The Role of Fathers’ Overseas Migration in Educational Performance of Female Children in Sindh, Pakistan
The process of out-migration has significantly been associated with the welfare of the households at origin across the world. The process of migration is mainly initiated from Pakistan with a prime objective to elevate the social position as there are only a few opportunities left for the people to work and earn for livings. The overall size of international migrants from Sindh province is a handful (approximately .9 million) and the majority of these migrants moved to the Gulf region but some also moved to the rest of the world particularly in Europe and the US. The impact of migration can be seen on many aspects of households of migrants but for the current research, it is focused only on female children’s education in the case of Khairpur (Mir’s) district in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. The selection of the respondents was made by using purposive sampling technique. The data was collected from 120 households of migrants who at least had one member living abroad and sending remittances regularly. The focus of the current research was on two major aspects; (a) out-migration and inflow of remittances and (b) educational outcomes of the female children studying at primary school level. It is perceived that migration of father and subsequently the inflow of remittances can make a huge difference for the educational outcomes of female children. In some cases, the inflow of remittances leads toward the improvement in the educational performance of the female children

Mobile web for student portal based on mobile information architecture / Syed Mohammad Hafiz Syed Shahrul Zaman
Due to mobile phone limitation, the small screen size of the device cannot cater to display lots of information in UiTM Student Portal as it would do in bigger screen size of laptop. The limitation causing difficulty and complexity while navigating using the mobile phone. As a result, the navigation ends in user frustration. The goal of this project is to adopting mobile information architecture that will solve the mobile phone information display limitation issues. A good mobile website needs to be simple in its information architecture. To keep it simple, the website's defined goal was obtained from the interview session with the web developer, while the context of use and most used application were obtained by questionnaire distributed. Related mobile websites also ware surveyed to outline the mobile information architecture. Several tools such as sitemap, clickstream, wireframe and prototype were constructed to assist in developing simpler information architecture. To determine whether the recommend mobile website developed that adopting the mobile information architecture meets the usability, a usability testing session was conducted. System Usability Scale (SUS) was used for the usability testing. The usability testing result shows that, a big marginal difference in usability scores between the current interface of Student Portal in mobile phone and the recommended website developed where the users preferring the Student Portal in mobile phone that adopting the mobile information architecture. In conclusion, the mobile information architecture eases the user to navigate the mobile website better and less frustration. The aim of the project is achieved
Towards Divine Economics: Some Testable Propositions
Throughout the human history, the religion has remained a fundamental feature of social construct and human behaviour. Religious orientation plays important role in shaping human perceptions about economic and non-economic activities. With few exceptions, religion has remained an un-explored area in economics. For most economists, narrative and metaphor have no place in a rational choice theory, which is a wrong belief. In fact, any approach that considers behavioural laws satisfying the criteria of objectivity, reproducibility, and refutability is scientific and falls in purview of rational choice framework. A few studies, however, do exist on economics of religion under rational choice concerning to households, groups, and entire “religious markets”. [Becker (1976); Iannaccone (1988, 1990, 1992, 1993); Mack and Leigland (1992)]. Rosenberg (1985) presents discussion of the limitations of neoclassical economic theory due to its reliance on exogenous differences in taste and preference. It is argued that these limitations cannot be circumvented by findings and theories in other disciplines (e.g., psychology), because any measurement of preferences must begin with neoclassical assumptions about rationality. The alternative to tasteendogeniety advanced by [Becker (1976)] is found to only circumvent the usual difficulties if “stable preferences” notion is interpreted as needs. Further advancement is not taking place because of the important heterogeneous variables, which have yet received little attention from economists. Such variables may be found in attitudes and values acquired by consumers in variety of social and religious environments.
