Do veće koncentracije jevrejskih porodica dolazi tek sredinom 19. veka. Intenzivne mikromigracije jevrejskih porodica i pojedinaca okarakterisale su čitav 19. vek. Tek krajem veka dolazi do zaustavljanja većih migracija, stalnog naseljavanja, otvaranja firmi, itd. U to vreme, Jevreji naseljavaju sva mesta u Opštini Šid osim manastirskog prnjavora Privine Glave i rusinske kolonije Bikić Dola. Jews have been present in the territory of the present-day municipality of Šid since the first half of the 18th century. Greater settlement of Jewish families occurred in the mid-19th century, and these intense micromigrations of Jewish families and individuals characterized the entire 19th century. It was not until the late 19th century that major migrations ceased and permanent settlements, trading firms, etc. began to occur. The residence and business of the Jews were recorded in all places except in Privina Glava as a monastery village, and in Bikić Dol, a Greek Catholic (Ruthenian) village. At the beginning of World War II, Jews lived only in Sid, Erdevik, and Sot. Almost everyone was killed in the Holocaust. A Jewish cemetery exists today in Sid, Erdevik, and Morovic. In the period from the 18th century to the beginning of the Second World War the following families were recorded in Adaševci: Neuman, Löwy, and Kaff; in Bačinci: Rosenberg, Morgenstern, Händler, Kohn, and Kraus; in Batrovci: Grünfeld and Eisenberger; in Berkasovo: Popper, Kassawitz, Neuman and Hahn; in Bingula: Baum, Schmutzer, Hubert, Neuman, Kohn, Epstein, Rothmüller, Schmaltz, Spitzer, Grün and Reich; in Vašica: Schmit, Handler, Weiss, Schauer, and Neuman; in Višnjićevo (Grk): Steimnitz, Hubert, Fürst, Steiner, Kohn, Freigenbaum, Grunfeld, and Reich; in Gibarac: Pollak, Krauss, and Glochner; in Ilinci: Müller, Roth, and Stern; in Jamena: Pesing; in Kukujevci: Lederer, Geduldig, Morgenstern, Rosenberg, Hochstraus, Fischer, Gross, Krauss, Deutch, and Lustig; in Ljuba: Händler, Deutch and Stern; in Molovin: Hahn, Bresslauer, Aleveil, and Händler; in Morović: Rosenberg, Kohn, and Grun; in Sot: Berger, Händler, Hahn, and Goldenberg. As the most famous Jew from this region can be mentioned dr. Herbert Kraus (Bačinci, 1910 – Beograd, 1970), member of the partisan movement since 1941, and post-war chief of the Yugoslavian Army Main Hospital and the Military Medical Academy

The archive of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Šid holds numerous documents related to the Jewish community in Šid. These are documents that originated from the cooperation between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Jewish community. Some documents were also provided by Jewish companies and shops as well as some Jewish people. These administrative books and documents cover the period from 1821 to 1925. Most of the documents are bills from Jewish shops and warehouses whose services and goods were used by the church. In addition, as per the available documents, the Jewish community rented a house owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church for almost fifty years. This house was used as a Synagogue. Many documents also indicate that Jewish companies and individuals were renters of some other church properties. In addition to this official relationship, some documents also indicate the existence of an extremely friendly relationship between the two confessions, such as participation of the Jews in the organization of parochial Serbian fest, etc. The documents from the archives of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Šid related to Jewish people and their community in Šid are of immense significance for studying not only the history of the Jewish community but also the inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations in the multiethnic Šid

During the whole XIX century, they settled in almost all places in Syrmia with the exception of some monastery-surrounding settlements. The basic sоurcе for the research of Jewish families and their origin are the master files. According to these master files of the born, married, and dead of all Jewish municipalities at the territory of Syrmia ( except for Vinkovci town), there were recorded 1338 families. The exact origin could bе established for 720 or 54% of the cases. The largest part of the Syrmian Jews has the "Hungarian" origin, considering borders of modem states. They predominantly originate from Bonyhad (З1%), then Budapest (6%) and Ваја (5%), while all the other cities participate with 2% or less. Slightly less than half of the families originate from places from the territory of today's Serbia, predominantly Bačka. In the case of the Serbian towns, the absolute primacy belongs to Bačka Palanka (purporting earlier Stara and Nova Palanka) with 15%. There are 9% of families originating from Croatian towns. А slightly lesser percentage of families (7%) originates from the area of Slovakia and then from Romania with only 3% and the Czech Republic and Ukraine with 2%. Ву establishing the origin of the Jews, as one of the socially most active and influential nations, we can determine the source of the impacts on the social processes at the territory оf Syrmia

(Prilog istoriji rabinskih porodica)

The earliest history of modem Jewish communities in present-day Serbia and Croatia is largely unknown. The only exceptions are the big cities (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Zagreb, Osijek, etc.), which have been thoroughly elaborated and published due to the abundance of historical material. In addition to the unexplored archival holdings, the past of the Jews in these areas and the importance of this community have not been fully comprehended mostly because the old Jewish cemeteries have also been unexplored. Jewish community gave a whole host of personalities that were of great importance not only internally to Jews but the whole society. This paper discusses five extremely famous and significant rabbis and Talmudists and their unknown descendants buried in Ilok and Bačka Palanka. These rabbis and Talmudists are Solomon ben Isaac - Rashi, Moses Schreiber - Moshe Hatam Sofer, Tzvi Hirsch Ashkenazi - Hacham Tzvi, Shabbatai Hakohen - Shach, and Elimelech Weisblum of Lizhensk. U pitanju su sledeći rabini i talmudisti: Šlomo Icaki - Raši (Shlomo Itzhaki - Rashi), Moses Šrajber - Moše Hatam Sofer (Moses Schreiber - Moshe Hatam Sofer), Cvi Hirš Aškenazi - Haham Cvi (Zevi) (Tzvi Hirsch Ashkenazi - Hacham Tzvi), Šabataj Hakoen - Šah (Shabbatai Hakohen - Shach) i Elimeleh Vajsblum od Ležajska (Elimelech Weisblum of Lizhensk). Pomenuti grobovi svakako zahtevaju obaveznu zaštitu i prezentaciju jevrejskih grobalja u Bačkoj Palanci i Iloku
