It was observed that this supplementationhas little effect on immunity of meat quail of 1-14 days old. It has been concluded thatthe requirement for maximum growing is 11,276 UI of vitamin A. In experiment II,1520 quails from 15 to 35 days old were used, the treatments were the same asexperiment I. The weight gain (WG) and accumulated body biomass (ABB) showed aquadratic effect (P0.05) for hematocrit (HEM),relative values of heterophils (H), lymphocytes (L), heterophil / lymphocyte ratio (H:L),serum enzymes aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT).It has been concluded that the requirement for maximum growing of meat quail of 15-35 days old is 7,469 UI of vitamin A. In experiment III, 2200 quails from 1-14 days oldwere used which were distributed in a complete random experimental design, total of 8treatments with 5 repetitions. The levels of vitamin K supplementation were 0; 0.7; 1.0;1.3; 1.6; 1.9; 2.2; 2.5 mg/kg of diets. There was no influence (P> 0.05) in the levels ofvitamin K supplementation on feed intake (FI), body weight (BW), weight gain (WG),biomass accumulated body (BCA) and feed conversion (FC ). There was a quadraticeffect (P 0.05) in the concentration of serum calcium (CAS), however, alkaline phosphatase(ALP) showed a quadratic effect (P 0.05) in the levels of vitamin K supplementation on feed intake(FI), body weight (BW), weight gain (WG), biomass accumulated body (BCA) and feedconversion (FC ). The femur diameter (DIAMF) and femur calcium concentration(CAF) and the tibial length (LENGT) and tibial calcium concentration (CAT) showed aquadratic response (P<0.05), with the highest levels found 1.33, 1.42, 1.59 and 1.42 mgof vitamin K to DIAMF, CAF, LENGT and CAT respectively. The prothrombin time, the concentration of serum calcium and alkaline phosphatase levels had also notsignificantly affected. It is concluded that levels of supplementation did not influencethe performance of meat quails, so diets based on corn and soybean meal are sufficientto meet the needs of the meat quails at this stage. The supplementation of this vitaminseems to positively influence bone qualityxvii, 78 f.

De acordo com estes experimentos, foi possível estimar as exigências nutricionais de Ca e Pd para codornas japonesas nas fases de cria, recria e postura, demonstrando seus benefícios e vantagensABSTRACT: Four experiments were carried out to estimate the nutritional requirements of calcium (Ca) and available phosphorus (aP) for Japanese quails (Coturnix cotunix japonica) during growing (1 -14 and 15- 42 days old) and laying phases. In experiments I and II, 1824 and 1680 quails were used, respectively, and distributed in a factorial scheme with 4 levels of Ca (0.57, 0.81, 1.05 and 1.29%) x 4 levels of aP ( 0.21, 0.32, 0.43 and 0.54%), totaling 16 treatments with 3 replicates, containing 38 and 35 quails per experimental unit. The data were analyzed through polynomial regression for the Ca and aP levels to estimate the best fit model and the nutritional requirement was determined through the application of overlapping contours graph. Considering the estimates obtained from the overlapping contours graph of the equations obtained for the performance variables (P <0.05), the levels of 0.92% of Ca and 0.37% of aP were estimated for the rearing phase (1- 14 days) and 0.94% of Ca and 0.39% of aP for the growing phase (15 - 42 days). The variables related to bone quality were influenced by the minerals studied in both phases, interacting with each other or alone, demonstrating its importance in relation to bone quality. In experiment III, the same design was used with 12 birds per experimental unit that received conventional feed to evaluate the residual effect of the growing phase during laying, and the best results reinforce the estimated levels during the growth of the birds. Experiment IV was conducted to estimate the nutritional requirements of Ca and aP for Japanese laying quails (64 to 168 days) and to verify their effects on egg quality and bone variables. 480 quails were used and distributed in a completely randomized design, in a factorial scheme with 4 levels of Ca (1.70, 2.40, 3.10 and 3.80%) x 4 levels of aP (0.15, 0.30 , 0.45 and 0.60%) totaling 16 treatments with 3 replicates and 10 quails per experimental unit. The performance was evaluated successively during five production cycles with 21 days each, as well as egg quality in the last three days of each cycle, and the bone parameters were evaluated at the end of the experiment. Through overlapping contour graph, Ca and aP levels responses were optimized on the performance characteristics, estimating the levels of 2.68% of Ca and 0.38% of aP. Egg weight, eggshell percentage, shell weight per unit of surface area and shell thickness did not show significant interaction, however, they presented a quadratic effect (P <0.05) for both minerals. Ca levels resulted in a linear increase (P <0.05) in the concentration of Ca in the eggshell, while the aP levels resulted in a quadratic effect (P <0.05) for this variable. In relation to the bone variables, there was interaction (P <0.05) between Ca and aP levels in bone density and bone resistance of the femur, showing a quadratic effect on bone density for both minerals, while bone resistance showed a quadratic effect for Ca and linear increase for aP. In the tibiotarso, bone resistance increased linearly (P <0.05) according to Ca levels, obtaining the same calcium concentration response in this bone. According to these experiments, it was possible to estimate the nutritional requirements of Ca and aP for Japanese quails in the rearing, growing and laying phases, demonstrating their benefits and advantagesxv, 80 f. : il. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
