Christa Wolf und die Verortung von dem Selbst. Eine Analyse der Selbstverwirklichung in Christa Wolfs Roman Nachdenken über Christa T.
Christa Wolf was born in 1929 in a country that shortly thereafter
had to end its existence. The famous German writer then studied, lived,
and wrote in another system, which in turn was dissolved after decades.
Such events have a dramatic effect on the life of an individual. The paper
attempts to identify some features related to writing and identity in Wolf’s
novel Nachdenken über Christa T (Reflections on Christa T.). In her texts, the
author writes about her characters who encounter existential contradictions:
on the one hand, there is a totalitarian system in which human beings have
to survive; on the other hand, there is Wolf’s protagonist who tries to locate
his or her individuality and thus create an ethic of his/her life. Christa
Wolf’s analysis of identity is focused on the attempt to be authentic in a
milieu that gives her few opportunities for development. Wolf’s writing
describes our world. The texts written in the 60s, 70s, and 80s are still full
of relevance today. By reading Christa Wolf, we discover a system full of
violence, where the individual develops strategies for survival. The author
suggests an existential recipe: through critical questioning and through
a meticulous analysis of our own self, we are able to find a solution for
ourselves and for others
Translating the Author-Function: The (Re)Narration of Christa Wolf
Narrative theory continues to offer new perspectives on the intercultural transfer of texts. Embedded in new narratives, the text opens up to new interpretations, resulting in the loss and acquisition of meaning. The writer’s persona or author-function (Foucault 1977) is also renegotiated by cultural transfer, as it is cumulatively and dynamically constructed through readings of an author’s texts and literary or biographical contexts. The translated author-function may differ considerably from the domestic, and may also interact with it as in the case of the East German writer Christa Wolf, whose international author-function has served for contrast (if not conflict) with her reception in the German Democratic Republic and united Germany. This was particularly marked during the 1990s, when revelations about Wolf’s political activity led to censure by the German media and literati. This paper demonstrates how the translation of Wolf’s texts and the construction of her international author-function have renegotiated her position within her domestic literary field

Die Charakterentwicklungen der Protagonistinnen in Christa Wolfs Moskauer Novelle, Der geteilte Himmel und Nachdenken über Christa T.
This thesis presents an analysis of the character development of the female protagonists in Christa Wolf\u27s Moskauer Novelle, Der geteilte Himmel, and Nachdenken über Christa T. Three levels of development are considered: personal, political, and literary.
The thesis consists of three main chapters in which the levels of development of Vera Brauer, Rita Seidel, and Christa T., the female protagonists of Christa Wolf\u27s early works, are treated. One chapter is devoted to each of the three. To what extent the three protagonists can be reduced to a common denominator, and to what extent they differ from each other, will be discussed in the final chapter.
The levels of development--personal, political, and literary –can be found in all three works. A gradual intensification in development from work to work can also be noticed. The works reflect Christa Wolf\u27s development as an author as well. She changed from a faithful member of her political party into a critical writer. Although all three works contain biographical features, one can especially feel the closeness of the author in Nachdenken über Christa T. She seems to have gone through the same development as her protagonist
Zur Poetik der Erinnerung im literarischen und essayistischen Schaffen Christa Wolfs
August (2012) was the last, posthumous edition of the literary work of Christa Wolf. In the context of this prosaic text, in which, as Christa Wolf wrote in the letter form-dedicated to her husband, there were many recollections; there was an attempt to analyze the prosaic memory of Christa Wolf (Nachdenken über Christa T., Kindheitsmuster, August). By defining the poetry of reminiscence of Wolf’s works, the author of the article has focused on Wolf’s essay – Lesen und Schreiben – it was a central piece in Christa Wolf’s work

Greek Mythology in Christa Wolf's Novels
Keywords Christa Wolf, myth, mythology, myth revision, Cassandra, Medea, social functions of literature Abstract The subject of this thesis is the incorporation of ancient mythology in the story Cassandra and in the novel Medea: A Modern Retelling by Christa Wolf with the backdrop of the author's own understanding of the function of literature. The first part of the work contains a theoretical introduction to the topic of myths and mythology and presents the most important theories about myths and their incorporation in literature. The subsequent part of the work focuses on the understanding of a myth and its function as used by Christa Wolf. The core of this work is an analysis of the literary incorporation of mythological substance in the writings specified above and a comparison with the incorporation of such substance in the works of ancient authors Aeschylus and Euripides, with the aim of showing through what means and what intentions the author has updated and revised the myth. This part of the work also includes an analysis of the poetological concept of Christa Wolf and the related social functions of literature and the author's role

Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping: From Theory to Application for Static and Dynamic Imaging
Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) post-processing technique that uses the image phase to map the spatial distribution of magnetic susceptibility in tissues, which arises from biological sources such as iron, myelin, and calcium. QSM is a broad research field due to the complexity of computing magnetic susceptibility. As such, QSM research has focused on refining the processing algorithms, leading to the development of numerous approaches with different advantages. These approaches may incorporate assumptions about the susceptibility distribution, such as spatial smoothness, but most do not consider information from other image contrasts, which may better delineate the edges between different tissue types. Additionally, QSM has been widely applied to measure iron deposition in the brain and stroke induced microbleeds and hemorrhages, among other applications. Although typically used to obtain static information about the brain, recent applications have expanded QSM to dynamically measure susceptibility changes due to the hemodynamic response of blood to neuronal activation, demonstrating the potential for QSM to measure acute susceptibility dynamics. To holistically address QSM for the brain, a multifaceted research approach was employed, which included the following: 1) implementation of a susceptibility mapping algorithm that incorporates prior knowledge of the brain’s magnetic susceptibility distribution based on multi-contrast MRI to inform the mapping process, 2) investigation of the impact of different QSM algorithms in a large-scale, multi-site study, and 3) extension of QSM from static to dynamic applications by developing a novel processing framework to analyze susceptibility changes within the brain during various physiological processes, such as normal breathing versus breath-holding and the cardiac cycle. Through this work, we demonstrate the broad applicability of QSM, from theoretical development to algorithm implementation, as well as practical applications – contributing to a deeper understanding of its capabilities and potential for future research
Christa Wolf’s struggle with totalitarianism
Christa Wolf was born in 1929 in Landsberg an der Warthe [Landsberg on the Warta river], now Gorzów Wielkopolski. As a young girl, she grew up in the fascist era and was directly influenced by its ideology. While fleeing from the Red Army at the end of January 1945, this young woman, less than 16 years old, stated that at once she put an end to her connections with fascism. Having discovered a new fascinating ideology – socialism, she was convinced that her generation would create a new, jubilant country according to its precepts, i.e., German Democratic Republic. In her books, Christa Wolf settles accounts with these two totalitarian ideologies. She is fully aware that neither of these ideologies can be totally rejected, whether on individual or collective-social plane. The author, Krystyna Kamińska, of the paper offers an in-depth discussion of Wolf’s criticism of the ideologies she had come to live in as well as her admission of their permanence. She deals with fascism mostly in “Patterns of childhood” [„Wzorce dzieciństwa”], and with socialism in “The Quest for Christa T.” [„Rozmyślania nad Christą T.”] and in “City of Angels” [„Miasto aniołów”].Christa Wolf, pisarka z dawniej Niemieckiej Republiki Demokratycznej, urodziła się w Landsbergu nad Wartą w 1929 roku, obecnie Gorzowie Wielkopolskim. Z faszyzmem rozlicza się przede wszystkim we Wzorcach dzieciństwa, a z socjalizmem w Rozmyślaniach nad Christą T. i w Mieście aniołów
