    Einar Stang ble født i Arendal i 1898. Oppgaven viser glimt fra hans liv fram til og med utstillingene i 1945-46. Einar blir regnet som vår fremste krigskunstner, eller "War Artist". Han var fulltidskunstner for 132 (N) Wing på vestfronten under andre verdenskrig. Oppgaven søker å finne ut mer om hvorfor Einar greide å bli ansatt som kunstner i Luftforsvaret, og om mulig å få en oversikt over hvilke bilder vi kjenner til fra tiden som War Artist, enten som originaler eller som avbildninger. Det er også sett på utstillinger i kunstforeninger i 1945 samt hvordan kunsten er forvaltet etter dette.Einar Stang was born in Arendal in 1898. This thesis goal is to give insight into his life, culminating in his exhibitions in 1945-46. Einar is concidered Norways leading War Artist. He was an employed artist with 132 (Norwegian) Wing at the western front during WW2. This thesis seeks to know more about why and how Einar landed his job as a full-time artist with the norwegian wing in R.A.F. A secondary goal is to make an index of the pictures we know of from this time in his artist career, as original works of art or pictures of them. His exhibitions in '45 - '46 and curating of his pictures after the war is allso examined
