Get PDFThe study examines the image of the Greeks in two of the codices of the Chronicle of Morea, the H and the Arag ., texts of the 14th century, with the lost prototype tracing back to t he start of the same century. The image of the G reeks (which are usually called Ρωμα?οι and griegos respectively in the two texts )), is directly linked with the identity of the authors a nd the targeting of the texts ? composition The author of H aligns wit h the Franks, he disp arages the Greeks of Constantinople, while exhibiting a more positive attitude about the local Greeks of Morea. He does not hesitate to distort historical reality it self in order to achieve his goals, which are praising the Villehardouins and the nostalgic reminiscing of an era that had been lost for good. On the other hand, on the Aragonese text, the author’ s stance on the Greeks and the Franks is generally negative. He, same as before, is positive regarding the local Greeks of Morea . The author never align s himself with the Francs, which makes him more objective. He is mainly interested in the subjects that relate to the Kingdom of Aragon, while his stance is influenced by the fact that his work is completed not long after the described events, comissioned by an prominent ex administrator of Morea

No full text This paper deals with the presence of hymnographical texts in schedographic collections in Byzantium. It employs Lesb. Leimonos, in which seven of the total 27 schedē that it contains are well-known hymnographical texts, as a point of departure, to show that such a phenomenon can be found in other manuscripts. The conclusion to be drawn here is that this was a common practice in education and that hymnographical texts were used either unchanged or paraphrased. A diplomatic edition of the seven schedē is placed at the end of the paper to allow the reader to understand how the schedē were used in the teaching of ancient Greek
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
