Minimal residual disease detection and monitoring in children with neuroblastoma
Get PDFNeuroblastoom is een zeldzame vorm van kinderkanker. Kinderen met een hoog risico om te overlijden hebben meestal uitzaaiingen. Deze groep kan geïdentificeerd worden door tumorcellen op te sporen in het beenmerg (tumorload). Tijdens de therapie zegt tumorload iets over de respons op de behandeling. Is hij laag dan spreekt men van minimale resterende ziekte (Minimal Residual Disease, MRD). Janine Stutterheim zocht naar nieuwe markers om MRD te detecteren en keek naar de klinische relevantie daarvan. Enkele nieuwe markers bleken beter dan bestaande. Ze pleit voor een combinatie van markers omdat niet alle markers in dezelfde mate aanwezig zijn bij verschillende patiënten
