"Cronica der Turckey" Sebastian Franck's Translation of the "Tractatus de Moribus, Condicionibus et Nequitia Turcorum" by Georgius de Hungaria
The Tractatus de moribus, condicionibus et nequitia Turcorum is one of the most important first-hand accounts of life in fifteenth-century Turkey known to modern scholarship. It is the work of a Christian former slave of the Turks, writing after his return to the West. Although the author does not name himself, he can be identified as a
Dominican priest, Georgius de Hungaria, who died in Rome in 1502. His Tractatus is conceived as a work of anti-Islamic polemic, yet it contains a surprisingly unbiased appraisal of Turkish customs.
First printed c.1480 when European apprehension in the face of Ottoman expansion was at its height, the Tractatus was reprinted in numerous editions, and was widely used as a
source by other authors. Luther edited the text in 1530, using the positive account of Turkish customs and religious observance as a weapon in his polemic against the Roman
Catholic Church: if heathens could perform such exemplary works, who could fail to doubt the efficacy of works as a means of salvation?
Sebastian Franck in his German translation of the Tractatus went further: replacing Georgius' commentary with his own, he used the text to attack institutional religion as a
whole and to promote his concept of a non-dogmatic, spiritual Church of individuals united with each other only through their union with God -a Church which was not closed to Moslems or members of any other creed. This translation or adaptation, the Cronica der Türckey, marks Franck's decisive break with the Lutheran cause and the beginning of his lonely path as a 'spiritual individualist'. Franck reworked his translation of the Tractatus for his major geographical work, the Weltbuch of 1534.
This thesis concerns itself primarily with Franck's Cronica, providing the first modern critical edition of this text, in a near-diplomatic transcription with an extensive glossary. The thesis also includes transcriptions of the Tractatus; of Türckei, an anonymous translation of the Tractatus, and of relevant additional material from Franck's Weltbuch. None of these texts has been published in full in a modern edition.
In the Introduction Franck's Cronica is compared in detail with the Tractatus, highlighting the changes that occur in translation; the character and the significance of these changes are then discussed. It is established that Franck, whilst being unwilling to reverse any of Georgius' value judgements on Islam and Turkish culture, is highly selective in his choice of material for translation, and frequently gives the text new nuances and adds his own
comment. The question of the Tractatus' influence on Franck's further development as a writer and thinker is also raised.
The investigation then turns to Franck's use of the Tractatus material in his Weltbuch. His eclecticism becomes apparent in this text, in which Georgius' account is juxtaposed - but not synthesised - with material from other sources, often of lesser veracity and greater anti-Islamic bias. Franck's distortion of the Tractatus material to suit his own line of argument is clearly discernible: from the unique phenomenon presented in the Tractatus the Turks
become one more example of the general human tendency to externalise and dogmatise faith.
In addition, the transmission of Cronica and Türckei is examined, and the relationship between these two translations is clarified: Franck certainly used Türckei in writing his Cronica, but is unlikely to be the author of the anonymous work

Does the Current Account Matter?
The purpose of this paper is to investigate in detail the behavior of the current account in emerging economies, and in particular its role if any in financial crises. Models of current account behavior are reviewed, and a dynamic model of current account sustainability is developed. The empirical analysis is based on a massive data set that covers over 120 countries during more than 25 years. Important controversies related to the current account including the extent to which current account deficits help predict currency crises are also analyzed. Throughout the paper I am interested in analyzing whether there is evidence supporting the idea that there are costs involved in running 'very large' deficits. Moreover, I investigate the nature of these potential costs, including whether they are particularly high in the presence of other type of imbalances.

Shwan Sebastian – Brahms’ Novel Language
The sound needs light: the light of a word to unravel its beauty. A performer always lives among metaphors, and the pianist and teacher Shwan Sebastian is himself a metaphor: through his music and – albeit too rarely – through his thoughts and writings about music. This time, his favourite subject refers to Brahms’ last compositions for piano that he approaches as a poet would, in a subtle, intense and profound way. On the verge of its artistic maturity, its interpretative essences are distilled in a musicological discourse of amazing depth, which proves his mastery of a technical analytical apparatus supplying all the relevant details. Everything for music, for its understanding; the author himself confesses that he climbed the ascending path to the “level of interpretation with awareness, because consciousness is the place where musical experience is manifest; the side acquired through analysis stabilizes talent. Through knowledge, we confirm what was undeclared in the beginning” (our translation). The repertoire (interpreted with so much structural awareness and semantic sensitivity) acquires, through this wonderful book, “a structured foundation from an analytical, interpretative and pedagogical perspective, tracing research directions, identifying and analyzing the ideological and compositional profile that sets up and adjusts the interpretation. This book required vast research of Brahms’ work, with a focus on his piano compositions which, to highlight from all perspectives, unavoidably entailed references to other areas of the composer’s music, for example, the symphonic dimension, codified in his entire creation system” (our translation). The author multiple integrating the final opuses by Brahms in a multiple cultural, personal, social, historical and stylistic context, which defines the algorithms behind the creation of the great Romantic composer from the perspective of all discursive parameters (orchestration, harmony, rhetoric and aesthetic expression, musical structures, melody, rhythm and timber, interpretative, compositional and pedagogical valences)
Sentimental Analysis on Parent's Review Using Naive Bayes Algorithm
Abstract— Sentimental analysis is technique used to determine whether text data is positive, negative or neutral. Sentimental analysis, also known as opinion mining, is the systematic identification, extraction, quantification, and analysis of affective states and subjective data, using natural language processing and text analysis is typically applied to customer feedback about daycare center. Sentiment analysis is frequently used in marketing, customer service, clinical medicine, and healthcare materials. The proposed system understands the opinions and utilities of parents towards daycare services, and to use this information to improve the quality of care and customer satisfaction. When you read customers feedback you can understand that whether the customer is happy, unhappy. You’ll also be able to understand why they’re feeling the way they are

Programming Language Prediction using Machine Learning
Abstract : The primary tool used in the software development industry is programming languages. Since the 1940s, hundreds of them have been developed, and every day, a sizable number of new lines of code are written in a variety of programming languages and pushed to active repositories. We consider a source code classifier to be a highly valuable tool for automatic syntax highlighting and label suggestion on systems, such as code editors, that can identify the programming language used to write a certain piece of code. This motivated us to use cutting-edge AI methods for text classification to build a model for categorizing code snippets according to their language. We developed a new dataset for our empirical investigation using the GitHub Repos Dataset, which includes 131450 code snippets dispersed over 34 programming languages
Indian Sign Language Recognition Using OpenCV and Machine Learning
Abstract— Deaf and hearing-impaired people utilize sign languages for communication. For effective communication, sign language employs various hand movements. Ordinary people may find it difficult to grasp. To decode the sign languages, a skilled interpreter is required, however this is not always achievable due to a lack of trained professionals. To tackle this, we can utilize a sign language recognition system written in Python based on OpenCV and machine learning. The device can translate sign language into text
