    MODEL PEMBELAJARAN LOGIKA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR LOGIS : Kuasi-Eksperimen Peningkatan Penalaran Melalui Pembelajaran Logika Ibnu Sina Bagi Mahasiswa Fakultas Pendidikan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia

    To serve the purpose an experiment had been set up in Economic Department, Faculty of Social Sciences, Indonesia University of Education, in which the first year students served to be the subjects of the study. Besides this quantitative design, qualitative research procedures had also been done to collect complementary data required to assess the appropriateness of the model resulted. The logics experimented in this research was developed on the bases of (1) Kitab Al-Hidayah, (2) Kitab Fi Sabili Mausu’ah Falsafiah, (3) Kitab Asy-Syifa, (4), Kitab An-Najah, (5) Kitab Al-Isyarat wat Tanbihat, (6) Kitab Al Mantiq As-Sinawi, and (7) The Book of Avecinna. The data were collected through test of reasoning, learning process evaluation, and document analsysis. The quantitative data resulted were then analyzed using statistical testings, while the qualitative data were analyzed through the use of two philosophical approaches: phenomenology and hermeneutics. The results of the analysis shows that there is a significant difference in reasoning level between students using the experimented educational model and those using the existing educational model. It is also showed that the logics of Avecinna (1) may serve as “the key” to the understanding of several disciplines, (2) is subdivided into 9 parts, and (3) employs deductive and inductive approaches. The research also shows that The Avecinna model includes thinking and debating, pairing and sharing; and that the lecturer involved has the following characteristics: capable, planner, motivator, developer, and innovator. In conclusion, the research has been successful in developing an educational model based on the logics of Avecinna which may be used for the enhancement of students’ potentials in logical thinking and sound reasoning. However, as this study is very limited both in terms of the scope and of the sites, more specific and focused studies on other aspects of philisophy of education based on Avecinna logics need to be conducted. Masalah pokok dalam penelitian ini adalah: “Model Pendidikan yang bagaimana yang bisa meningkatkan keterampilan penalaran bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Pendidikan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia? Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran Logika Ibnu Sina bagi mahasiswa FPIPS UPI, khususnya Jurusan Pendidikan Ekonomi yang didasarkan pada kelompok kompetensi yang akan dicapai pada satu periode tertentu. Sumber pemikiran Ibnu Sina yang dijadikan rujukan peneliti dalam menggali Ilmu Menalar (Logika) ini adalah : (1) Kitab Al-Hidayah; (2) Kitab Fi Sabili Mausu’ah Falsafiah; (3) Kitab Asy-Syifa; (4) Kitab An-Najah; (5) Kitab Al-Isyarat Wat Tanbihat; (6) Kitab Al-Mantiq As-Sinawi; dan (7) Buku Avicenna. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi-eksperimen yang didahului dengan metode fenomenologi dan hermeneutik. Adapun langkah-langkah eksperimennya adalah: (1) mengidentifikasi bermacam-macam variabel yang relevan; (2) mengidentifikasi variabel-variabel non eksperimental; (3) menentukan rancangan eksperimen; (4) memilih subjek yang representatif dan merancang kelas kelompok kontrol serta kelas kelompok eksperimen; (5) merancang perlakuan dan kontrol; (6) Menyusun instrumen tes dan memvalidasinya; (7) merancang prosedur pengumpulan data; (8) melaksanakan eksperimen; (9) mengatur data kasar; (10) menerapkan tes signifikansi; (11) membuat interpretasi mengenai hasil tes, dan (12) menulis laporannya dalam rangka penulisan disertasi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan kesimpulan sebagai berikut: (1) Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan tingkat penalaran peserta didik yang mendapat perlakuan dengan penalaran peserta didik kelompok kontrol; (2) Logika Ibnu Sina terbagi menjadi sembilan bagian, yaitu: pengantar, kategori sepuluh, proposisi, silogisme, demonstrasi, dialektika, retorika, poetika, dan sophistika; pendekatan yang digunakan dalam Logika Ibnu Sina adala deduktif dan induktif; (3) model pembelajaran Logika Ibnu Sina yang dapat digunakan adalah model pembelajaran debat dan model pembelajaran think, pair and share; (4) kriteria dosen yang dapat memberikan materi Logika Ibnu Sina adalah mereka yang memiliki sifat-sifat capable personal, depelover, motivator, innovator, dan planner; (5) dalam hal evaluasi diberikan bentuk pertanyaan yang mengandung logika untuk mengukur tingkat kecerdasan peserta didik atau sejenis tes potensi akademik atau psikotes; dan (6) gambaran realitas ideal bagi mahasiswa yang sudah mendapatkan pembelajaran Logika Ibnu Sina adalah mampu mengikuti dengan mudah belajar yang lain dan mendapatkan prestasi lebih baik dibanding yang tidak belajar logika. Akhirnya penelitian ini merekomendasikan untuk perlunya penelitian lanjutan yang lebih spesifik dan fokus tentang filsafat pendidikan di Indonesia, khususnya di UPI yang didasarkan pada gagasan Logika Ibnu Sina

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
