Revisiting the Acheulean at Namib IV in the Namib Desert, Namibia
Namib IV (S23° 44.829’, E14° 19.720’) is frequently cited, as it is one of few Earlier Stone Age sites in the Sand Sea of the Namib Desert. The site was first investigated in 1978 by Myra Shackley, who described 582 artifacts on the surface of a pan as representing an Acheulean butchery site. Descriptions of the artifacts, their number, and area were inconsistently reported. Recently rediscovered, the site of Namib IV is a rare example of a tool-rich and fossil fauna-bearing pan system in the Namib Sand Sea. This project aims to investigate when, how, and under what environmental conditions hominins utilized these landscapes. This article presents the first archaeological research conducted at the site in over 40 years. Typological and technological data was collected from surface-exposed artifacts and large cutting tools (LCTs) and compared to Shackley’s assemblage. Landscape evolution and hydrology at the Late Pleistocene archaeological site of Narabeb in the Namib Sand Sea, Namibia
The Namib Sand Sea (NSS) in Namibia is known to preserve a wide variety of Pleistocene-age archaeological sites. However, few Middle Stone Age (MSA) sites in this region have been systematically investigated and basic questions around chronology and technological organization remain open. Here we examine Narabeb, an open air MSA surface site exposed in an interdune pan, ∼30 km into the northern NSS. Narabeb was first documented in the 1970s, and then re-examined in 2021 and 2022 by members of this team. Lithic technological analysis combined with a geomorphological description of the site, palaeoenvironmental interpretation of fine-grain water-lain sediments, and luminescence ages from northern and southern locations on the Narabeb pan provide some of the first understanding of human-environmental interactions and estimates of chronology from the later-Middle and Late Pleistocene in the NSS. In addition, we apply a quantitative approach to aeolian linear dune accumulation and extension to explore possible scenarios for landscape development at this site, in order to better understand the former water course(s) affecting the area. The new chronology suggests this site contained standing water at, or just after, the MIS 7/6 transition, and again at, or just after, the end of MIS 6 into early MIS 5. The timing of greater phases of water availability have some overlap with the speleothem growth record at Rössing Cave, situated ∼90 km north of the NSS (and ∼135 km north of Narabeb). Our results provide the foundation for larger, regional-scale analyses of early human adaptive strategies in this unique environment within Southern Africa

Many scholars have tried to deliberate and explain the laws of their traditions, starting from classical times to modern times, among them is the book of shari'a known as nama AUN AL MA'B├øD ÔÇÿALA SYARH SUNAN ABI DAUD. In this study, the author applies the reseach library method by making the book ÔÇÿAUN AL MA'B├øDÔÇÿ ALA SYARH SUNAN ABI DAUD as the main book of research objects and supported by various other sources. The problem in this study is to reveal the identity of the author of this book, the background of the writing of this book, and the method used by the author in directing this book. From the research, it was found that the identity of the author of this book was two religious scholars from India who were motivated by Syams al-Haq's desire for his brother Syarf al-Haq to write a simple book of the Sunan Abi Daud which had no length. And the method used by Syarf al-Haq in counseling this book is the simple and simple method of shar tahll
Dating Hominin Occupation of the Northern Namib Sand Sea, Namibia
The Namib Sand Sea (NSS) is one of the oldest deserts on Earth, representing a significant challenge to human occupation, yet, despite these challenges, Early Stone Age (ESA) and Middle Stone Age (MSA) tools are found across this hyperarid landscape. Whilst surface scatters are hindered by a lack of clear stratigraphy, they provide a spatially integrated record of the structuring of landscape use through time and relationships to sources of raw material and water. Omitting such sites leads to bias in our interpretations of early hominin distribution. We are investigating how and why early hominins were moving into the northern NSS, focussing on the two interdune pan sites of Namib IV (Leader et al., 2023) and Narabeb. This poster sets out the context of these archaeological sites and the stratigraphies observed.To establish the palaeoenvironmental context of the lithics (both ESA and MSA) and fossil fauna at Namib IV we dug a series of test pits to explore the sedimentological record contained at these sites. The surface at Namib IV has a fairly complex meso-topography with a spatially patchy calcrete at the surface, and our test pits reveal a similarly complex sedimentary record across space. This includes the preserved remnant of an aeolian slip face, and elsewhere a number of horizontally bedded units beneath the calcrete. 13 samples from Namib IV were selected for luminescence dating, using pIR-IRSL feldspar methods, anticipating ages close to quartz saturation (e.g. Stone et al. (2010) in this region).Narabeb contains predominantly MSA lithics. North of the artefact collection area is a prominent ‘ledge’ of interbedded muds and sands, previously dated using quartz OSL (Stone et al., 2010). Genetic Assessment of a Captive Population of Eurasian Stone-Curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus), Source for the Reinforcement of Wild Populations
Although ex situ conservation programs are increasingly valuable support tools for in situ conservation measures, success depends on these captive individuals to be genetically representative of the recipient population. The Eurasian stone-curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus) inhabit steppes that represent some of the most degraded and exploited habitats worldwide. A captive breeding program was implemented in Morocco as a pre-emptive effort for the conservation of the North African subspecies Burhinus oedicnemus saharae. However, the genetic origins of the founders of the captive flock were unknown. We applied a multi-locus approach to characterize the genetic ancestry of the current captive breeding flock by comparing it to wild populations from both Western and Eastern Morocco. Mitochondrial DNA and microsatellite markers were employed to assess levels of genetic diversity and relatedness within each sample, as well as potential genetic differentiation between wild and captive samples through PCA and admixture analyses. We recovered similar genetic diversity estimates, low levels of relatedness, and little differentiation between captive and wild samples. These results confirmed the Moroccan origin of the founders. We provide recommendations for the optimization of the Eurasian Stone Curlew conservation breeding program but also for future conservation breeding programs to ensure the effective conservation of genetic diversity and wild populations

