Fakta Sejarah Kekalahan Jepang dalam Perang Dunia II pada film Nihon no Ichiban Nagai Hi Karya Sutradara Masato Harada
Film Nihon no Ichiban Nagai Hi merupakan salah satu film bertema sejarah karya sutradara Masato Harada. Film ini berpusat pada bulan Agustus 1945, di mana selama akhir Perang Dunia II Jepang didesak untuk menerima Deklarasi Potsdam dan Amerika Serikat menjatuhkan bom atom di Hiroshima dan Nagasaki. Dalam film ini terdapat beberapa fakta sejarah yang bisa menambah wawasan mengenai sejarah Jepang khususnya mengenai kekalahan Jepang dalam Perang Dunia II. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fakta sejarah kekalahan Jepang dalam Perang Dunia II pada film Nihon no Ichiban Nagai Hi karya sutradara Masato Harada dengan menggunakan pendekatan historis dan metode deskriptif analisis untuk menganalisis kejadian tersebut dengan fakta-fakta yang ada dan memperkuat bukti bahwa kejadian tersebut benar-benar terjadi.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kekalahan Jepang dalam Perang Dunia II disebabkan oleh desakan pihak Sekutu yang meminta Jepang menyerah tanpa syarat dengan mengeluarkan Deklarasi Potsdam. Namun, Jepang yang memilih menunjukkan sikap diam ini diartikan Sekutu bahwa Jepang tidak menerima Deklarasi Potsdam hingga kemudian pihak Amerika yang geram menjatuhkan bom atom di Hiroshima dan Nagasaki serta disusul dengan pernyataan perang oleh Uni Soviet kepada Jepang yang membuat Jepang semakin tersudut. Kabinet Jepang menemui hasil buntu dalam pertemuannya membahas pengambilan keputusan Deklarasi Potsdam sehingga Perdana Menteri Kantaro Suzuki meminta Kaisar Hirohito untuk memberikan tanggapannya, Kaisar Hirohito dengan lugas menyatakan keputusannya bahwa dengan menerima Deklarasi Potsdam akan dapat menghentikan perang dan menghindarkan Jepang dari penderitaan dan kehancuran. Pada 14 Agustus 1945 Jepang menyerah kepada Sekutu dan keesokan harinya melalui siaran radio nasional disiarkan rekaman suara Kaisar Hirohito membacakan Maklumat Kaisar yang menyatakan bahwa perang telah berakhir
