Sneutrino-antisneutrino mixing and neutrino mass in anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario
In supersymmetric models with nonzero Majorana neutrino mass, the sneutrino and antisneutrino mix, which may lead to same-sign dilepton signals in future collider experiments. We point out that the anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario has a good potential to provide an observable rate of such signals for the neutrino masses suggested by the atmospheric and solar neutrino oscillations. It is noted also that the sneutrino-antisneutrino mixing can provide much stronger information on some combinations of the neutrino masses and mixing angles than the neutrino experiments
Operator analysis of neutrinoless double beta decay
We study the effective operators of the standard model fields which would yield an observable rate of neutrinoless double beta decay. We particularly focus on the possibility that neutrinoless double beta decay is dominantly induced by lepton-number-violating higher dimensional operators other than the Majorana neutrino mass. Our analysis can be applied to models in which neutrinoless double beta decay is induced either by strong dynamics or by quantum gravity effects at a fundamental scale near the TeV scale as well as the conventional models in which neutrinoless double beta decay is induced by perturbative renormalizable interactions
Bimaximal neutrino mixing and small U-e3 from Abelian flavor symmetry
Atmospheric neutrino data strongly suggest a near-maximal nu (mu)-nu (tau) mixing and also solar neutrino data can be nicely explained by another near-maximal nu (e)-nu (mu) or nu (e)-nu (tau) mixing. We examine the possibility that this bimaximal mixing of atmospheric and solar neutrinos arises naturally. while keeping U-e3 and Deltam(sol)(3)/Deltam(atm)(2) small enough, as a consequence of Abelian flavor symmetry. Two simple scenarios ofAbelian flavor symmetry within the supersymmetric framework are considered to obtain the desired form of the neutrino mass matrix and the charged lepton mass matrix parametrized by the Cabibbo angle lambda approximate to 0.2. Future experiments at a neutrino factory measuring the size of U-e3 and the sign of Deltam(32)(2) could discriminate between those scenarios as they predict distinctive values of U-e3 in connection with Deltam(sol)(2)/Deltam(atm)(2) and also with the order of the neutrino mass eigenvalues

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Probing the messenger of supersymmetry breaking by the muon anomalous magnetic moment
Motivated by the recently measured muon anomalous magnetic moment a(mu), we examine the supersymmetry contribution to a(mu) in various mediation models of supersymmetry breaking which lead to predictive flavor conserving soft parameters at high energy scale. The studied models include dilaton or modulus-mediated models in heterotic string or M theory, gauge-mediated model, no-scale or gaugino-mediated models, and also the minimal and deflected anomaly-mediated models. For each model, the range of a(mu)(SUSY) allowed by other experimental constraints, e.g., b --> s gamma and the collider bounds on superparticle masses, is obtained together with the corresponding parameter region of the model. Gauge-mediated models with a low messenger scale can give any a(mu)(SUSY) within the 2 sigma bound. In many other models, b-->s gamma favors a(mu)(SUSY) smaller than either the - 1 sigma value (26 X 10(-10)) or the central value (42 X 10(-10))
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
