Research Designs
Author Paul E. Spector provides a clear introduction to the principles of experimental and non-experimental design, including single group design, pre-test, post-test designs, and factorial designs. Spector also covers hierarchical designs, multivariate designs, the Solomon four group design, panel designs, and designs with concomitant variables
Interview with Paul E. Spector
Our interviewee is Paul E. Spector, PhD in I/O psychology, University of South Florida (USF), Professor of I/O Psychology and Director of the I/O graduate program. His research interests include the impact of jobs on the behavior and well-being of employees, including counterproductive behavior, job satisfaction, job stress, and withdrawal behavior. Professor Spector published in many journals in the field, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior (JOB), Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology (JOOP), and Psychological Bulletin. He has written books on both methodology (research design and SAS programming) and content, including an I/O psychology textbook (Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Research and Practice). Professor Spector’s most active interests now are counterproductive behavior at work and cross-cultural job stress
Job Satisfaction: Applications, Assessment, Causes and Consequences
Distilling the vast literature on this frequently studied variable in organizational behaviour research, Paul E Spector provides the student and professional with a pithy overview of the application, assessment, causes and consequences of job satisfaction. In addition to discussing the nature of and techniques for assessing job satisfaction, the author summarizes the findings concerning how people feel towards work, including: cultural and gender differences in job satisfaction and personal and organizational causes; and potential consequences of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Students and researchers will particularly appreciate the extensive list of references and the Job Satisfaction Survey included in the Appendix
Conversaciones con... Paul Philippot.
- What is modern conservation? Therefore, the text focuses on the following aspects: subjects related to the interpretation of theoretical references in the field of restoration in Brazil; the importance of discussing those references to analyse the role of time in conservation; issues resulting from the fact of not considering the passing of time in recent interventions made in that country; finally, as a conclusion, a reflection on the traces of time in the work of art, i.e. patina.

Estimation problems in the block-diagonal model of the multitrait-multimethod matrix
The most popular method used to analyze the
multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) matrix has been confirmatory
factor analysis (CFA). The block-diagonal
model, in which trait effects, trait correlations,
method effects, and method correlations are simultaneously
estimated is examined in detail. Analysis
of published data from 18 correlation matrices
showed estimation problems in all but one case.
Simulations were used to show how identification
and specification difficulties may account for these
problems. Even trivial misspecification of a single
parameter can prevent program convergence. These
problems render the CFA block-diagonal approach
to analyzing MTMM data less useful than has generally
been thought. Index terms: construct validity,
covariance structure modeling, factor analysis,
multitrait-multimethod matrix, parameter estimation in
confirmatory factor analysis.Brannick, Michael T.; Spector, Paul E.. (1990). Estimation problems in the block-diagonal model of the multitrait-multimethod matrix. Retrieved from the University Digital Conservancy, https://hdl.handle.net/11299/113934
