairly obvious that we live in a toxic world and our brains are poisoned continuously, and this constant low level of exposure over time is slowly damaging our neurons and brain cells. The worse news is that this harmful toxic environment is not going to stop anytime in the foreseeable future and environmental toxins are a leading cause of neurological illnesses. It is also well established that oxidative stress contributes to various diseases including diabetes, heart disease, inflammatory conditions, high blood pressure, and neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. It is therefore inevitable that exposure to such conditions including heavy metals, EMF radiation, bacteria and viruses will require a strong immune system to defeat such harmful toxins, and that almost 80 percent of the immune system is located in the gut. The main causes of neurological diseases are already known and the standard drug treatments (e.g., Aricept and Namenda for Alzheimer's) slow the progression of such terrible diseases, but they do not address the root cause of memory loss. Glutathione is known as body's master antioxidant being effective against oxidative stress and inflammation. Along with other natural antioxidants in the body, it works to defeat the harmful effects of free radicals which cause damage to cells and tissue leading to various health conditions. In this review, the main factors, including environmental toxins, causing neurological illnesses like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and natural ways of prevention and treatment protocols have been discussed. The proposed treatment protocol could be lifesaving and is supported by the extensively published literature. </p

The main purpose of this study is to develop a computer system for UniMAP staff to make claims via electronic media. The system development is based on the Treasury Circulars by the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia as well as other circulars related to it. Other important particulars had been built into the system such as salary, grade, entitlement and others. Another additional feature included is the automatic calculations. This system can also be equipped with a security tool to prevent hackers or unauthorised persons, which can be selected from the results of the security analysis. There are three categories of user involved in the development of the system. They are the Claimant, Responsibility Centre and Bursary Department. The Responsibility Centre consists of all administrative departments as well as centres of study from where the budget allocation is acquired. The development of the system begins by designing of the Process Flow Diagrams showing the steps or procedures that need to be followed in sequence respectively. All the three categories of users must follow their flow of the diagrams. Process flow is a flow that determines the movements of the forms from the moment they are submitted up to the stage where payments will be made. This process is to be followed by the designing the Data Flow Diagram and then the Database. The former specifies how the data will flow in the system, whereas the latter is for data storage where all data are kept such as login identifications, passwords, staff personal particulars, entitlements etc. The development of the Database comes in four forms namely Entity-Relationship Diagram, Hierarchical Diagram, Relational Database Diagram and Data Dictionary. Out of twenty encryption algorithms that are available in the Dynamic-Link Library (DLL), only five have been selected to go through and perform analysis for comparison in terms of its performance and compatibility with the developed system. Since this system is Web-based, staff can make claims anywhere, anytime and at any locations. This method can overcome not only human errors but also more efficient, fast and accurate. Therefore, this system can also save time, effort, and administrative costs. In this study, Active Server Pages (ASP) has been chosen to make the calculation and also to generate reports. After the system has been developed, a test was conducted using forms that have been simulated manually. The purpose is to enable the researcher to make comparison with the ones made using the developed system in order to detect errors or flaws from the manual simulation in the system. Testing was also done on the encryption algorithms and Web browsers selected by increasing both the text length size and key length size and observed its performances. Having noted its response times, an analysis was made in order to determine which encryption algorithms’ and Web browsers’ performances were most suited for the developed system and considered the best, which is lower and able to sustain its response times. The results of this study have shown that this system is able to detect all human errors in the traditional manual claim system, in which claimants have made some mistakes. On the other hand, the analysis of encryption algorithms with Web browsers, the results have shown that Twofish algorithm is best suited to the system that has been developed using ASP Web programming language on Internet Explorer. Hence, it is emphatic that all objectives that had been set at the beginning of this research have been met

Link to publisher's homepage at http://johdec.unimap.edu.myThis study is to discover the difference use of ICT between faculty members in Medan, Indonesia with regards to their demographic factors namely: gender, age, teaching experiences, educational level, and department of origin. A total of 260 samples were taken from the overall populations, where a survey was conducted among the academicians from three largest private universities. After the cross-tabulation statistical analysis was completed, the findings are promising. The gender, age and department of origin of university’s lecturers are proven to have a significance on ICT usage. In contrast, after many years of teaching experiences and with their educational level, it is found that it did not have any influence towards the utilization of the technology in their learning process. Thus, there are similar patterns of usage that were also found among them

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