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is brain damage caused by events after birth. There are many possible causes, including a fall, a road accident, tumour and stroke. The common effects to patients with ABI range from only
minor problems with memory to long term physical and learning disabilities [1]. In the UK alone, there are 348,934 admissions to hospital with ABI [2]. The rehabilitation process for ABI patients is both long and expensive either for the patients or the public health service provider [3].
This project aims to provide an automated process for making the research in this area a lot simpler by collecting both passive and subjective data from the patient through the use of a mobile application and a smartwatch. This is an alternative approach to a face-to-face reporting from the patient to the researcher

Furthermore, data collected will enable further research into the study of the patterns in which the patients experience fatigue
Da'wah Communication Style with Games on Ustadz Abi Azkakia Through Live Tiktok: Gaya Komunikasi Dakwah dengan Game Pada Ustadz Abi Azkakia Melalui Tiktok
This research is motivated by the development of social media as a means of preaching. one of the Ustadz who has his own uniqueness is Ustadz Abi Azkakia who preaches by playing mobile legend games while live on Tiktok. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method. In which the author describes the style of da'wah communication carried out by Ustadz Abi Azkakia on live streaming TikTok based on data obtained from following live streaming and analyzing video posts on his Tiktok account. This study aims to determine the communication style used by Ustadz Abi Azkakia with games in preaching on Tiktok media. The results showed that Ustadz Abi Azkakia used two types of communication styles, namely assertvie style (direct eye contact, likes humor, accepts opinions, expressions) and passive style (little expression, rarely eye contact, gentle)
Ibn Abi 'l-Dunyā on Penitence
Brockelmann lists no fewer than forty-four surviving works of the celebrated litterateur Ibn Abi 'l-Dunyā, (d. 281/894), who was tutor to the caliphs al-Mu'tadid (d. 291/902) and al-Muktafī (d. 295/908), ten more than the catalogue of titles given by Ibn al-Nadīm. While no detailed study of this important and entertaining author has yet been undertaken and the contents of only one of his books are at all well known, it is evident from his titles that the great majority of these works discuss various ascetic themes; so that Ibn al-Nadīm is sufficiently justified in including him in his section on zuhhād, 'ubbād, and mutaṣauwifa. As a traḍitionist he was reckoned to be trustworthy (ṣadūq) by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (d. 327/939), quoting the opinion of his father, Abū Ḥātim Muḥammad b. Idrīs b. al-Mundhir al-Tamīmī al-Ḥanẓalī al-Rāzi (d. 277/890): this might, indeed, be considered a somewhat biased judgment, for Muḥammad b. Idrīs, as we shall show later, was one of Ibn Abi 'l-Dunyā's favourite sources of information. The same favourable estimate was reached by Abū. 'Ahī Ṣāliḥ b. Muḥammad b. 'Amr b. Ḥabīb al-Asadī (d. 293/906), who, however, added the demurrer that Ibn Abi 'l-Dunyā attended a certain Muḥammad b. Isḥāq, of Balkh, who was a liar, a forger, and a fabricator of isnād.</jats:p
