Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Full text linkThis thesis investigates the contemporary online debate about compensation for the Indo-European community in the Netherlands, using the sociology of emotions as a theoretical lens. It consists of a qualitative text analysis of posts and comments in the Indo-European blogosphere, respectively from Blimbing, Indisch4Ever and Java Post. Readers’ letters published in Moesson – a monthly magazine devoted to the Indo-European community – are used as an additional source.
Anger is a prominent emotion in the Indo-European blogosphere. Differentiating the range of emotions revolving around compensation allows for the act of being angry to be seen as an act of emancipation in a postcolonial context, in which behaviour previously reserved to the former colonizer, is appropriated. However fulfilling the performance of anger may be on the individual level, it complicates the possibilities for dialogue on a societal level by enforcing opposing identities of protestors versus government. This leads commenters in the Indo-European blogosphere to continue to regard the Dutch government with distance and distrust. It also causes the debate about compensation to rarely transcend its financial level, rather than be regarded as part of a wider process of recognition
Terug op koers. De bruikbaarheid van het concept moreel kapitaal voor de profilering van de geestelijke verzorging.
Full text linkDoor de toenemende marktgerichtheid in de zorg staat de vanzelfsprekendheid van de geestelijke verzorging in de zorg onder druk. De geestelijke verzorging staat voor de uitdaging om zich helder te profileren binnen de organisatie. Hoe kan de geestelijke verzorging verantwoording afleggen aan een instelling waar het draait om het aanleveren van meetbare resultaten zonder het eigene van de geestelijke verzorging te verliezen?
In dit onderzoek wordt gekeken in hoeverre het filosofische concept moreel kapitaal een aanknopingspunt kan bieden voor de profilering van de geestelijke verzorging binnen een ziekenhuis. Hiervoor is een casestudy gedaan binnen het Erasmus MC te Rotterdam. Om de vraag te beantwoorden is gebruik gemaakt van twee kwalitatieve analysemethoden; ten eerste een thematische analyse van semi-gestructureerde interviews gehouden binnen de hiërarchische lijn in het Erasmus MC en ten tweede een discoursanalyse volgens de methode van Fairclough (2003) van beleidsdocumenten van het Erasmus MC.
Uit beide analyses blijkt dat moreel kapitaal wenselijk wordt geacht voor de organisatie. Bovendien stellen de respondenten dat de geestelijke verzorging hier een bijdrage aan kan leveren zowel op de werkvloer als op beleidsniveau. Uit de discoursanalyse blijkt echter dat het neoliberale beleid meer de boventoon voert dan blijkt uit de interviews. Bovendien blijkt de geestelijke verzorging in de hogere echelons van de organisatie vrijwel onzichtbaar waardoor een kloof in ontstaan tussen beide partijen. Moreel kapitaal kan echter een aanknopingspunt bieden voor de geestelijke verzorging om zich zowel te profileren op de werkvloer als op beleidsniveau
