Jahrhunderts
Writing letters is to Hölderlin uttering ideas in a vivid general interesting manner. This is for him both a livening and spiritualizing artistic activity, which utters words to that effect in an equilibrium of mind and life. An endless beautiful reflection underlies this activity and finds utterance in a poetical prose, in which the endless form coalesces with the endless material. Hölderlin’s letters, in particular the letters in lyrical prose in Hyperion, give evidence for the expressly and sensuous art of this coalescing
The Genesis of Hölderlin̕ s Concept of Language from the Perspective of Media Theory
This essay explores the genesis of the concept of language in Hölderlin’s work and its relation to the history of the media. The early stage of language development is the purely phonetic unity of words. This is followed by its setting in the spiritual interior. The liberation from this towards a general interpretation of word unity occurs through an enthusiastic language that makes writing communicable and at the same time exposes it to the danger of forgetting the original meaning of the words. Hölderlin reacts to this with a recognition of the status quo of modern language or with a fortification of enthusiastic language through the legality of writing or with a reduction of signifiers
Closed-Loop Active Model Diagnosis Using Bhattacharyya Coefficient: Application to Automated Visual Inspection
This manuscript presents an improvement of state-of-the-art Closed-Loop Active Model Diagnosis (CLAMD). The proposed method utilizes weighted Bhattacharyya coefficients evaluated at the vertices of the polytopic constraint set to provide a good trade-off between computational efficiency and satisfactory input choice for separation of candidate models of a system. A simulation of a dynamical system shows the closed-loop performance not being susceptible to the combination of candidate models. Additionally, the broad applicability of CLAMD is shown by means of a demonstrative application in automated visual inspection. This application involves sequential determination of the optimal object inspection region for the next measurement. As compared to the conventional approach using one full image to recognize handwritten digits from the MNIST dataset, the novel CLAMD-approach needs significantly (up to 78%) less data to achieve similar accuracy.Accepted Author ManuscriptTeam Michel Verhaege
Image of Byzantine relations with crusaders in Levant in works of William of Tyre, Anna Komnene and Niketas Choniates
This bachelor work is about problematice of relations between Komnenian dynasty and Outremer, that is crusaders and crusader states in region of Levante from point of view of byzantine historians Anne Komnene and Niketas Choniates and latin historian of "western" descend William of Tyre. Work is divided into several parts. In first part, it pursues reigns of individual rulers of Komnenian dynasty in given time period for historical context of era, than follows chapter about historiography, which is about works of individual authors and in the end analyses opinions of authors on specific historical events starting with first crusade and ending with massacre of Latins in Constantinople and examines views on it with the eyes of Niketas Choniates and William of Tyre. The author tries to answer the question why their relations extremely deteriotated even spite of prolatin orientation of Komnenian rulers. KEY WORDS Keywords: crusaders; crusader states; William of Tyre; Anna Komnene; Niketas Choniates; Byzantium; 1081-1183; chronicleTato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou vztahů Komnenovské dynastie s Outremerem, tedy křižáky a křižáckými státy v oblasti Levanty z pohledu Byzantských historiků Anny Komneny a Niketa Choniata a latinského historika "západního" původu Viléma z Tyru. Two-step coding theorem in the nearly continuous category
2013 Summer.Includes bibliographical references. In measurable dynamics, one studies the measurable properties of dynamical systems. A recent surge of interest has been to study dynamical systems which have both a measurable and a topological structure. A nearly continuous Z-system consists of a Polish space X with a non-atomic Borel probability measure μ and an ergodic measure-preserving homeomorphism T on X . Let ƒ : X → R be a positive, nearly continuous function bounded away from 0 and ∞. This gives rise to a flow built over T under the function ƒ in the nearly continuous category. Rudolph proved a representation theorem in the 1970's, showing that any measurable flow, where the function ƒ is only assumed to be measure-preserving on a measurable Z-system, can be represented as a flow built under a function where the ceiling function takes only two values. We show that Rudolph's theorem holds in the nearly continuous category
Mobile banking and financial inclusion: The regulatory lessons
Mobile banking is growing at a remarkable speed around the world. In the process it is creating considerable uncertainty about the appropriate regulatory response to this newly emerging service. This paper sets out a framework for considering the design of regulation of mobile banking. Since it lies at the interface between financial services and telecoms, mobile banking also raises competition policy and interoperability issues that are discussed in the paper. Finally, by unbundling payments services into its component parts, mobile banking provides important lessons for the design of financial regulation more generally in developed as well as developing economies. --Banking,Regulation,Microfinance,Payments System,Mobile Money
