THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY USING THE MODELLING THE WAY METHOD
No full textThis qualitative study investigates the effectiveness of the modeling the way (MTW) method in enhancing the learning of English vocabulary among third-year students at MTS Ta'dib Al-Mu'allimin Al-Islamy. The MTW method, which emphasizes the role of modeling and imitation in language learning, was implemented in a controlled classroom setting to assess its impact on students' vocabulary acquisition. The data were collected through observations, interviews, and a vocabulary test administered before and after the intervention. The findings indicate that the MTW method significantly improved students' vocabulary retention and recall, with a notable increase in their ability to use new words in context. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of teacher modeling and student engagement in the learning process. Then, this study suggests that the MTW method can be a valuable tool for English language instructors seeking to enhance their students' vocabulary skills. The study's implications for language teaching and learning are discussed for emphasizing the potential of the MTW method to improve students' language proficiency and overall academic performance
FACTORS OF PERSONAL MOTIVATION IN ERIC RAMIRO KIRSTEN’S MOVIE SCRIPT MIDNIGHT SUN
Get PDFThis study is conducted to analyze the factors of personal motivation in Midnight Sun movie written by Eric Kirsten. This study applies qualitative descriptive method since the process and the result of the research are accomplished descriptively. Then, the theory proposed by McClelland is used in this study. He mentions two types of factors of personal motivation. The factors include internal and external. This study is focused only on internal factors. It is stated that five factors belong to internal factors of motivation. After having analyzed those factors in the movie, only four factors are found in the analysis. They are need, hope, responsibility, self-esteem and achievement, while, job satisfaction is not found in the movie. The four internal factors happen within the protagonist himself. These factors emerge from the characters’ personal motivation. By the internal factors, the protagonist can make his dream come true. In conclusion, the result of this study shows that to realize dream and to avoid adversity, we must have a motivation to make it happen

This study only focuses on the negative embodiment of the Protagonist, internal conflict, and the positive one is not discussed. The theory used in this study is the theory of psychological conflicts; while, the method is descriptive method. The negative embodiment of the protagonist’s internal conflict which can be found in the novel are sadness, and disappointment. First, the protagonist often feels sad. Such feeling falls down on the protagonist’s mind. There are some characters who cause the protagonist’s sadness. Even, the protagonist feels distressed because of improper treatments from the other characters. Her sadness proves that there is an internal conflict which happens to her. The second is disappointment. Besides sadness, the protagonist also looks disappointed with those characters. Their reaction to the protagonist leaves her disappointment. In conclusion, some characters contribute conflicts for the protagonist. It can be said that external factors can result in internal conflict to anyone
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. This cause deals with different ethnicity and status which are found in the novel. The second is different personality. This cause is triggered by greed, selfishness, and anger. Those can be found in the novel. Some characters show such personalities. Then, the third is needs. The needs of treasure and inheritance result in conflict in the family in the novel. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
