No full textIn "Introduction to the Court for International Climate Crimes (CICC): A Conversation between Radha D’Souza and Jonas Staal" D’Souza and Staal discuss a wide range of issues from law, art, philosophy and social movements for the special issue of the Errant Journal on their project. The Court for Intergenerational Climate Crimes (the CICC) is a project D'Souza and Staal initiated jointly and produced in collaboration with Framer Framed. The conceptual framework for the project is based on D’Souza’s book What’s Wrong With Rights? Social Movements, Law and Liberal Imaginations (Pluto Press, 2018), which draws on her research project on “Rights and Social Movements”; and Staal’s visualisation of large-scale art installation and art works. The exhibition was hosted by the art space Framer Framed in Amsterdam from 25 September 2021 to 13 February 2022. It included a performative component in the form of a tribunal presided over by four judges including D’Souza which hear evidence on intergenerational climate crimes committed by corporations and states which was presented by prosecutors and witnesses from the Netherlands, Mongolia, Peru, Bolivia, India, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Republic of Cameroon, Federative Republic of Brazil, MedWatch, Global Legal Action Network, Libya and Yemen

No full textDe huidige voorschriften voor het ontwerpen van staal-grout- staal verbindingen zijn opgesteld voor de verbinding van funderingspalen aan funderingssleeves. Deze voorschriften baseren zich mede op de aanname dat de schuifspanning op het contactvlak staal-grout gelijkmatig over de hoogte van de verbinding is verdeeld. Ook in het Tripod Tower Platform is deze verbinding toegepast, zij het in een op meerdere wijzen belast knooppunt met een andersoortige geometrie. Multisensory stimulation to improve functional performance in moderate to severe dementia - interim results
No full textDementia is a growing problem worldwide and interventions to effectively manage and promote function are urgently required. Multisensory Environments (MSEs) have been used to promote functional performance, however, no studies have been conducted to explore the efficacy of MSEs on functional performance in dementia. This RCT explores to what extent MSEs influence functional performance in people with moderate / severe dementia compared with a control activity.Thirty participants with moderate / severe dementia were recruited form the south of England. Following baseline assessment and design of a bespoke intervention, each participant attended their allocated intervention (3 x wk, for 4 weeks). Assessments were carried out pre and post-session using the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS). Results indicate significant improvement in functional performance in both the MSE and of the control activity. Findings support the use of MSEs as a strategy for enhancing functional performance in dementia. <br/
Propaganda Art from the 20th to the 21st Century

This study by artist Jonas Staal explores the development
of propaganda art from the 20th to the 21st century.
Staal defines propaganda as the performance of power by means of the equation
propaganda = power + performance. Through his work as a propaganda researcher
and practice as a propaganda artist, he argues that different structures of
power generate different forms of propaganda and therefore different forms of
propaganda art.
Whereas in the context of the 20th century Staal discusses the differences
between avant-garde, totalitarian, and modernist propaganda art, in the 21st
century he proposes the categories of War on Terror Propaganda Art, Popular
Propaganda Art, and Stateless Propaganda Art. By means of concrete examples
of artists and artworks within each of these categories, he attempts to show
how the performance of power in the 21st century translates into different
visual forms, and how they shape and direct our reality.
Staal’s study shows that power and art exist in continuous interaction.
Propaganda and propaganda art are not terms that only refer to the past, but
concepts and practices through which we can understand the construction of
reality in the present.
