    Fixture layout optimization for multi point respot welding of sheet metals

    The high quality of welding in the automotive industry is achieved by proper positioning of the fixture elements. A new method, N-3-2-1 (N ≥ 1), is proposed for fixture layout optimization of sheet metals. The flexible nature of the sheet metals requires N+3 fixture elements to constrain it normal to the surface (primary plane), but 2-1 fixture elements for other two directions (secondary and tertiary). The objective function is to achieve high stiffness of the workpiece and is calculated in terms of strain energy. Finite element analysis (FEA) was combined with genetic algorithm. A method was also proposed to find the optimum fixturing position of the workpiece in multipoint respot welding operation. Two different kinds of case studies were solved and the performance of the proposed method was also tested in the industrial scenario by fixturing the workpiece and completing the respot welding operation with satisfactory results

    Nonlinear response topology optimization using equivalent static loads—case studies

    Nonlinear structural optimization is fairly expensive and difficult, because a large number of nonlinear analyses is required due to the large number of design variables involved in topology optimization. In element density based topology optimization, the low density elements create mesh distortion and the updating of finite element material with low density elements has a severe effect on the optimization results in the next cycles. In order to overcome these difficulties, the equivalent static loads method for nonlinear response structural optimization (ESLSO) primarily used for size and shape optimization has been applied to topology optimization. The nonlinear analysis is performed with the given loading conditions to calculate equivalent static loads (ESLs) and these ESLs are used to perform linear response optimization. In this paper, the authors have presented the results of five case studies with material, geometric and contact nonlinearities showing good agreement and providing justification of the proposed method

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Novel loss-of-function variants expand ABCC9 -related intellectual disability and myopathy syndrome

    Abstract Loss-of-function mutation of ABCC9, the gene encoding the SUR2 subunit of ATP sensitive-potassium (KATP) channels, was recently associated with autosomal recessive ABCC9-related intellectual disability and myopathy syndrome (AIMS). Here we identify nine additional subjects, from seven unrelated families, harboring different homozygous LoF variants in ABCC9 and presenting with a conserved range of clinical features. All variants are predicted to result in severe truncations or in-frame deletions within SUR2, leading to the generation of non-functional SUR2-dependent KATP channels. Affected individuals show psychomotor delay and intellectual disability of variable severity, microcephaly, corpus callosum and white matter abnormalities, seizures, spasticity, short stature, muscle fatigability, and weakness. Heterozygous parents do not show any conserved clinical pathology but report multiple incidences of intrauterine fetal death, which were also observed in an eighth family included in this study. In vivo studies of abcc9 LoF in zebrafish revealed an exacerbated motor response to pentylenetetrazole, a pro-convulsive drug, consistent with impaired neurodevelopment associated with an increased seizure susceptibility. Our findings define an ABCC9 LoF related phenotype, expanding the genotypic and phenotypic spectrum of AIMS and reveal novel human pathologies arising from KATP channel dysfunction

    MICROPROPAGATION OF SWEET POTATO (Ipomoea batatas L.) IN A NEW PLANT TISSUE CULTURE MEDIUM

    A Thesis Submitted to the faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka for partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN BIOTECHNOLOGYThe experiment was conducted at the Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biotechnology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of January 2021 to December 2021, to study the micro propagation of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) in a new plant tissue culture medium (SAU tissue culture medium). Six different culture media were compared to explore the potential of SAU Tissue cult ure medium for regeneration of sweet potato. Data were recorded on the percentage of regeneration, days to shoot initiation, and the number of shoots per explant at different time intervals. The SAU tissue culture medium showed best performance for all the parameter under study among the two other treatments MS (1962) medium and MS powder medium. The results showed that SAU Tissue Culture Medium supplemented with 1.00 mg/L KIN+2.00 mg/L NAA had the highest percentage of regeneration (90%), shorter days to shoot initiation (12.33 days) as compared to other treatments. The highest number of leaves per explant (11.33) and maximum length of shoot (9.2cm) were also observed in the same medium at 35 DAI. In regenerated plantlets 90% survival was found in growth chamber, 85% survival under shade house and 80% in open field condition. Micropropagation of sweet potato was successfully done in SAU tissue culture medium which can be utilized for large scale plantlet production program
