Cytotoxic effect of potato aspartic proteases (StAPs) on Jurkat T cells
StAPs are potato aspartic proteases with cytotoxic activity against plant pathogens and spermatozoa. StAPs cytotoxic activity is selective, since these proteins do not exert toxic effect on plant cells and erythrocytes. In this work, we investigated the capacity of StAPs to exert cytotoxicity on human leukaemia cells. Obtained results show that StAPs induce apoptosis on Jurkat T cells after a short time of incubation in a dose-dependent manner. However, no
significative effect on the T lymphocytes viability was observed at all StAPs incubation times and concentrations tested. These results suggest that StAPs can be conceptually promising leads for cancer therapy
Atimicrobial activity of potato aspartic proteases (StAPs) involves membrane permeabillization
Solanum tuberosum aspartic proteases (StAPs) with antimicrobial activity are induced after abiotic and biotic stress. In this study the ability of StAPs to produce a direct antimicrobial effect was investigated. Viability assays demonstrated that StAPs are able to kill spores of Fusarium solani and Phytophthora infestans in a dose-dependent manner. Localization experiments with FITC-labelled StAPs proved that the proteins interact directly with the surface of spores and hyphae of F. solani and P. infestans. Moreover, incubation of spores and hyphae with StAPs resulted in membrane permeabilization, as shown by the uptake of the fluorescent dye SYTOX Green. It is concluded that the antimicrobial effect of StAPs against F. solani and P. infestans is caused by a direct interaction with the microbial surfaces followed by membrane permeabilization.Fil: Mendieta, Julieta Renee. Etude comparative entre des étudiants des STAPS Algériens et français concernant le niveau de quelques qualités physiques. (Cas des étudiants des STAPS - Niveau licence 2 Université de Boumerdes (UMBB) / Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1)
101 p. : ill. ; 30 cm.Notre travail d’étude avait pour ambition d’évaluer et de comparé le niveau de
quelques qualités physiques, entre des étudiants des STAPS Algériens et français,
par le bais des tests physique (tests de vitesse, tests d’endurance, tests de force).
Et vu que le programme d’étude de STAPS Algérie contient plus d’heures de
pratique par apport à celui de STAPS français ; nous avions émis quatre
hypothèses, la première étant qu’il y a une différence de niveau entre les étudiants
de STAPS Algérie et les étudiants de STAPS français concernant la qualité
physique vitesse, La deuxième hypothèse selon laquelle, il y a une différence de
niveau entre les étudiants de STAPS Algérie et les étudiants de STAPS français
concernant le qualité physique force, pour la troisième hypothèse nous avions
supposé qu’il y a une différence de niveau entre les étudiants de STAPS Algérie
et les étudiants de STAPS français concernant la qualité physique endurance, pour
la quatrième hypothèse nous avions supposé que le niveau physique des étudiants
des STAPS Algériens est le plus proche du niveau physique des athlètes de haut
niveau.
Etant donné qu’on a pas réalisé l’expérimentation à cause de la crise sanitaire qui
nous a empêchés, il est impossible de confirmer ou d’infirmer nos hypothèses.
Néanmoins il est indispensable d’entreprendre d’autres recherches plus
approfondies avec un échantillon plus grand, et plus de tests visant l’ensemble des
qualités physiques afin de disposer des résultats plus précis

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
