    Statistical Approaches in GIS-Based Techniques for Sustainable Planning: Kayaçukuru Case

    The purpose of this study is to make both a summary and additional descriptive and inferential statistical analyses for a completed thesis on "Sustainable/Environment Friendly Development Planning of Fethiye-Kayaçukuru Using GIS-Based Techniques" (M.Sc. in the Graduate School of Geodetic and Geographic Information Technologies, Middle East Technical University, Supervisor: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Oğuz Işık, September 2000, 214 pages). The statistical analyses explained in this paper comprise a part of the whole GIS-based techniques developed for a case study about Fethiye-Kayaçukuru Plain to explore the contributions of such an approach. In this respect, first, the study area, spatial and non-spatial data and the way they are handled are introduced. Then, the performed statistical descriptive and predictive analyses/models and their interpretations in the developed "loose-coupled" "decision/planning support system" are mentioned. Finally, the concluding remarks of the study are discussed emphasising the contributions of this approach in the sustainable/environment friendly development planning and in particular for the Plain.     Spatial variability of gases like radon and helium in soil-gas can be used for seismic surveillance and for finding fault system.The present study is aimed at determining a possible connection between eventual radon/helium anomalies and active fault.Radon and helium concentrations in subsurface soil-gas have been monitored along the Shan-Chiao fault,Northern Taiwan.Twenty transverse pro file surveys have been conducted across the fault,where 235 and 125 samples were collected for helium and radon analyses,respectively.The data analysis clearly reveals anomalous values of both radon and helium along the fault.To find the fault system,where the migration of gases is governed by advection,it is essential to identify the anomalies in both radon and helium together.The consistency ofthis pattern con firms that radon and helium together can act as a powerful tool for the detection and mapping of active fault zones

    Il mio elaborato ha due scopi principali, il primo è quello di rivisitare due strumenti molto importanti nel campo medico, ovvero la tomografia computerizzata e l'immagine diagnostica. Vedremo cos'è la T.C., come si è sviluppata negli ultimi 30 anni e come avviene la ricostruzione dell'immagine diagnostica che richiede l'uso di un particolare algoritmo cosiddetto di retroproiezione filtrata. Il secondo scopo è mostrare come lo strumento matematico alla base della t.c. sia la Trasformata di Radon. Ci soffermeremo sulla sua importanza, sul legame che ha con la Trasformata di Fourier, sulle sue proprietà e su come l’inversa sia importante nella ricostruzione dell’immagine
