Women, citizenship and policies in Québec in the 1920's and 1930's. This text presents a historical overview of the rich life of feminine associative network in order to explain the context in which Canadian women obtained the right to vote in the 1920's. The author argues that in this feminine movement is practised the enlargement of social action, mainly in Québec, where women were still excluded from the right to vote until 1940. They were therefore developing alternative modes of intervention, which analysts did not readily defined as political but social, but which eventually evolved into social policies adopted by the Welfare State. Through the presentation of the Québec case, the author underlines the close relationships that existed between those women associations in articulating a strategy, often ambivalent, to enlarge women pratice of citizenship.Cohen Yolande. Si Marie de France était Marie de Meulan

Working from Holmes' suggestion that Marie de France is Marie de Beaumont de Meulan, wife of Hugues de Talbot, I examine the importance, role and family connections of the Beaumonts and Talbots in the Normandy, England and Ireland of the second half of the XIIth century. This study agrees with the identification proposed by Holmes and asserts that the author of the Espurgatoire is the same person as the author of the Lais and Fables. It shows also that the dedicatee of the Fables could well be William Marshal but that the dedicatee of the Lais would be the young king Henry rather than his father, Henry II.Reprenant l'identification proposée par Holmes de Marie de France à Marie de Beaumont de Meulan, épouse de Hugues de Talbot, j'examine l'importance, le rôle et les relations familiales des Beaumont et Talbot dans la Normandie, l'Angleterre et l'Irlande de la deuxième moitié du XIIe s. AbstractHere we report details on the design and conformational analysis of two novel peptides showing antimicrobial properties, as reported in the research article, “New antimicrobial peptides against foodborne pathogens: from in silico design to experimental evidence” G. Palmieri, M. Balestrieri, Y.T.R. Proroga, L. Falcigno, A. Facchiano, A. Riccio, F. Capuano, R. Marrone, G. Campanile, A. Anastasio (2016) [1]. NMR data, such as chemical shifts in two different solvents as well as aCH protons deviations from random coil values and NOE patterns, are shown together with the statistics of structural calculations. Strategy and particulars of molecular design are presented

    No full text
One of the outstanding features of the contemporary world is the multiplication of technoscientific innovations. How should they be viewed? Does the current space of critical reflection not render them suspect from the outset, subject to condemnation, guilty of undermining social ties and humanity? Are these innovations not dehumanizing by nature, as they tend to focus on efficiency, foster standardization and stifle the expression of the subjective? In this article, the author explores other ways of reflecting on the technosciences and the role they play in the debate on dehumanization and rehumanization. Based on research in which she followed the work of inventing a new contraceptive method, the author emphasizes the promises, but also the difficulties, of an approach that casts doubt on the apparently impenetrable and insurmountable boundaries between the world of things and that which is human

    No full text
In this paper, the author draws attention to particular aspects of United Nations strategy adopted at the International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo in September 1994. Emphasis is put on the particular vision of reproductive rights and gender equality promoted by the ICPD Program of Action. In her final commentaries, the author suggests a few areas of debate inspired by solutions to the « problem » of population growth put forward by the international community in Cairo
